1. Angst

Drip, drip, drip.

There are times when people feel broken. Not the type of broken when your finger dislocates. It’s the type when you feel as if you’re a doll hurled fast onto the ground, then stepped on again and again by an unrelenting foot, until all your insides are crushed together in an inseparable mess.

Park Bom couldn’t help but feel this way.

It had taken her a lot of courage; to be able to compose herself and walk up to him just like how she rehearsed repeatedly at home. To hand him the love note that had her spent days and nights writing. To walk in a graceful demeanor and put on a warm and dulcet smile. It had taken her a lot.

And Seunghyun just have to crush that tiny hope of hers, like what he did to the crisp white paper.

Drip, drip, drip.

Park Bom’s hand fell to her side, but her fingers were still clenched tightly over the penknife. As she recalled how Seunghyun had so cruelly sneered at her in front of everyone, she couldn’t help but swing her hand across her wrist again. There were bigger splotches on the carpet now, but Park Bom couldn’t care less. She exhaled slowly, leaning against the smudgy window pane.

She would show him the scars tomorrow. That would be enough. The ones he made in her heart needn’t be visible.

2. Poetry (TOP's point of view)

If being here with you is a dream

I’d rather not wake up

For gazing at you this way, it seems

Brings a melody sweeter than a harp

Your voice is like honey,

Your eyes a replica of the ocean

The perfect combination of these

Would make a beautiful concoction

You ask, why did you buy the roses?

You don’t like flowers, do you?

And I reply, I bought them regardless,

Because they reminded me of you

You remind me of everything

From roses to butterflies to berries

Of everything beautiful, for example -

The reincarnation of a fairy

As we lie down surrounded by sheets

Your hair’s scent overwhelming my senses

I catch a glimpse of that wedding ring

And I can’t help but feel sadness

If only reality can be this kind

If only he didn’t exist

Then maybe we can be like that as well

And not only in my dreams

Now that you are beside me

Your hand still resting on my waist, caressing

I can never feel you near enough

The distance is unsettling

So come here, my darling

Hold me close, hold me tight

Let us enjoy this moment for as long we can

Before I wake up tonight

3. Romance

Park Bom and Seunghyun were just grateful to have the day off together. It has been quite a while since they went out or even seen each other – after all, they both had their own careers to focus on. So spending a day together was considered as a rare, but exciting thing.

Seunghyun had prepared flowers beforehand, while Park Bom spent the entire morning dressing up. When they eventually met though, none cared about the flowers or the dress, only focusing on the presence of the other. Smiles formed almost instantly, and their date started with just a simple and warm greeting. No dramatic hugs or kisses.

They decided to go to the park for the afternoon. Park Bom had made preparations for a picnic, and so the duo spent the rest of their time sitting on a laid out mat, eating handmade sandwiches and making idle conversation. Whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery in silence, Park Bom brushed her hand lightly across Seunghyun’s, and Seunghyun, taking the hint, interlocked her fingers with his, squeezing them lightly. Time went past, and soon they departed to have dinner at a nearby restaurant.

At night, as the couple stopped in front of Park Bom’s residence, Seunghyun grabbed the girl and pulled her into a long, passionate kiss. And that itself conveyed everything; the goodbye, the “I’ll see you soon” and of course, the three redundant words.

Maybe love could be so simple.
