Like a Fool

Like a fool.

I just stood there, waiting for you stupidly.

You said that we would have fun together.

You promised.

You said you would bring me to all the different places.

You promised.

You said you would make me happy for as long as you could.

You promised.

You said that you would come.

You pinky-promised.

I picked out my best outfit for you.

Like a fool.

I arrived early, not wanting to be later than you.

Like a fool.

I stood there waiting in the freezing weather.

Like a fool.

I stayed past midnight, convincing myself that you would come.

Like a fool.

You forgot, didn't even bother to note down.

I finally left at the crack of dawn.

Text messages went ignored.

Nobody called the other, one was afraid of being a nuisance, the other didn't care.

A week later, guess who has his arms around my cousin's waist as they make their way downtown?
