The Beast grunted as a faded petal fell from the once full of life, vibrant pink rose. Time was turning, and only so much was left for the hideous creature. He swung his head towards the open window at the end of the room, which was glowing from the late moonlight, providing the only light source for the room, other than the glowing flower. The monster pulled his hand up to his mane to run his hand through his hair, which was already swaying from the breeze, but a surge of pure anger ripped through his body. His finger clutched onto a patch of hair and he yanked, trying to distract himself from the pain he felt in his heart. Although, there was no pain. There was nothing. No emotions other than anger and loneliness. The love that was once in his heart had vanished, along with all the people who had ever cared for him, now he only received their pity. He pulled his head back further, fingers still entwined with his mane and let out a long howl, full of every emotion he could pour into it, just like every night, when he would come up to the tower to see the rose. The rose that started everything that was wrong with his life. It shook the walls and disrupted the silence of the cloudless night until he turned and ripped himself away from the sight of the rose, now slowly turning limp with every minute that passes.
