Distracted

Distracted

Yay! After a few months, it's finally done! Thank you very much to all who waited patiently for it to come out. I really hope that it was worth the wait (^.^")

“The assignment was to sketch something... what should I sketch?”

Kevin was pondering the subject of his sketch for the art class he needed to take for school. He tried the cliché bowl of fruit atop the counter, but it just didn't feel right. He went around the dorm sketching out scenery from the windows, their everyday mess, and his stuffed animals, but he still wasn't satisfied with the result.

Getting hungry from the hours of sketching, he crossed the hall into the kitchen for a late snack. It was already about 10 pm, and he just couldn't sleep. His unsatisfactory sketch kept bugging him. He really wanted it completed, but he just didn't know what do sketch. With a groan, he set his head down onto the table.

“Kevin-ah, are you okay?” said Kiseop.

Kiseop had been worried for the younger. Kevin was usually one of the first to go to sleep, but here he was in the kitchen with his head on the table. Kiseop saw Kevin's opened sketch book and assumed it was the reason why the boy wasn't asleep yet.

“Ne, I'm just frustrated with my homework...” answered Kevin.

“Wae?” asked Kiseop.

“I have to sketch something for my class tomorrow,” explained Kevin.

“Ah,” replied Kiseop.

Sitting down at the table across from Kevin, Kiseop took the sketch book and began flipping through the multiple pictures. Looking at them, the older could really see the time and effort that the younger had put into his sketching.

“You have plenty of sketches; why don't you just choose from one of them?” asked the older.

“Molla... I'm just not satisfied with any of them,” answered Kevin.

“Hmm... how about I help you?” Kiseop offered.

“Hyung, you can't do my homework for me!” Kevin exclaimed.

“Kevin, I'm not going to sketch something,” said Kiseop.

“Then how are you going to help me?” asked Kevin.

“I'll be your subject. Just sketch me,” Kiseop explained.

Kevin didn't know what to do. Sure, he'd done portraits for class before, but for some reason, this felt different. He wasn't sure if he could do it. He glanced at the time and then at the face of his hyung who was waiting for his response. Though he might not have been aware of it, Kiseop wore a slight pout on his face which Kevin couldn't help but find adorable.

“Arasso.”

After a bit of talking, they decided that Kiseop was going to look straight at Kevin for the sketch. Kevin started out by getting the shape of the head, and then he added a bit of Kiseop's neck into the picture. Kevin spent about 15 minutes on Kiseop's hair, and then he was ready to start on the man's actual features.

Wanting to get every single feature as accurate as possible, Kevin really stared and payed attention to the older's face. His strong jawline, his cheekbones, his eyes... Kevin just couldn't help but get distracted by taking such close attention to Kiseop's face. Looking straight into the older's eyes, Kevin felt as if he was drowning in a pool of warm chocolate.

“Kevin, gwenchana? You've been spacing out for about 5 minutes...” said Kiseop concerned.

“Mwo? Ah, ne. I'm alright, Hyung,” replied Kevin.

After finishing most of Kiseop's face, all Kevin had left to do was sketch Kiseop's lips. Just looking at them distracted Kevin again. He couldn't help but remember all the times that those soft lips pressed against him.

10 minutes having gone by with no movement of Kevin's pencil, Kiseop got up and went over to the side of the table that Kevin was on. By now he was really concerned. It wasn't normal for Kevin to just stay still and space out for long periods of time.

“Yah,” Kiseop said softly, his head resting on Kevin's “Are you sure you're okay?”

Kevin let out a small sigh. “Ne, it's just...I'm getting distracted...”

“Ah, chincha? Wae?” questioned Kiseop.

“Um... I'm just remembering all the times that we've kissed,” said Kevin with a blush.

The younger's statement along with his tone caused a light chuckle to escape the older's mouth and a light tint of pink to rush into his cheeks.

“Araso,” Kiseop replied. “Just hurry up so that we can go to sleep. We have a very early schedule tomorrow and you still have your classes to attend right afterward.”

Placing a light peck on Kevin's forehead, Kiseop went back to his original position. For about another 5 minutes, Kevin continued to sketch out Kiseop's lips, only getting slightly distracted at the sight. Having finished, Kevin closed his sketch book, stood up, stretched and left to go to bed.

“Goodnight Hyung. Gumawo for your help,” Kevin said while bowing.

“You're welcome,” Kiseop replied. “Go to sleep, I'll clean up here.”

“Arasso, saranghae~” said Kevin before leaving the room.

“Nado saranghae,” replied Kiseop.

After Kevin had left, Kiseop cleaned up the minimal mess the two had left in the kitchen. Finished with his cleaning, he noticed how Kevin had forgotten to take his sketch book and put it into his backpack.

Wanting to know the final outcome, Kiseop opened up to the page that contained Kevin's latest sketch and was completely blown away. Granted it did take almost a whole hour, but the picture just looked so life-like; it was as if the paper was reflecting his own face as a mirror does.

He had ever little detail down, and even the shading on the face was excellent as well. Looking at his eyes, Kiseop saw love and compassion, and in his smile was serenity and a bit of amusement. His cheeks looked as if there were a faint blush spread across them, and his hair looked as if he had just come straight from bed; which was true.

Putting the sketch book down, Kiseop made his way over to the room he was sharing with Kevin. Laying down onto the bed, Kiseop took one last look at Kevin's face, pecked the top of the younger's head, and fell asleep.

Waiting for a few minutes, Kevin slowly opened his eyes and faced his partner's sleeping face. He couldn't help but feel happy at the sight of the slight smile on the sleeping older's face.

“Gumawo, Hyung. I know you were just trying to help me, but I honestly couldn't help but get distracted. Even if I was distracted though, I still would rather you help me and distract me rather than me doing my assignments alone but focused without you. Saranghae.”

Snuggling into Kiseop's arms, Kevin fell asleep content and happy with the wonderful distraction that he loved.
