Soft Place to Fall (Kai/Chanyeol)
Caught Up In The Moment

Jongin limps down the dark and quiet hallway of his school's dorm. He chews his full lower
lip and tries to push away the thoughts of his uncertain future. He knows painfully well that
his waist injury can stop him from dancing and same time he is highly aware that he might
have to say goodbye to his biggest and actually only dream if he stops attending to his
dance classes and takes a break to let the injury to heal. He had pondered and pondered
endlessly these bleak alternatives in his head and they had started to suffocate him. He
had felt a tight grip squeezing his chest painfully and ended up trying to escape it by
leaving his suffocating dorm room. Unfortunately every agonizing step keeps reminding
him of everything he wants to make extinct.

Chanyeol leans closer to the shower room's mirror and squints to see the reflection. The
smudgy oval on the mirror stays blurred and no matter how much he tries, it doesn't get
any clearer. He formes his bright trademark smile, but he can't tell if he succeeds to hide
the pain and fear like he intended to or not. He closes his useless eyes and clenches his
fists. The following day would bear the opportunity he had waited for all his life and he
needs to learn to smile again to get his act together before it.

Jongin sees a shed of bright light skimming from one of the dorm's shared shower rooms.
It shouldn't be in use this late at night so he decides to distract his clamped up mind with
nagging to some poor soul. He opens the door and halts. After staring for few seconds he
leans against the door frame to study the sight in front of him.
In the room a tall boy around his age is leaning heavily to the sink in front of the mirror
clearly oblivious of the fact that he isn't alone anymore. The boy's delicate lips stretches to
a wide smile and Jongin feels his stomach clenching tightly. The smile is wide and bright,
but the amount of strength it clearly requires seems tremendous. But it isn't the forced
smile that catches his attention him. What makes Jongin want to turn around and flee to
his room to cry under his blanket are the boy's eyes. They are forced big and round and
they shimmer with unshed tears. The tear stains on the boy's face reveals the previous
