The crown prince was pacing back and forth, obviously not sleeping even though the clock had stricken two. I was summoned to take care of him for the night, yet I decided to watch him from outside of his dimly lighted bedroom. I could sense that there was something that kept bothering him and if it was alone time that he needed, I was more than willing to give it to him.

Precisely one hour after I took my hiding spot right behind the door, Prince Jaejoong suddenly called my name. He knew I was here all along. Taking a deep breath, I stepped my way inside of his spacious bedroom. I bowed down and kept my head down, both as a form of respect and slight fear of him.

"What were you doing outside there?" His back was facing me, but I could picture his face at the moment. He was unhappy.

"I was looking out for your majesty." I replied back as softly as I could, but a second later my fear came true. He was not just unhappy, but also angry.

"I do not need you to look out for me." He seethed out ever words through greeted teeth; face now was just a few millimeter from mine. I backed away a little; my shocked-stricken eyes met his angry ones. I immediately tore my eyes away from his, unable to stand the uncomfortable closeness and his menacing figure.

"I'm sorry, your majesty." was all that I could utter. It was not like I never faced this side of him. However, no matter how many times I have, it still scares me to see that beautiful face to become so intimidating like that. I silently prayed that his anger wouldn't get the better of him.

He broke the awfully long silence with a surprisingly calm and tender voice. I got the courage to slightly look up at him. JPrince Jaejoong looked… worried.

"Where have you been?"

"I was delivering an important package from the head mistress of the palace kitchen to her acquaintance.”

Prince Jaejoong looked displeased upon hearing my answer.

“And who is she to order you around?”

“She was in short of people and I was fortunately vacant for the task.”

“And who said you were vacant?”

“Well… I wasn’t given any task, so…”

“Do you not remember of your task to always serve me all the time?”

“Yes, I do. But last night you chose Lady Lee to serve you for the day.”

He grunted out in displeasure.

What has gotten into him to be this irrational? I never ever have seen him so frustrated over this kind of simple matter. I knew he was unhappy but that doesn’t mean he could blame me so blatantly; moreover over things that weren’t my fault. Something was definitely bothering him.

“What happened, Jae?” I lightly touched his arm; using his nickname to mildly remind him that it was just me, us. He didn’t move for a while; his expression was one that I couldn’t read. I looked up at him, and then I saw his eyes. It was shiny, glassy; and as if my mind was playing a trick on me - which I highly doubted, he almost looked like he would tear up any moment.

Prince Jaejoong closed the distance between us, our bodies tightly pressed against each other. He buried his face in my hair, arms tightened around my torso. I returned the hug while his back and raking my fingers through his hair. He was in need of comfort. I wouldn’t press him anymore if that was what he needed at the moment. However, he left me wondering without any answer or the slightest clue of what happened to him.

Hello there! I'm finally starting a new story after such a long time of hiatus and honestly I feel nervous about it.
