Review: Key to Her Soul
Greyskies Review and Beta Shop [Open for REVIEWS ONLY]Story Title: Key to Her Soul
Author: KatyMikayla
Summary [As given by the author]: It's about a fox who basically sacrifices everything she's ever known/has to find her soul mate again
Plot: 8.5/10
The plot itself was pretty unique, so good job on that. However, it did get rather confusing at parts. Also, I can't quite figure out what happened with the time skips, because 'The Past' is 1800 BC, 'The Present' is 1800 AD, but 'The Future' is back to 1800 BC? It just didn't make sense.
Character Development: 8/10
I was not particularly pleased with Luhan's character, as I couldn't really figure out what exactly was happening to him. All I could figure out was that he was a child in the beginning, and then after that was he a still a child? His character still seemed to be very immature, but I don't understand what exactly happened to him. Donghae also seemed rather childish, but I'm not familiar with Super Junior so I can't attest for the accuracy of his characterization.
Spelling+Grammar: 8.5/10
I've covered this in a past review, but I don't particularly agree with the capitalization of 'hyung,' 'noona,' etc. As they are not proper nouns, I don't believe they should be capitalized as such.
You also tend to not put commas where you should, and some parts of the story just seemed somewhat childishly written. There were some words scattered throughout that were misspelled or you used the wrong word, for example in chapter 1, you said "And with that being said, the Demon King and Prince disappeared, leaving Eunji along with the human child." however, it should be alone.
Layout: 9.5/10
Not a big fan of the background since I kind of don't like them, but eh. I liked your divider things though. Very nice.
Overall Opinion: 7/10
I'm not a big Super Junior fan, so this story didn't particularly appeal to me. Although the plot was intriguing in theory, it just didn't really pull me in. The characterization generally seemed to be 'immature' for most of the characters, which kind of irritated me since this seemed like it was supposed to be more of a serious story. It's not a bad story, and those who like Super Junior/Donghae might like it more than I did, but it's a pass for me.
Final Grade: 83%—B-
