The Snow Deer

Description

She didn’t heed the warnings of those wiser than her. Therefore, she wandered off, far off, deep into the forest, where time will freeze and she too will succumb to the curse.

Foreword

Yunhee wandered through the blizzard.

The snow came down hard as she struggled to walk.

She had been trying to find her way out of this forest for what felt like an hour.

Her teeth chattered as she rubbed her hands together in a failing attempt to keep herself warm.

Her vision blurred as something skipped out of a nearby bush. Yunhee curiously followed.

She could see it now as she chased after it. It was a deer. It’s antlers tall and proud, and fur almost as white and pure as the snow. Yunhee's legs wobbled and they screamed for her to stop running after the deer as a burning sensation spread throughout them. Yet she didn’t listen. Something compelled Yunhee to follow. She didn’t know what, but she knew the force compelling her was stronger than the stinging cold she was feeling at this moment in time. She followed it until the two of them broke out into a clearing, where a large mansion stood. She rubbed her eyes wondering if it was just an illusion. She knew it wasn’t when the deer skipped towards the front door, and was let in by a tall handsome boy with a rather blank expression.

‘It’s real’ she thought as she stepped forward attempting to make her way to the mansion.

However, she had lost all strength now and quickly fell to her knees.

The frigid snow fell thick and began to cover Yunhee as her face pressed into the snow. Her vision of the mansion blurred again as her eyes shut and she let the cold take over.
