You stared at the message with a sigh, typing your reply quickly before sliding the phone back into your pocket. Kris was always texting you at some of the most inconvenient times to meet up—like now, when you'd just gotten out of bed. But you obliged his requests most of the time, since he was your best friend, after all.

You weren't really sure most of the time. Sure, the two of you hung out a lot and teased each other, but sometimes he would randomly hold your hand or kiss you on the forehead before the two of you parted.

Even so, you were pretty sure that the two of you weren't dating, anyways.

Because dates usually didn't involve playing basketball all day long.

"Hey Kris," you replied, walking up to him. "No basketball?"

He shook his head. "Didn't feel like playing today. Wanna just go get lunch?"

"Why didn't you just ask me to meet you there, then?" you teased. "But sure, I could go for something to eat. As long as you're paying."

He sighed. "Fine, fine."

The two of you walked around, eventually settling on going to a small restaurant.
