A Lost Voice

Description

Hey guys.  Thank you for all the support on To Heal a Broken Soul.  I'll be writing the epilogue of that whenever I can!  School has been a boatload of stress lately.  But call me strange anyway, because I tuned out in the middle of my PreCalculus class and came up with this brilliant idea for a fic.  I probably won't have time to write it any time soon, but I'll hopefully have it done by Thanksgiving?  It'll probably a one-shot or two-shot.  So my goal now is to finish this along with the epilogue for my other fic. :)  Tell me what you guys think about this now, and subscribe if you'd like!  Feedback is appreciated. ^^

Also, I'm still not sure whose perspective this will be written in.  I'm thinking about Daehyun, Yongguk, or third-person.  I'm not that used to writing in first-person, so I'm still quite undecisive--I'm not sure if I'll do well writing in something other than third-person.  But I'm willing to give it a try if it'll make the story sound better.  If you have any suggestions, please do tell! ^^ Thank you, everyone, and I'll anticipate your support!

Foreword

"Hyung, I love it when you sing.  You make me feel like another person, as if I've been reborn."

Daehyun will never forgive himself.  It was all his fault.  He was the reason why Jongup was gone.

"It was the car behind you; you were not responsible, Daehyun-ah," Yongguk kept trying to reassure him, but Daehyun would have none of it.

Ever since that night, Daehyun had become mute.  He could no longer speak after the wave of shock had struck him as he witnessed Jongup's unconscious state.  The ambulance roared from a distance; he could hear it, but he was unable to scream for the medics to come any faster.  He was so desperate as he struggled alone to pull Jongup's body out of the crushed car, but the boy was helpless.  Daehyun couldn't even beg for help; his vocal chords had failed him.  Ever since that night, Daehyun never sang again.  The physical therapist did all she could to help him, but her efforts were fruitless.  It was final.  Daehyun had lost his voice forever.  He was struggling every day now.  The scenes of that night corrupted his brain and he experienced his days in a hospital room, constantly supervised by the nurses.  He felt like a lost soul.  But then again, how could he possibly live a life without Jongup, the only source his voice ascended from?
