Baekhyun and Chanyeol emerge from the bushes, once again.

“Do you like the name Yoona?” Luhan asks.

Luhan and Sehun are sitting, cross-legged, at the foot of the lighthouse. Luhan has a book in his hands, the same book from before.

Luhan turns a page and Sehun sighs, looking at the scenery around him. The sun is setting.

“Yes, why?”

“We should name her Yoona.”

“Who?”

Luhan points upwards, watching as the light makes its 360⁰ circuit of the sky, signaling boats floating in the ocean.

“Come on.”

Sehun takes Luhan’s hand, and leads him up to the top of the lighthouse. Baekhyun and Chanyeol look up. After a few seconds, they see shadows dancing in the light.

Baekhyun shakes his head and turns away.

“What’s wrong?” Chanyeol asks.

“I hate watching people make mistakes.” Baekhyun replies, wiping a tear from his cheek. “I can’t stand it.”

“Then lets find the next link and figure out what’s going on. It’ll be over soon.” Chanyeol reassures his partner.

“Alright.”

The scene fades out, and it seems that Sehun’s memories are collapsing in on themselves, something that is commonplace in the later stages of life.




“Hang on a second.” Baekhyun hushes Chanyeol.

“I’m so proud of you, Junmyeon.”

Sehun and Luhan greet an older woman, someone that Sehun looks close to.

“Is that Sehun’s mother?” Chanyeol asks.

“Could be,” Baekhyun responds.

“But why did she call him Junmyeon?”

Luhan seems to share the same sentiments as Chanyeol, as his face slowly turns ashen.

“Why does she call you that?” Luhan asks, taking Sehun’s arm and pulling him off to the side.

“Oh… she just calls me that, after my father. He passed away before I was born, it’s just a nickname.”

Sehun plants a kiss on Luhan’s lips to reassure him.

“It just seems strange.”

“Luhan, I’d prefer it if you used my birth name, Sehun.” Luhan nods.

“OK.”

Luhan smiles at Sehun when the latter takes his hand, leading him down through the bushes and back to the highway. Baekhyun and Chanyeol are quick to follow suit.

“Where do you think we’re going?” Chanyeol asks.

“No idea.”

“Hang on a minute…” Baekhyun turns to his partner, following with his eyes the direction Chanyeol is pointing to.

They’re by the roadside, and Luhan is hunched over, looking at something small and unfortunate that must have been run over.

It’s a rabbit.

“Is that the source of the obsession?” Chanyeol asks. Baekhyun shrugs.

“Isn’t it a little weird to obsess over some roadkill?” he continues.

Baekhyun has no response for Chanyeol, instead he’s watching through the memory.

Luhan looks very upset, and Sehun is as confused about his lover’s actions as usual.

Baekhyun’s eyes flitter down to his screen, and the dead rabbit begins to glow.

“What even?” Chanyeol exclaims loudly.

“Apparently this is a very important memory?” Baekhyun grimaces at the smell that permeates the air. It’s horrible.





“Where the hell are we?” Chanyeol asks.

There’s an odd smell in this room, a mix of mothballs, sick, and old socks that makes Baekhyun gag.

Chanyeol snatches the laptop from Baekhyun’s hands and presses a few buttons. Within seconds, the air is crisp and clean. Baekhyun sighs in relief.

“Thanks.”

“No problem.”

Baekhyun looks around. It’s somewhere they haven’t been before, and it’s anything but inviting. An old looking wardrobe stands off to the side, shoved as far as possible into the corner.

A desk covered with paperwork fills about half of the room, with two seats sitting adjacent it. The walls are a sickly green, and Baekhyun is reminded of that horrible smell.

Luhan and Sehun sit in the two chairs, what looks like a doctor of some sort leans over the desk with his arms clasped.

“…Is the diagnosis certain?” Sehun asks.

The doctor lets out a heaving sigh and flicks through some paper before him.

“Yes, unfortunately…”

Sehun jumps up out of his chair and begins pacing the room feverishly.

“Like many cases like it, sadly… the diagnosis is rather late,” the doctor continues.

“If we’d discovered it sooner, you wouldn’t have had to go through so much.”

Luhan hums to himself, rocking back and forth in the chair. Sehun wishes he could kiss the smaller man, but there’s nothing that he can do that seems to leave an impression on Luhan anymore.

“Do you have any books on it?” Luhan asks quietly.

“Yes, here,” the doctor responds, handing him a thick, worn book. “You can borrow it for now, but please bring it back when you’re done.”

The doctor glances warily at Sehun.

“You should also give the book a read. It’ll help you understand more about Luhan’s condition.”

Sehun shakes his head adamantly.

“No!” he asserts.

The doctor shrugs.

“Why not?”

“I’d rather not read it. I don’t want it to change things between us.”

The doctor picks up his papers and straightens them on the desk.

“It’s up to you.”

The scene fades out, to what seems like only seconds before.

This time, the couple is in a waiting room, and Baekhyun and Chanyeol hover over what looks like the reception desk. The carpet beneath them is sullied by constant wear.

“Can you please turn the clock off, it’s bothering him.” Sehun tells the receptionist.

“Its no problem,” Luhan remarks from his spot. There is an uncomfortable gap between the pair.

Baekhyun lets out a small sniffle, and Chanyeol quietly comforts his partner with a gentle pat on the back.

“Don’t worry; I’ll turn it off. If there’s anything else uncomfortable for your partner, let me know.” the receptionist responds politely.

Chanyeol snaps a finger, surprising Baekhyun.

“That explains the grandfather clock in the house, remember? The hands weren’t working.”

Baekhyun thinks for a moment and nods. Chanyeol is right.

Sehun walks back to Luhan and stands awkwardly by his side, watching as Luhan’s eyes study the floor.

Chanyeol points at the small stuffed teddy bear between Luhan’s feet.

“Why does he always carry that thing around?”

Baekhyun shrugs, and takes Chanyeol’s hand.

“The clock’s the memento. Let’s just go. I don’t like this place very much.”
