That’s because onni exist. Monsters. Gye mal. Whatever you want to call them. And they’re real alright. Created by humans inner desires – greed, jealousy, fear, they range from wee spirits to physical beings that can hear, touch, smell, see and taste. Taking forms such as deceased family members, vampires, ghosts, or werecats – they wreak havoc in our world, causing natural disasters and lunatics everywhere.

Without a secret exorcist organization to keep the numbers down, humanity would have ceased to exist by now.

What happens to an onni when an exorcist purifies it?

It moves on, to a special place in our world called Arion. Reborne and cleansed of all bloodlust/troublemaking/death-causing urges, they are transformed into the stars in our night sky. Always watching us, twinkling from the highest perches in space.

This is where our story takes place – Earth. Seoul, South Korea. To be precise, Seoul, South Korea during the turn of the 21^st century. Our main character for this story is potential-filled, sociable and aspiring fashion designer Kang Seoyoung.

Majoring in fashion design, she has a positive outlook on life and is b with excitement to experience it.

Too bad she’s about to have a harsh dose of reality.

Characters

Kang Seoyoung

• Aspiring fashion designer and currently attending her last year of college, Seoyoung, 23 and full of life, she's ready to tackle the world with her positive attitude. 
• Sociable, funny, and kind with long brown hair, she wouldn't hurt a fly. Her bright personality has earned her good friends and a loving family.
• Besides her studies, she works part-time at a small bookstore, where she reads fantasy and supernatural novels. Even though she doesn't believe in ghosts herself, Seoyoung likes using her imagination to take her places.

Lee Joon

• One of the first onni to walk the Earth, Joon is a mysterious and proud vampire that resides in Seoul. 
• The personal creator of several hundred newborns, he takes a special interest in Seoyoung... for reasons unknown.
• He's also considered a huge threat to the human race by the Exorcist Society, but remains at large.

Yeo Hoonmin

• Content, confidant and straighforward, 25 year-old Hoon is happy with who he is and his life. He may not be a billionaire or a rockstar - but he makes enough to  get by and he's fine with that.
• Always calm and level-headed (with the occasional show of aegyo) he is a solo composer and singer who does the occasional gig at a local pub. 
• His father is an exorcist within the secret society. Hoon himself has the power to see onni, but he prefers to remain ignorant. That fact in itself is preventing him from seeing spirits clearly. He pretty much wants to live a life without burden but is mature enough to shoulder it.

More on the Exorcist Society (ES) and Arion

• When onni die, they are reborn and cleansed of their bloodlust/troublemaking personalities into stars of our Milky Way galaxy. Watching us from their perch, they merely observe humanity's growth. They have no power of their own.
• The ES is filled with generations of families to fight against the legions of dark monsters that hunt silently in the Earth. They use spirit fans or charms to dispell beings to Arion.
• Onni are the leading cause of pandemics, unexplained murders, natural disasters and severe human behaviors.
• If a member of the ES burns their charm, it means that they don't want anything to do with onni. Doing so will cause them to lose their 'sight' and all exorcist powers.
