SempiternalHello, lovely readers!
Many of you must be wondering, "Why Cambodia?" Well, for those who don't read my other stories, you may not know that I recently went on a trip to Cambodia. More like a one-man mission trip. My family is close with a missionary there, so I stayed at his home as I followed him and his sons to a couple orphanages. I mainly took pictures of the kids I met there, who were so sweet and kind to me (:
I edited only a few pictures and post them on my tumblr, so here are the links if you're interested:

The picture of the beach is indeed Sihanoukville, but the hotel I was referring to was Sokha Hotel. Sokha Group is one of the biggest groups, and the hotel (from what i heard) is like $300-$400 a night, which is REALLY expensive for anybody anywhere, and especially Cambodians. Phnom Penh, where Luhan and Kai first arrived, is the capitol, and also where I stayed at. Tuk-tuks are (http://ingridcambodia.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/tuk_tuk-dsc04063-b1.jpg) are very very commonly used. I rode them often on my stay there, and I did have a really hard time keeping my eyes open because of the dust. A lot of people wear masks (many motocyclists as well) because of the dust. Also, a lot of people ride motorcycles.
It's also very common for Cambodians to drive into incoming traffic to get in front of a slow car. On my way down to Sihanoukville, there were only two "lanes," which is why Luhan is so distressed after the long ride. And it is very hot country. I think it was around high-80s and low-90s (in Fahrenheit) the whole time I was there. it's hot all year round with a monsoon season. But, like any country with darker-skinned people, they prefer lighter skinned people, which is why Luhan was being stared at. I'm not necessarily pale compared to other Koreans, but to Cambodia I was fascinating. I found people staring at me very often.
Cambodia is a very poor country. Just one look at the people, and it'll be obvious that many are malnutritioned. The young adults in Phnom Penh are very small in stature. The kids are smaller than average, so they don't grow to be as tall or large as people in, say America. What really touched my heart was that the kids in the orphanages were happy, and I learned a lot from that. They don't need Macbooks or the lates iPhones or a large plate of steak to be happy. They just need each other and love, and I think everyone can learn a lesson from them. I rarely heard a child cry, even when they fell or hurt themselves. They would just pull themselves back up and be on their way. They know they don't have an over-doting parent who will rush to their sides to blow on their wounds, but like I said before, they have each other. The older kids are like the younger kids' parents. They are so caring and are always looking out for one another.
Anyways, all in all this story was my account of my experience in Cambodia. I'm never as satisfied as I wish I would be after I complete a story. (Maybe I should just stick to studying.....)
Thank you so much for reading and loving Lukai, Kailu, whatever... :D
