Foreword
The sun has long risen from the horizon but here she still is – snoozing amidst the chaos on her bed.
Gingerly, I sat on her side of the bed and with shaking hands, I touched her smooth cheek.
She opened her eyes. Alert yet afraid.
“Good morning,” I whispered with a smile.
Amber sat up as she rubbed her eyes. Then with a longing look at me, she sniffed.
“Amber…” I started but stopped as she slumped back on the bed with an arm across her eyes.
Once again, I felt helpless as I stared at her; her shoulders shaking as tears greet her cheeks a wonderful morning.
