Nightmares
Fragment of Dreams || TopFany one-shot collectionA/N: Another sappy drabble, another short one-shot written in under half an hour. Drabbles come so much more easily to me than writing an actualy story. Enjoy!
Her dreams were as vivid as the sun’s rays shining through her window. Tiffany remembered every single of her dreams, the good ones and the bad ones.
She remembered her dream from two years ago, where she was living the California dream, cruising down the road with her Korean-American born boyfriend in his pure white Suburu STi, blasting the songs of Fall Out Boys and sometimes a mixture of Drake and on occasion Epik High.
She dreamt of her mother, where her mother had lived through her cancer, and had been there to support Tiffany's ambitions of becoming a singer, and watching her on stage as she performed “Dear Mom” with tears in her eyes.
Tiffany dreamt of a certain enigmatic rapper, whose baritone voice had her weak in the knees that she could hardly breathe. She dreamt of that man, fantasized about him, to the point that it distracted her even during dance practice.
The rapper himself would chuckle and tell her she’s silly, that she didn’t have to dream about him anymore because he was by her side, doing the things she fantasized about with her, kissing her and touching her, holding her, and whispering sweet nothings. The rapper with the low baritone voice would only sing for her, rap for her and no one else.
Tiffany only dreamed happy dreams and she was grateful for that.
But then the fights came and went, and the mistrusts, and the misunderstandings. She felt like her whole world was falling apart. Seunghyun didn’t love her anymore. Seunghyun was cheating on her, or Seunghyun just didn’t think this secret relationship was going to work out. All of these heart wrenching things went through her head. And that was when the nightmares came.
She dreamt of the darkness. She dreamt that Seunghyun didn’t want to do anything with her anymore, that he despised her even after their bittersweet breakup. She dreamt that Seunghyun would ignore her and walk away with another woman as beautiful as Tiffany by his side.
Tiffany dreamt of a nightmare that put her through constant turmoil.
And she wake up crying in the middle of the night, sweat and tears, face red and bags under her eyes.
She missed him dearly, as she grasped the empty spot next to her bed, where he used to secretly sneak into her dorm room and slip under the covers to scoop her in his arms and hold her tight.
“What’s wrong Miyong?”
His voice sounded across the dark room. It was thundering and raining, and Seunghyun was perched upon her window, just stepping in. He was wet, his entire body shivering, as if he ran in the rain without thought.
Tiffany chocked back a cry, fearful that her mind was playing tricks. But her body moved on instinct, and immediately, she jumped out of bed. She sprinted into his arms, not caring if the water that dripped from his hair and body got on her. She bawled her eyes out, embracing the man that she thought she had lost.
“Yah, what did you dream about this time?”
It was only a nightmare. A stupid, stupid nightmare. And their fights, their misunderstandings, the so called cheating and the “I’m not in love with you anymore” break-up, all vanished.
And when she told him about the nightmares through her sobs and hiccups, after he had pulled off his drenched clothing, climbed under her warm sheets, and kissed her tears away, he told her the same thing as he did every night,
“You’re so silly Miyong. I’ll never let that happen.”
And she knew he’d always be faithful to her.
Tiffany sighed and relaxed in his embrace, breathing in the smell of after rain cologne.
She dreamt again, this time about an older Seunghyun holding a young child with crescent shaped eyes in his arms.
