The CD player whirred and clicked as the track he’d left on repeat came to an end and began again. The gentle low key of piano and the slow drawn out notes of strings mixed with the heartbeat of the bass drum and the blunted ting of cymbals, a soft almost eerie voice caressed the melody before it consumed the song and the singer laid it all out in a breath taking chorus that gripped the knot in the brunette’s stomach as he closed his eyes for a moment, now understanding why he’d kept this CD.
