Foreword

YoSeob, DongWoon and I were bestfriend since childhood. We always hang out together all the time. But, after all of us reached 17 years old, our friendship seems to be awkward. YoSeob looks like he tried to prevent from bumping into me nor DongWoon. However, DongWoon was also acting weird. He starts avoiding from me and always absent in school.

One day, my parents and I decided to migrate to Australia for a few years. I quickly told YoSeob and DongWoon about that, the next day. They seems disappointed and sad. So I cheered them up, that we will meet again for the next few years.

That night, I packed my things and all the stuffs that I had to bring it to Australia later. After finishing packing up my things, I suddenly found this to reasonable things that I have been kept it in my small treasure box. There, I found small pink earphone that DongWoon gave it to me when I was 16, and a silver necklace with pink hearts that YoSeob gave it to me on my last year birthday. I decided to bring them along in case I will be missing them.

A few years past, and I have already reached 20 years old. My parents discussed with me about migrating back to Seoul the next day. I was excited, which I can not hardly wait to meet YoSeob and DongWoon there. I quickly went to my bedroom packed my things and I was ready to go back to Seoul.

We reached at the airport in Seoul in the evening. In Seoul was having winter season, while in Australia was having spring season. I felt relieved, then we quickly catch up a cab and went back home to our house that we had lived in a few years ago.

Next morning, I woke up early and took a shower. Later, I went outside to get some fresh air. The sounds of birds chirping and they were flying happily everywhere. Suddenly, my eyes were focused on this person that I seems I have known that person before. He, then, looked back at me and stops in front of my house. I was shocked and excited that the person was YoSeob.

“Woah! Yang YoSeob~ How are you?” I greeted him.

“Yah~ It’s been a long time, I thought I would never ever met with you again. I’m fine! You look more prettier, don’t you?” He asked.

“Lol, Seobie-ah, I’m not pretty like other girls, you know.” I said.

We were high-fiving with each other. We talked about our lives with each other. Then, DongWoon’s name popped in my head. I decided to asked YoSeob about him.

“YoSeob-ah, may I asked you a question? I hope you wouldn’t mind.” I told him.

“What is it?” He replied.

“Where’s DongWoon? It’s been a long time, I haven’t met him. Where is he?” I asked with a sad tone.

“DongWoon-i? I don’t know how I’m gonna say this to you. Do you really need to know about him right now?” He asked with a demanding tone.

“Yes, YoSeob. NOW. Please tell me.” I said.

“The truth is, DongWoon-i have passed away 3 weeks after you had migrated to Australia . I’m sorry, Min-ah.” He told me.

“Seobie-ah, you’ve got to be kidding me. You must be joking, don’t you? Please tell me it wasn’t true. You’re kidding, right?” I replied back at him.

“It’s true, Min-ah. Why would I be joking about this? It’s true. He was sick since he was 17.”

“He was sick? Sick? What do you mean he was sick? He was looking as if he was healthy back then. Why he died, Yoseob-ah?” My tears started rolling down on my cheeks.

“Yes, he’s sick. He got something in his brain. Min-ah, are you crying?” He looked at me and tried to wipe off my tears.

“What?! In his brain? How did you know?!” I squeaked.

“Woon’s mother told about his sickness to my mother, then my mother told to me. I was shocked. When she told me, I quickly rushed to Woon’s house. But he was not there.” YoSeob explained.

“Then, what?” My tears started rolling down.

“I asked her sister where was he. She said he’s already at the nearest hospital. After that, I quickly hopped on my bicycle and paddling as fast I could to the hospital. When I reached there, I went to the counter and asked the nurse where was Woon’s ward. After the nurse told me, I run towards the ward, and there I saw DongWoon lying on the bed with bandage on his head and he was breathing with the support from the mask.” He stops.

I was completely silent.

“Then, he saw me outside his room, and then he was giving signals using his weak hands and asked me to sat near him. When I came in, I was filled up with tears.” He paused for a while.

“After that?” I interrupted.

“He tried to talked to me, but he couldn’t speak clearly. Then, he gave me a letter and asked me to passed it to you. We talked about childhood to reduce his stress for a while. But suddenly, he started choking. He couldn’t breathe. I tried to called the nurse and the doctor, but he grabbed my hand and demanding me not to call for anyone’s help. He asked me to accompanied him. So, I stayed all night with him until his last time of his life. Next morning, I found him asleep and he was smiling. I tried to wake him up, but it was no use. He’s gone. Then, I felt something was written on the palm of my hand. Woon writes, YOSEOB-AH, WE ALWAYS BE FRIEND FOREVER. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND MIN TOO. Annyeong, chingu. That’s what he wrote, Min-ah.” He ended.

“YoSeob-ah, can you show me where Woon was buried and his grave? I want to meet him for the last time. Please.” I begged.

“You wanna go right now?” He asked.

“YES. I wanna go now.” I demanded.

I hoped on his scooter and off we went to see DongWoon’s grave. Fifteen minutes later, we reached at the graveyard place. There was a lot of tombstone everywhere. At last we found it. When I saw the tombstone, I cried very loudly while holding the tombstone. YoSeob tried to comfort me. We sat there for an hour and decided to go back.

On our way reaching back home, we stopped for a while at the beach where we always went to when we were still kids. Suddenly, YoSeob stops me, and he gave me the letter that DongWoon had asked him to gave it to me. Then, he walked to the seashore and left me alone to let me read the letter.

As I opened the letter, I started to cry.

TO: MY LOVABLE FRIEND, MIN

MIN-AH, WHEN YOU READ THIS LETTER, YOU HAVE ALREADY KNOW THAT I’M ALREADY NOT IN THIS WORLD ANYMORE. ALTHOUGH I’M NOT WITH BOTH OF YOU ANYMORE IN THIS WORLD, BUT I’M STILL IN YOUR AND YOSEOB’S HEART. REMEMBER THAT.

I’M SORRY I DIDN’T TELL YOU ABOUT MY SICKNESS. I DON’T WANT YOU TO BE WORRIED ABOUT ME WHEN YOU’VE ALREADY REACHED AUSTRALIA. I’M REALLY SORRY.

MIN-AH, I WANT TO APOLOGIZED TO YOU THAT I ALWAYS AVOID WHEN WE WERE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT BECAUSE AT THAT TIME. I WAS AT THE HOSPITAL ALL THE TIME. AND THE REASON WHY YOSEOB ALWAYS KEEP AWAY FROM YOU BECAUSE HE WAS AFRAID THAT YOU ASKED ABOUT ME. PLEASE FORGIVE BOTH OF US.

LAST OF ALL, PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, MIN-AH. PLEASE CONSIDER YOSEOB’S LOVE FOR YOU. HE REALLY CARES ABOUT YOU. I HOPE YOU ACCEPT HIM AS WHAT HE IS. DON’T WAIT FOR  ME. CONTINUE ON YOUR LIFE WITH HAPPINESS.

GOODBYE. REMEMBER  ME ALWAYS. ANNYEONG.

FROM: YOUR DEAREST FRIEND, WOON :)

I folded the letter and put it in my pocket. And I called YoSeob’s name.

“Yang YoSeob~!” I yelled his name.

“Yes, Min-ah. What’s wrong? You want me to wipe your tears again?” He asked like he was totally worried.

I hugged him. “Seobie-ah, do you make a promise to Woon to take care of me when he’s not around anymore?” I asked him.

“Yes. Why is that? Does that burdened you?” He said.

“Not at all.” I replied.

“I Love You,” He whispered in my ear.

“Me too.” I replied him back.

“Yes, yes, yes~ Please, I miss her.” He begged me.

“Arasseo, adeul-i. Let’s buy some flowers for mom before visiting her, okay?” I said.

“Yes, appa.” He smiled.

“Now, which flower suits your mom the best?” I asked him to choose.

“The sunflower, the sunflower!” He shouted and points at it.

“Okay, YoungMin. Let me pay for the flowers first. Then, we’ll visit her. Arasseo?”  I replied.

“OKAY!” He giggled.
