I'll assure you that there will be no (or less) sad stuffs. I dislike making people cry. Except crying of happiness.

The story takes place in South Korea. (Yes, the home of your kpop stuffs)
How you must imagine the place:

-The main setting mostly take place in an area where there are beaches, fishing port, some not so high cliffs, and hills.
-If you stand in where I stand right now, 
you will see a road in front of you. Let's imagine that there's no vehicles on the road. You can see a stretch of beach and sea in front of the road. You can get to there if you just cross the road. There's a small bus stop at the end of the road. That's for you if you want to get out of the town using a bus service.
-Now, behind you is the school gate . (You will know about this school later).
-If you walk more to the left until the end of the school gates, there's a street leading to houses there. The houses are different than the other one. Modern houses, eclectic. Whatever you're thinking of. 
-Let's get back to the front school gate. If you walk more to the right, you will a street with trees and vines near the street. The place there is still untouched. the street will lead you to some still standing traditional korean village. Yangban houses, Joseon temples. With some number of peoples living there.
-If you wnat to go to more urban places, the left end of the road will lead you to it. The right side of the road will lead you to more houses and fishing ports where there will be a lot of seafood there. Fresh from the sea.
