I can hear the vibrations of the rain soundly hitting the dimly lit road, never stopping, one drop after another, in a steady rhythm like a heartbeat. The fan squeaks. The dogs outside bark. The door creaks back and forth, a metronome of another kind. I lay my head down, ready and aware of contact. I close my eyes, and try not to think of anything, but it hits me like a wave and made of sand, I begin to fade. Whether I fade into absolute darkness or absolute light, I’m not quite sure, but this is a dream I know far too well.

Forward/Description

    My name is Kim Soo Ae. Geek. Nerd. Socially Incapable. Sounds about right. Heck, Google earth probably couldn’t even find me.

But in front of the cameras, in the face of the public, I am MASQA. I’m a singer to put it simply, but you see I’m not quite like the average idol or solo artist, because I wear a mask on stage. A masquerade mask, hence the name MASQA.

No one except my boss (Gary and Gil of Leessang), and the agency members, have ever seen my true face. Not even the other idols, or even my dearest fans, and in vice versa, my classmates in school have never discovered my alter ego, so you could say that I lead a “double” life.

I get to live out my dream without compromising my privacy, my personal life, and my last year of high school to the crazy saesaeng fans, so I think I’m pretty goddamn lucky.

I was convinced that I was truly living in the best of both worlds until someone came along and knocked me down from paradise. This is how it began
