I’m Fukuyama Rein, I am currently on my 3^rd year in high school. I really don’t care about love issues until I met him, the guy who made me fall in love – Inoo Kei.

It all started last year, during my 2^nd year in high school when we had a youth camp and all the students were required to attend the said youth camp. My best friend Tina-chan was the class president of our class and they were assigned to be the facilitator of the said youth camp. As we arrived there, we went on our designated rooms, Tina-chan’s room was different from mine, since she was with the other class presidents. As I unpacked my things, I left our room and check up on Tina-chan who was at their room and is not feeling well, as I reached the door of their room, the other door next to it opened and a tall and slim guy approached me asking me what’s the matter. That is the first time that I saw him, the apple of my eye, Inoo Kei. He immediately went towards me and asked what’s wrong, me on the other hand told him that I was just looking for my best friend Tina-chan, I thought that when he heard the reason why I was there he would leave me alone, but I was wrong because he helped me looked up to my best friend, he opened the door and called for Tina-chan’s name but it seems that she wasn’t there.

“it seems that she’s wasn’t here” he told me,

“uhn” I nodded and by that, he bowed at me and left.

After that, I can’t help myself from glancing at him whenever I had a chance to do so. Maybe I was carried away by him, being a gentleman at me, he was the first guy who helped me because most of the time, the guys around me don’t help me because I’m a bit boyish so they think that I can do things on my own, you see, even a boyish girl like me likes to be treated like a real girl. But Inoo-kun was different from them, he didn’t  judge me on my outer appearance, though I wear boyish clothes, he still became a gentleman at me and that’s what I liked about him.

After that youth camp, I can see him around the school most of the times, he was such a busy person since he’s the class president and he was also a student assistant. At first, I thought that what I’m feeling was just a simple crush and it will soon fade away, but I was wrong because one day I saw him and I felt that my heart skip a beat and it was confirmed, I’M IN LOVE WITH INOO KEI.

As soon as I felt that, I immediately told that to Tina-chan, since that’s the first thing that a girl would do if they already have a feelings for someone, let your best friend know about it and flail in front of her…hahaha :D

As soon as Tina-chan heard about it, she was so happy because finally, her best friend was in love… and she said that she will help me to get close with Inoo-kun since they both knew each other, as I heard that, I felt nervous because I don’t know what will I do when he’s in front of me. Days had passed and I’m contented by just staring at Inoo-kun from the distance and telling this to Tina-chan, if I was contented that way, Tina-chan wasn’t. So one day, she gave me a number and my heart skip a beat when she added that the number she handed me was Inoo-kun’s cell phone number.

“eh…? And what would I do with his number…?!” I asked Tina-chan in wide eyes.

 “text him…! You baka…!” exclaimed Tina-chan while shaking my shoulders

“I think I can’t do that…” I said sadly while looking down on my feet

“eh…?!!! Nande…???!!!” she exclaimed

“I don’t know what to say…” I uttered

“BAKA…! Now is your chance to get close to him so don’t waste the opportunity, ok…?” she said

Days and weeks had passed but I’m still not texting Inoo-kun’s number, of course I’m shy and I don’t know what to tell him and that’s what stopping me from texting him until one day, I’ve got all the courage that I needed to text him…

“hi..! I’m Fukuyama Rein, Higuchi Tina’s friend..how are you Inoo-kun…?:)” I finally managed to type at the screen of my phone…I think twice, thrice, or maybe a hundred times if I should press the send button on my phone and finally, I pressed the “send” button and I nervously waited for his reply…

“yeah, I know you by the face since I always saw you together with Tina-chan, so you’re Fukuyama-chan…did Tina-chan gave you my number…?” he replied after a minute

As I read his reply, my heart was beating very fast…so fast that it might come out of my chest…so he’s noticing me all the while…kyaaaaa~

“yeah, you’re right…Tina-chan did gave me your number…haha :D” I replied back

And there started our conversation...I was wrong when I thought that we would not going to have any topics that we could talk about because honestly, we talked almost about anything and everything under the sun…oh, and I also learned that he is also an otaku like me…since he likes reading mangas and watching animes, in fact he has a collection of mangas at his room…and that makes me fall in love to him even more…when we were seeing each other at the school, we would just simply say “hi” and “hello” at each other like any normal friends would do…whenever I see him, I think I’m going to have a heart attack because he is just so handsome and kind…but I guess he is the type of person who doesn’t mind his love life or his love life is his less priority since he was the president of their class plus, he is a student assistant…but I guess I’m contented being friends with him…at least he knew that I exist right…?haha :D

“so how’s it going between you and Kei-kun…?” asked Tina-chan to me one time

“eh…?” that’s what I just uttered upon hearing what Tina-chan asked me

“I am asking if how’s it going between you and Kei-kun…?any improvements…?” she asked eagerly

“well,erm…between me and Inoo-kun…I guess were still at the stage of being friends and getting-to-kno-each-other…”I uttered

“eh…?!!! Naniiiiiii…?!!! You’ve been texting him for almost a month and you’ve been seeing here at school but there is still no improvements…?! Man, Rein-chan why are you so slow…?!” she pouted in crossed arms

“demo…I don’t have a chance on him…I mean, I think he is the type of guy who is less priority was his love life…” I uttered sadly

“and what makes you think that way…?” she asked, left eyebrow raised

“I just felt it…we’re just friends…nothing more, nothing less…”I uttered

“but you like him right…?” she asked me

“yeah…of course I do…” I replied immediately

“and you want to become closer at him…?” she added

“yeah…” I uttered

“then just wait…” she said with a grin on her face as if she was up to something no good

Many months had passed and my birthday was approaching…it’s my 18^th birthday and 18^th birthdays were the awaited birthday of all the girls since it’s their debut…

“ne Rein-chan…” Tina-chan said as she taps my shoulder

“nande…?” I asked while turning around to look at her

“your birthday is near right…?and it is your 18^th birthday…so what do you want as a gift…?” she asked excitedly

“gift you say…?hmmm…Inoo-kun…! I want him as my gift…”I jokingly told Tina-chan

“hahaha…don’t worry Rein-chan, I’ll give you Kei-kun…” laughed Tina-chan

“ok,ok…that’s a promise…” I laughed, this is how we talked to each other…we always done it as a joke and that what’s makes us laughing so hard…

And so, the day of my birthday arrived, since it dropped on school days, I celebrated it at school together with my friends…I was so happy since I’ve got to celebrate it together with them and all of them gave me presents…the day was about to end and I thought that my 18^th birthday would be ordinary just like my previous birthdays until Tina-chan texted me to meet her at the rooftop of our school…I immediately went at the rooftop, I was hurrying up since it was dark already and I wanna go home…as I reached the rooftop, I opened the door and I was surprised to what I’ve seen there – rose petals were scattered on the floor, in the middle of the rooftop was a table with candlelight and meals on top of it…the whole rooftop was full of sparkling lights that compliment with the darkness of the night…it’s as if the whole rooftop was full of twinkling stars…I gazed around thinking that I would find Tina-chan there, but to my dismay she was not there…

“now where is Tina-chan…?” I pouted in crossed arms

“she’s not here…but I am…” I turned around as I heard someone talk

“Inoo-kun…?!” I said in surprise

“otanjoubi omedetto Fukuyama-chan…!” he greeted me with a smile on his face, oh my gosh..!i think I’m gonna melt as I saw the smile on his face…!

“a…arigatou Inoo-kun…demo, how’d you know that today is my birthday…?” I asked shyly, avoiding eye contact with him or else I’ll gonna flail if that happened

“well…”I interrupted Inoo-kun to what he was about to say

“did Tina-chan told you about it…?” I asked

“well, erm…kinda…” he chuckled

“TINA-CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN…!” I thought while remembering what I told her jokingly the other day about Inoo-kun being my gift…I never thought that she would take that seriously…

“Fukuyama-chan, daijoubu…?” he snapped his fingers in front of me as he noticed that I was spacing out

“oh…erm…yeah…gomen ne Inoo-kun…I know that you still have many things to do but Tina-chan still bothered you just for this…hontou ni gomen…” I bowed at him

“why are you apologizing…?” he said

“eh…?” I uttered while lifting my head up and facing him

“you don’t have to apologize because I’m happy that I’m here with you now…” he said

“what are you talking about Inoo-kun…?” I asked confused

“well, how am I going to say it…well first, Tina-chan didn’t told me that today was your birthday…I knew it since before…then, I’m happy that I could celebrate with you your birthday…”he said while he was walking towards me then the next thing I knew is that he was putting a necklace on my neck…

“that’s my present for you…it looks beautiful on you…I hope you like it…” he said shyly

“Inoo-kun, arigatou…” I said while holding the necklace with a heart pendant on it

“remember the day that you texted me…?I was very happy that day…” he said

“oh yeah, I remembered that day…” I said then I suddenly blushed upon reminiscing that day

“you know why I’m very happy that time…?it’s because the girl that I loved texted me…
 he said

“eh…?what did you say Inoo-kun…?” I asked, I knew I heard the word “love” but to make it sure I let him repeat what he said again

“how am I going to tell you this…?I love you Fukuyama-chan, I’ve been noticing you since before we had our youth camp and I was happy when I had a chance to get to talk to you when I helped you looked for Tina-chan  at their room even for just a short time…when Tina-chan gave me your number, I was so happy and nervous at the same time because I don’t know how to approach you…it took me days and weeks to texted you but I think I am really such a coward because I didn’t texted you first…when I received your text, my world slowdowns...I was really happy that time and became more happy when we started to get close to each other little by little…that is really what I feel for you Fukuyama-chan…I really, really loved you from the start…man, gomen for the lame confession…to tell you honestly, this is my first time in confessing…” he said shyly while scratching the back of his head

upon hearing those words, I was surprised to felt teardrops running down my cheeks…I tried to stop them from falling but they keep on coming out of my eyes…

“Fukuyama-chan, daijoubu…?” he said worriedly as he immediately went near me and hold my shoulders

“yeah, I’m fine…it’s just that this is how it feels when you learn that the one you love also loves you…” I said while he was wiping away the tears from my eyes…

“you mean…” he uttered

“yeah, I’ve liked you since the day that you helped me while we are at the youth camp…since then, I can’t stop glancing at you…and then the time comes when I realized that I’ve fallen for you…I love you Inoo-kun…” I finally managed to tell him how I feel and by that, I felt his arms around me as he gave me a tight hug…so tight I could hear his heart beating and the smell of his perfume lingers on my nostrils…I wish we would be like this forever …

“Rein-chan…aieru…” he said

“aieru Kei-kun…”I replied, and with that, I felt his lips touches mine

So this is how it feels when the one you love also loves you back…I always thought that it could only just happened on fairy tales or on fictional books, but it could really happened in real life…and it’s just amazing…it’s simply amazing…
