Tutorial 26: Soft Vintage/Angst Poster

1. Before proceeding with this tutorial, please install the fonts and brushes that are inside the poster kit.
2. Open a new blank, white canvas that is 400 X 500.
3. Open the following images as layers:
-winterlandscape.jpg
-birds.jpg
4. Rescale the winter landscape layer to 400 X 200. Rescale the birds layer to 400 X 400.
5. Move the birds to the top of the canvas and move the winter landscape to the bottom of the canvas.
6. Add an alpha channel to both layers. Then add a layer mask to both layers. Pick the Black (full transparency) option.
7. Click on the eraser tool and choose the brush called Circle Fuzzy (19). I made the size to be 250. I set the opacity to 75%. Now click on the black layer mask that is beside the winter landscape layer and begin erasing the bottom of the canvas. Be sure to use a back and forth sweeping motion while erasing until you see the winter landscape start to appear. Don't over erase!
8. Using the same eraser brush and settings, click on the layer mask that is beside the birds layer. Use the same back and forth sweeping motion while you are erasing the birds. Remember, don't over erase! Hopefully, by this point, the two pictures will be well blended together.
9. Now flatten the image so it all becomes the background.
10. Open up the ulzzang.png image as a new image.
11. Add a transparent layer above her layer. Click on the brush tool and locate brush E
