Unwanted

01| the unwanted child

Sometimes we always don’t get what we want in life. It’s only natural for us humans to feel jealously towards others and even when some have everything in the whole there’s always something they lack.

Riin’s Aunt stood at her door waiting for her to finish up so they could leave. Her Aunt, Chae-Yeon had always seen Riin as her own daughter despite the fact that her sister, Riin’s mother had stabbed her in the back and ran off with her fiancé, Riin’s father. She was hurt, how could her sister do such a thing to her. And every time she sees how much Riin takes after her mother there’s always that hatred deep down wanting to be release.

After a year since they eloped, they were found died, killed by robbers. That left their only child Jang Riin in her care. As much as she hated her sister for doing this to her she had a responsibility now and that was to take care of Riin and raise her to not be like mother.

Stealing something that did not belong to her.

Riin was a straight A student graduating at the top of her class, class president, just like every other normal kid but what makes her different is that Riin works in a brothel. Riin works only in the front, taking calls, dealing with bills, and fetch the couple clothing if needed.

“Remember, you are not allowed to go off with any man. Understood?” Chae-Yeon told her. “Yeh, I understand.”

As much as Chae-Yeon is willing to watch over Riin and as much as she loves Riin there will always be those similarities between Riin and her mother that the thought of seeing Riin makes her hate Riin even more.

As the two went their own ways Riin couldn’t help but take a last look at her Aunt. She knew that her Aunt hates her even though she doesn’t know why she knows that somewhere deep inside sometimes her Aunt doesn’t even want to look at her as well as be in the same room.

Riin was an unwanted child, not even her parents wanted her. To her it was a relief of not being wanted. She didn’t have to worry about others nor having others worried about her. It was somewhat a blessing. Kids would call her ‘Riin the unwanted child’. Little Riin would cry nonstop because she didn’t understand why she lived in a whole where she didn’t have parents. Her Aunt would scold at her for crying. “Kids like you shouldn’t cry because you don’t have parents. You should be telling those bastards to fu.ck off. For once stand up for yourself, you are at no right to let those wannabes talk sh.it to you like you’re nothing.” her Aunt once told her. “Give them something to be afraid of. Just the thought of hearing the name Jang Riin gives them the creeps.” and that is just what she did.

While kids played at the park, she played with her heart.

playing with her heart, is that even possible?

Riin trained her heart not to feel, she train herself not to pity others nor herself after all she was not an orphan but rather an unwanted child. They didn’t care for her so why would she care for them and when she cries thinking of her late parents she gets even more frustrated with herself. At times like this Riin would do all the possibilities to make her stop, from drinking alcohol to cutting herself or even trying to kill herself. You see Riin does not want to know the feelings of being hurt, love, happiness or any other kind. She wants to know the feeling of nothing.

Riin fought constantly throughout her school years, of course just having the name ‘Jang Riin’ be heard makes you want to run as far as your legs could take you. And of course there will always be those jacka.ss idiots who thinks that a little girl like her wouldn’t be able to send them where they belong, crawling at to their moms’ because their a.ss kicked by a girl. She had once broken a boy’s nose with one punch, that’s all it took.

With the grades that she had it was hard to expel her from school. She was the main reason that brought fame to her school; it would obliviously be stupid to expel her. Rumors said that she once almost killed a girl because she called Riin a ’jealous bi.tch’.

Two words.

That’s all it took to send her to the hospital, police said that they’ve never seen such a horrible case. Bones were crushed, every bone in the girl’s body was either damage or broken. Riin was so sick of high school dramas that she drop out and took home schooling instead. She hated those people, hypocrites. They love to put others through pain but when they themselves get the a.ss kicking that they deserve suddenly she becomes the bad one.

“You could’ve killed her.” Her Aunt said after returning home from the police station. “Yeah, so what? She should be thanking me for not killing her.”

Chae-Yeon didn’t say anything because she understood Riin, the pain that Riin went through everyday during her younger years. The bruises from those fights, the cuts that she would do to get rid her of feelings, the many broken bones she did herself.

Yes, Riin would do anything at all cost just to shut the feelings wanting to be free locked. That’s how Riin dealt with the obstacles she face.

“Dong Bang Shin Ki Xiah Junsu and So Nyeo Shi Dae leader Kim Taeyeon..-” Riin turned off the television. She despises celebrities who are always smiling like everything about them and their lives are perfect. She hated how everything they do must be perfect, she hated perfectionists. It was a slap in the face of how better they think they are. Just the thought of those faces makes her want to puke, how can such a young woman have such a strong hatred towards people, because people are the reason why society is the way it is. It’s because the cruelty that comes from humans.

“Riin let’s go home, it’s been a long day.” Chae-Yeon waited for Riin put away her papers and put on her jacket before the two walk out. “How’d everything go?” Riin said trying to break the silence. Her Aunt took blew out the smoke from her cigarette, “Like I said before it’s been a long day.”

“How many costumers did you get?”

Chae-Yeon scoffed before exhaling the smoke, “Three.”

“Three?” Riin surprised. “Tch, these girls nothing but pieces of sh.it. Always trying to go for the big money.” Chae-Yeon threw the dying cigarette onto the sidewalk stepping on it.

“I tell you Riin, it’s good that you’re not like them, not like me. You have potential to do anything you want. Live the life that your parents didn’t, show every fu.cker that has ever look down on you because of your background and where you came from. Show those them that you are just as capable of going to school, getting a degree in a job that pays a whole lot of money. You are just as good as anyone of them maybe more.” with that said her Aunt continue to walk leaving a little space between the two of them as they walk in the cold bitter night.

And for the first time in the longest Riin actually believes everything that her Aunt said.

Chae-Yeon thought long and hard. Riin was in her room fast asleep, she thought about what happen at work today.

“You know that girl Jang Riin,” one of the female workers ask. The others nodded indicating they know who she was talking about, “Well I heard that she nearly kill this girl from her old high school because the girl accidentally bump into her by mistake. And that her mom seduced her aunt's boyfriend and slept with him so that her mom could marry her dad.

Chae-Yeon couldn’t help but laugh out loud, “Seems like you guys never really grew out of high school.”

“What?”

“You heard me,” Chae-Yeon grabs the girl by the chin turning her face back and forth examining her. She slap the girl causing her to fall, Chae-Yeon knelt down to her level grabbing her face, “If I ever hear you or any of your little friends talk sh.it like that again I’ll cut every one of you bi.tches tongue got that?”

The girl in horror nodded, “Good.”

Slowly, and quietly Chae-Yeon open Riin’s door she makes her way to where Riin is asleep. She sits on the bed softly brushing her hair through Riin’s hair, “You should not be suffering for your mother’s wrong doing. You deserve so much better.” Chae-Yeon left Riin’s room and walk back to hers because she is tired after a long day.

As she lays in bed staring at the ceiling above her asking before her mind drifted off,

“Why does God think it’s fun to play with a broken soul or

better yet a lost soul…”
