“Yunho oppa!”

“Hyung!”

“You came!”

Jung Yunho smiled broadly as he stepped inside the function room, holding two huge plastic bags that were filled to the brim. In a blink of an eye, the children were on their feet and running towards him; screams and shouting filling the air as they tried to outrun each other to get to Yunho first. Yunho laughed as a couple of children promptly hugged his legs, causing him to lift the plastic bags high above their heads so that neither of the children would get hurt.

“Kids, kids…” Kim Heechul shook his head as he stepped inside with Kwon Boa and Kim Hyoyeon in tow. “Let Yunho put his things down first before you attack him.”

“Yunho oppa, what’s that?” A six year old girl named Jaekyung asked, remaining attached to his leg.

“It’s a secret.” He winked secretively, putting down his things on the table once the children detached themselves from him. “But if you’ll be good today, I’ll show you.”

While Heechul and Hyoyeon busied themselves with getting the hyper and excited children to settle down and sit on the carpeted floor once more, Yunho fixed himself and his belongs; a smile never leaving his lips. Boa chuckled, shaking her head slightly as she made her way to he was. Gently elbowing him in the ribs to catch his attention, the petite woman helped him sort out his things.

“Those children always go crazy every time you’re here, you know.” She informed them casually.

“Really? It must be my devilishly good looks.” Yunho smirked proudly.

“Why are such a dork?” Her eyes rolled. “Seriously, though… You make those kids happy. You spend so much time and money here and I don’t think we can thank you enough.”

“I was one of them too, you know.” A melancholic smile crossed his face as he turned to watch the children. “I know how it feels like to be an orphan.”

Boa nodded in understanding, patting him on the back before allowing him to start his daily activity session with the children of the orphanage she had been in charge with. The way the kids’ faces lit up at the mere sight of Yunho brought a smile on her own face. She could only hope that they all grow beautifully and be like Yunho.

“Why are we missing two people?” A look of confusion crossed Yunho’s face as he did another silent headcount. “And how come no one told me that we’ve got three new angels with us?”

“Hyung! Hyung!” A young boy named Shim Dongwoon raised his hand up. “Both Kim In Ah noona and Dae Kwon have new ummas and appas!”

“Is that so?” Yunho looked at the three adults standing at the side for confirmation; Hyoyeon, Heechul and Boa all nodding simultaneously. “I’m going to miss them.”

“Oppa!” Another child, Kwon Minhee, raised her own little hand. “Don’t be sad. We’re all here for you.”

He beamed; his eyes falling on the three new faces in the sea of children. “How about we’ll do this; let’s get to know our three new friends. How does that sound?”

“Would you mind if I join?”

The addition of the new, unexpected voice nearly sent Yunho falling off his chair; all the heads in the room turning to look at the door where a tall, slender, model-looking young woman stood. She had a bright smile on her faces; boxes of donuts in her hands as she came inside. Hyoyeon and Heechul’s promptly dropped as they stared wide-eyed at a woman they hadn’t seen for the longest time; Boa sending a questioning look at the stunned looking Yunho. Yes, she was older now and she looked stunning… but her eyes and her smile were so unmistakable and hard to forget.

“Yunho oppa! Yunho oppa!” Jaekyung crawled over to him and tugged on his pant leg. “Who is she?”

“”Uh… I…” He swallowed the lump that suddenly formed in his throat; his eyes hesitantly meeting hers. “She’s a new noona, Jaekyung. Her name’s Choi Sooyoung. When she was a little girl, she was just like you and me too.”

“Ooh…” Realization crossed on everyone’s faces and Dongwoon beamed at Sooyoung. “You’re so pretty, noona!”

Sooyoung smiled back. “Thank you.”

“Oppa! Oppa!” Park Soojung joined Jaekyung by Yunho’s feet. “Can we get to know your friend too?”

“O-Of course…” He slowly nodded, sending a hesitant smile at the tall brunette. “Sooyoung-ssi, is it okay?”

She put the donuts down on the table and walked over. “What do I have to do?”

In a couple of minutes, the children, Yunho and Sooyoung were arranged in a circle on the floor; Heechul, Hyoyeon and Heechul observing from the side. He was so prepared with so many activities for the children and needless to say, he was thrown off his game with Sooyoung’s arrival. He hadn’t seen her ever since he was adopted at the late age of fourteen and he really didn’t know how he was going to act around her. But he did recognize that this question and answer portion could be a blessing in disguise. Heaven knew how many questions he wanted to ask her.

“Ask Sooyoung noona or Sooyoung unnie one question at a time, okay?” Yunho smiled slightly when all the children nodded obediently. “So what’s the first question?”

“Sooyoung noona, when’s your birthday?”

“February 10 1990.” Sooyoung replied. “So that makes me 22 years old.”

“Your birthday is so close to Yunho oppa!” Minhee squealed excitedly. “We can throw a birthday party for them! Is that okay, Sooyoung unnie?”

“I think that’s perfect.” She laughed.

Soojung raised her hand and everyone’s attention fell on her. “Unnie, do you find Yunho oppa handsome?”

The two adults exchanged a look; Heechul nearly spitting out the soda he was drinking, causing Boa to reach over and gently thud his back. “Well…” Sooyoung smiled shyly. “I think he’s very, very handsome.”

Yunho’s face heated as he blushed crimson. “Look!” The children shrieked happily. “His face is red?”

“Yah!” He groaned, covering his face with his hands. “Don’t you have any more questions to ask?”

“Sooyoung noona…” A timid looking boy named Ryu Kwangsoo spoke up. “Do you have a boyfriend?”

Yunho lifted his face from his hands and joined the children in waiting for her answer. “Do I have a boyfriend?” Sooyoung repeated the question, pausing for a while before she shook her head and grinned. “No, I don’t have one… I never had one. Why?”

The dark haired man grimaced, hoping the children wouldn’t use the opportunity to again when Kwangsoo answered the question. “Noona, can you wait until I grow up? I want to marry you.”

Sooyoung laughed at the honest, innocent confession and Yunho found himself scowling, straightening up when he caught the pointed look Boa shot him. Yunho sighed as more and more questions were thrown at Sooyoung, not knowing if he could ever get to ask his own. Reasoning that it wouldn’t be proper to ask them in front of the children, Yunho did his best to facilitate the session until Hyoyeon declared it was time for a break; the children dashing for the donuts that Sooyoung had brought.

Yunho had practically dashed for the playground at the back of the orphanage, sighing in relief when he found it surprisingly empty. It looked just like the way it did when he, himself, lived as an orphan in the shelter. Sure, everything was a newer version of what the orphanage had all those years ago but everything was still in the right place. Yunho ran a hand down his face; a small smile gracing his lips as he sat on one end of the seesaw; laughter soon bubbling out of his mouth as the other end rose up and he realized how dumb he must look.

“This is pretty much like the first time I ever spoke to you.”

He turned his attention away from the seesaw to find Sooyoung standing a few feet away from him; her arms crossed over her chest and a look of pure amusement on her face. His thoughts fleeted back to that day Sooyoung first arrived at the orphanage, looking so lost. The head had brought her to the playground to meet new friends… and that was when she saw Yunho on the seesaw on his own. “I guess you can say I haven’t changed.”

“Sure, you have.” Sooyoung answered. “But not enough for me to say that you aren’t the Jung Yunho I never forgot about.”

“Can I… Can I hug you?”

“I was beginning to think you didn’t miss me at all.”

Yunho smiled, climbing off the seesaw and ran towards her. Sooyoung laughed as he took her in his arms and twirled her around; his hold tightening on her as if he was afraid that she would just disappear. She placed her hands on his shoulders as he gently dropped her to the ground, smiling widely as she looked at his eyes. She could still see that young, passionate, leader-like boy that she lived with back then just as he could still see the loving, tomboyish, witty little girl that she once was.

“Do you still remember what we did after you saw me on the seesaw on my own?”

“You wanna seesaw right now?” Sooyoung asked incredulously. “You and me?”

He arched an eyebrow. “Anything wrong with that?”

The brunette simply rolled her eyes, taking his hand in hers and dragged him back to the seesaw. She waited until both of them were seated and actually moving up and down before she spoke again. “I’m surprised you didn’t ask any questions back inside.”

“Did you want me to?” He shot her a look.

Her shoulders lifted in a slight shrug. “Well, I want to ask you a question.”

“Go shoot.” He held onto the handle as he flew downward and she rose up.

“Have you ever confessed to a girl you liked?”

Yunhho kept silent as his side of the seesaw went back up. “Well, I did. I was really young back then and I gave the girl a flower I picked from the garden. She liked it actually and I told her I’d always give her flowers and she’d be the only girl I’ll give flowers to. But I don’t think she got it back then. She was pretty dense.”

A shocked gasp escaped Sooyoung’s lips. Yunho smirked. “I’m hoping that she’s not as dense as she used to be.”

“I hate you, oppa.”

“I love you too.”
