His heart's caretaker

Wu Jian Yu, Kris Wu's five year old son, tugged on the length of his father's pants. Kris looked down at his son's glum face and titled his head to the side as if questioning what was wrong.

"What's wrong, Jian Yu?" Kris asked, bending down to reach his son's height. Jian Yu pouted and snuck a glance at Chun Hua, his nanny and caretaker.

"How come I don't have a mother like everyone else in school? Why was it only me, you and the servants in the house before Chun Hua jiejie came? The other kids at school asked if Chun Hua jiejie was my mother, and I answered them with a no and told them that I didn't have a mother. Why is that, daddy? Why is our family so different from everyone else's?" Jian Yu rambled on, not meeting his eyes with his father. He kept his gaze on the front door of the house, staring at it intensely as if his stare alone would have the power to bring back his mother.

Kris sighed, running a hand through his sandy locks before looking into his son's eyes. "Your mother and I don't love each other anymore." Kris explained slowly and carefully as he went straight to the point. He didn't want to explain the complications of his realtionship with his ex-wife and the split. It would be too much for a five year old to grasp the idea.

"Does that mean that mommy doesn't love me anymore either? She left me." Jian Yu's eyes watered and his bottom lip trembled at the thought. For comfort, Kris wrapped his arms around his son tightly, assuring him that his mother loved him very much.

Jian Yu pulled, brushing away his tears with the sleeve of his sweater. "Are you sure? You can't be lying to me, daddy. If I find out that she doesn't, I'll be very mad at you." he pouted and stomped on his foot. Kris chuckled at his son's mini tantrum and pat his head. "I'm not, Jian Yu. Believe your daddy. I'm not." Kris assured.

As Chun Hua passed by carrying Jian Yu's mess from his art project, Jian Yu looked at his father with a small glint in his eyes.

"Hey, daddy." Jian Yu called Kris. Kris glanced down and saw the mischeiovus glint in his eyes that reminded him of his ex-wife. I wonder if she's doing okay without me. Has she replaced me yet? The thoughts of his ex-wife were giving him a headache.

"Daddy!" Jian Yu exclaimed, kicking his father hard on the shin. "Aiyah! What was that for?!" Kris scolded. "You weren't listening to me." Jian Yu mumbled, creating little circles with his foot on the carpet. "What were you saying?" Kris turned his attention away from Jian Yu to turn to the computer screen in front of him.

Jian Yu took a deep breathe and then breathed out. "I was wondering if Chun Hua jiejie can be my mother."
