Probably the weirdest AU I've ever written, but certainly not the weirdest thing I've ever written.  Recently, I was given a flu vaccination, but instead of getting the shot like a normal person, I went with a LAIV.  LAIV stands for "Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine," where instead of being pricked with a needle filled with dead virus, you are administered a "nasal spray" solution of, well, live attenuated influenza virus.  AKA they shoot live virus down your nasal passages.  It's not the most pleasant experience, but if you have an insane fear of needles, it's a nice alternative... assuming you're under 50 years old.

Anyway, I always imagined that the poor little viruses in that broth must be very excited when released, only to find themselves greeted by very angry T cells hellbent on killing them all.  Worse yet, they realize that they are weak and vulnerable, incapable of properly defending themselves.  They don't replicate quickly enough and are soon decimated by the T cells, who memorize their DNA and continue the whole immunity thing for the flu season.  The thought makes me kind of feel bad for those viruses, so full of life and hope, only to be so quickly demolished.

And that's kind of what I was thinking about when writing this.
