The country that they lived in was foreign to them. The language, the culture, the stares they received - they were all different from the familiar smiles they used to wake up to every morning, have breakfast with every weekends, and dinner with every night - except for Thursdays- those were Amber's basketball practice nights. And for Henry, the language, the cold stares, the hostile tones, they were much different from his cheerful homey hometown. But he was glad he had them with him. Julian, and Amber. And for Julian, well, nobody would be lucky enough to figure out the older one of the three.    The three of them lived in this foreign country to pursue their dreams to become Hallyu Stars. Julian was from the same country as Henry, he was from Canada. Henry was immediately drawn to the older guy, older than him by just around four months. Julian's Canadian English accent reminded him of home. His love for hockey reminded him of his brother, and his mature demeanour made the younger guy feel less homesick.    Julian was in SM Academy long before Henry was. But nobody knew what he would be debuted as. He was tall and good looking, of course, it was one of the reasons he was trained at SM Academy. He looked more western than Henry was. While Henry had chinky eyes, Julian's larger eyes, sharp nose and tanned skin made him looked more of a foreigner even to Henry. Julian was a Chinese Canadian too. But maybe he is of mixed marriage, and Henry never bother asking. The moment Julian found out he was from Canada, the older guy immediately got up and greeted him, and Henry felt instant friendship budding between them, it was a bit different from when he first met Park Jungsoo, one of the senior trainee here, who had debuted in Super Junior. Henry heard of Super Junior, but to finally meet the leader of the pack himself, was a bit surreal for him. Maybe it was because he had no idea how Hallyu Wave really works, and thus he had no idea how popular Park Jungsoo was. Jungsoo was polite, but perhaps because of the language barrier, the oldest in the academy did not really bother to interact with him, and at first Henry felt lost. Lost, that was, until Julian came and treated him like a friend.    Henry probably reminded Julian of home. it was probably a year ago since he last visited his family in Toronto. It was probably nice to have someone to talk in English with. Julian's first few words fumbled as he tried to remember his native language, after going a year without it here in Korea. Henry grinned, showing rows of nice teeth and hiding his eyes behind his rather plump cheeks. He didnt care. Slightly accented English with some broken grammars were better than Korean, especially since it was hard for him to learn the language in a week.    Amber came into the academy a year later, looking so out of place, that it tugged Henry's heart. The girl was thin and boyish, with jet black hair messily cut. And she hid her half of her face underneath her cap. He learned that she was from America, and SM accepted her for her vocal. Amber looked tough, despite her shy exterior. At the sight Girl's Generation, Amber stiffened up, and Amber would gape after Taeyeon and Yuri, who upon seeing her reaction, giggled and walked away, whispering to one another.    "I can't believe I'm actually here," Henry heard Amber whispered to herself, and chuckled when Amber stuck out her tongue, and bit on it hard that she went "Owww! I'm not dreaming."   That was the first time he saw her, a scrawny, but tough looking girl, who spoke English, the language he understood and missed. He was certain she was the one he could truly understand without trying so hard.       Henry was a meticulous person. He calculated too much, planned so much - it made him comfortable knowing what he would eat for lunch tomorrow, so he would only bring the right amount of money in his pocket, so he wouldn't have to ask anyone for help - and truth be told, sometimes, it kept him away from things he wanted to on impulse. Henry was comfortable of planning ahead. It kept him from embarrassment, from unwanted and awkward situation. It was not until he saw Julian - the friendly Julian - walked up to Amber Liu and greeted her in English that Henry's heart fell a little, and he sort of cursed himself for using a little too long a time evaluating on the possibilities of Amber's reaction, instead of just walking up to her because that was what he really wanted to do.    He watched Julian laughed and Amber grinned. He watched Julian pointed a finger toward him and he immediately straightened up as Julian put a hand behind Amber's shoulder and walked towards him. Henry felt himself flushed.    "Hey Henry. This is Amber. Amber, Henry." Amber smiled her stiff smile - the kind that showed all her rows of teeth, but her cheeks remained the same, they didn't quite reach the eyes - and shook his clammy hand. Henry chuckled. He wanted to say something when Amber spoke up "It's so scary to be here, no one would speak to me, I was starting to think there's nobody I could talk to in English for help. I'm so glad I found you." to Julian, but Henry flushed all the same. He knew, right then he knew he liked her.     Amber initially smiled at Taeyeon and Yuri from SNSD. She knew of them, that was how she found out about Hallyu Wave. She looked up to Taeyeon as a role model. Amber thought she was very cute, but when Taeyeon giggled and walked pass her, Amber's heart stung. Nobody here would want to help her, and she felt even less welcomed. She stared at the walls, lists of trainees debuted were nailed in plaques. She couldn't believe it! She bit her tongue and it stung. Yep, this was all real.    She saw a cute looking guy sitting there alone with a violin in his hands, plucking (or pretending to pluck) on the strings, she felt him looking at her, and she was hoping he would come up to her. She needed a person to talk to to ease her nervousness. This place was so foreign, even outside, the air was denser than in her valley. She kept stealing glances at him but he was too focused on his strings to notice her.    Then, he came. A tall, exotic looking guy came up to her and introduced himself. She tore her eyes away from the violin boy and smiled at the person next to her. Julian. That was his name. She shook his hand, it was strikingly bigger than hers, and warm. She could feel an aura of friendliness radiating from him, and an expectation of friendship was budding inside her. The tall guy was handsome. She was flustered and happy at the same time, mainly because she found someone who could speak her language. She could hardly make out his slur of words, all this seemed to take her by surprise, when he ushered her to the violin boy. He was really cute. Chinky eyes and adorable smile, but reality finally sunk in and she had no one to thank to for being so welcoming to her but Julian. She couldn't wait to be more acquainted to him.        It took Henry a day to really act normal around Amber, for a shy person who doesn't talk to girls much Amber was fast to be accepted by Henry, Julian told him that night. Henry lied down in bed, his hands folded underneath his head, stared at the ceiling and said nothing until he slowly dozed off. That night, Henry dreamed of Amber, and Amber couldn't sleep right. Amber remembered her father used to sister Jackie everytime she couldn't sleep - that she is very much awake in somebody else's dream. Amber wondered in whose dream she was that caused her toss about so restlessly. Then she remembered the cute violin boy's chinky eyes when he smiles, and the tall friendly senior's voice when he welcomed her. Julian. Amber hugged tightly to her pillows. After an exhausted daydream, the girl finally succeeded in sleeping.     At the academy, Amber slowly came out of her shells, and made friends with some of the girls there.
