Suddenly Blind

Description

I'm a normal girl too, I swear. I'm just a female idol is all... who's blind.... But I'm normal, right? Wait... am I?

Foreword

I woke up, just like any other normal day. I glanced outside the window, noticing the gray skies, and the darker clouds that looked so defined, and unreal.

I snuck out of the room and started getting ready for 'work'. I took a shower and got changed into some clothes. I did my hair, and grabbed something quick to eat as I slung my bag over my back and left the dorm, starting the 15 minute walk to work.

I had such a messed up schedule. It was totally opposite from all of my unnies. I had my own tutor, and I worked at night. I'd get up at 3, and be at work by 4:30. Then I would go home at 3 in the morning.

I walked down the street, looking at the cars next to the sidewalk, noticing every detail, and every flaw of anything and everything I saw as I walked.

I took a left, and walked down the busy street. I took a right, down a short alley, and crossed the street. I walked for another couple of minutes before I slowly stopped infront of the door of SM Entertainment. I walked into the building and scanned my ID, and checked in at the desk before heading upstairs.

I'm Chan Mi, the maknae of SM's newest girl group, 3oVh.

The day was the same routine, I recorded some vocals for what was hopefully going to be our new hit, it was a really slow and eerie ballad about a girl who was abandoned y the guy she loved (and secretly ends up killing herself).

Then I did a photoshoot with Elle Girl, and a popular overs seas magazine called Teen Vogue. I've never heard of it though...

After that, I had about an hour of tutoring, and then I would practice choreography and exercise. I needed to lose more weight before I could be considered a real model in Korea, they were all so... thin. I felt like an elephant compared to them....

After a while, I went to the locker room to go shower and dry up. I changed back into my normal clothes and headed to the lobby to wait for a friend of mine to give me a ride home. They insisted that they give me a ride every morning, because they didn't want me walking home at this time of the day.

I waited in the lobby.

They were ten minutes late.

Ten minutes less of sleep.

Oh well.

They finally showed up, walking through the doors that went into the recording booth. No wonder why, they were doing vocals.

"Channie-ah~" he cooed.

"Yah, I told you not to call me that..."

We walked across the lobby side by side.

"Why don't you call me oppa?"

We walked out the door and into the parking lot.

"Because I'm the same age as you, pabo."

We walked down the aisle of parked cars.

"You're still younger than me." he replied.

"Yeah, only by 5 months."

We opened the car doors and buckled our seat belts as we sat down.

"I'm still older than you..." he grumbled.

"Yeah, whatever helps you sleep at night Tae..." I patted his knee assuringly.

We pulled out of the dull, gray concrete parking lot and looked at the busy still-dark streets.

We worked at such odd times. It's almost 4 and we're awake...

Taemin pulled out of the lot and started driving down the street, and onto the main road.

I heard the distinct 'bleep' of the signal as he switched lanes to get to the dorms.

He was about to take the the turn onto our street when all of a sudden you hear this metal crunch, and everything was a big blur, I heard a high-pitched screech, and smelt something burning, and I got all light-feeling, you know, like you do when you're on a really fast rollercoaster and you're going on a hill. I heard a clattering shatter and I felt my head being pushed back against the headrest.

Everything seemed to go really slow, like in those really important parts of life, like winning a marathon, or experiencing death for the last and final time- I don't know. Everything kind of started to fade out as I heard dull "ba-bump, ba-bump, bump' and the blocked out sound of someone screaming, screaming something, yelling, shouting. I heard something before I out completely, it sounded almost like a siren....

I woke up.

I didn't know where I was, it was black almost... Or, I don't know.... I couldn't see, I couldn't see anything.

I opened my eyes again, I even tried holding a hand up to my face, but my arm was restrained, and it felt immediately weak, like when you trying pulling at the IV in the....

Hospital.

Hospital.

I'm in a hospital- hopefully...

And I can't see.

I heard something rustle somewhere... it sounded like it was somewhere inbetween 200 and 240 degrees infront of me, a couple of meters away.

"W-where am I?" I croaked. How long had I been out? My voice sounded like cra-

"Y-y-you're awake..."

I heard someone run across the room, their shoes squeaking on the floor, and wrap their arms around my neck and sob softly.

Was that-

"T-taemin?"

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry..." he kept muttering.

I don't know why though.

I felt a drop of water on my neck, a tear.

"Why are you crying Minnie? Are the lights off?"

"N-no," he choked, "They're on. I'm so sorry Channie, I'm sorry... It's all my fault, I'm so sorry...." he took a shaky breath after letting out another sob.

I held out my opposite arm, the one that wasn't stabbed with a billion needles.

I gently touched what I felt near me, the linen sheet, what felt like one of my own tee shirts, and Taemin's waist, covered in what felt like one of those old knitted grandpa sweaters he wore with skinny jeans. I ran my hand up his figure, trying to find an arm, then a shoulder, the a neck, and then his head. I the back of his hair, wondering why he wouldn't stop apologizing.

Wait, the lights.

He said they were on.

I felt up to my face, I felt my eyelids, and a clear face.

I started shaking.

This couldn't be.

No. No, no no no.

"T-t-taemin, why can't I see?"

I felt tears gather up on the brim of my waterline.

"Channie... y-you're blind."
