Escape Me.

Description

The seven of them, they were rogue vampires in an ugly world.

Caught in a battle they were not meant to fight, they run and hide.

Their enemies are many; humans, werewolves, and even their own kind.

The only one who can save them is a Priest with the blood of Time.

But whilst they protect themselves and each other, they can't be shielded from their own nightmares.

Where can you run, to escape from yourself?

Foreword

Behind the curtain of night, nimble fingers danced across the piano keys. The moonlight shone through the floor length window, shrouding the sitting figure and the piano in a pool of black. The silhouette was slender and elegant, and although he couldn't make out their facial features, the softly glowing light behind them did nothing to smudge the delicate jaw line and swan-like neck.

The music cut off abruptly, and the figure turned towards him. Mesmerised, he reached out a hand to the ethereal entity.

Time seemed to stop. In slow motion, he saw the shape leap an impossible height into the air, not unlike that of a hunting lioness. The pounce knocked him onto his back, and he felt hands on his shoulders and knees on his thighs, pinning him down. Finally, he could see its face.

She was a beautiful thing, with skin the colour of ivory and eyes like glittering red stars in a lustrous black sky. Her lips were the colour of peach coral, and felt cool on his skin when she pressed them against his neck. A burning pain flared in his jugular and he felt something wet spurt out. The air filled with the scent of copper.

And even as his blood was drained, he couldn't help but fall in love with her.
