FEARLESS.

Description

Sment Academy is no ordinary school.

It’s haunted.

But at this school, the vengeful spirit only targets female students – meaning that Kim Jonghyun, the only person in the school stupid enough to want to see the spirit at its worst, can’t. Well, that is until he finds himself the perfect the bait. Enter Lee Minjung, a girl who suffered trauma to her temporal lobe that resulted in her never fearing anything.

Ever.

Now Jonghyun, along with the rest of his friends as well as Minjung's friends will hopefully end up seeing the ghost with own eyes to prove if there really is one.

Well, that is...

...if the ghost herself doesn't kill them.

Foreword

NOTE: Will become rated later on. Not now seeing as...well, nothing 'rate-worthy' has occured.

The LEGEND.

“There is nothing to fear than fear herself.”

(Night 0)

What I'm about to tell you is a true story...These events happened a long time ago, but they've haunted me ever since.

I used to live next door to a girl named Hei, who fell in love with a guy named Park. They were like no other couple I'd ever seen. They fit together so well, their love was so…pure, I guess.

They grew up, got married, had three children, and lived in what I would call one of the largest homes I’ve ever seen. Hell, it could have been a high school if they wanted it to be! And it later did become one, but I’m getting ahead of myself.

So, one of their children, Soo, was exceptionally bright and precious. She would question all sorts of things, and get into all sorts of sticky situations.

One time, Hei found her daughter stuck in the pantry. The pantry door had child safe locks, and it clicked closed while Soo stood inside the pantry, looking for something she could swear was inside.

"Mommy," Soo asked, "Can you help me find this little girl's lost her doll? She told me she left it in our pantry."

"A doll?" Hei said. "What are you talking about honey?"

As time passed, Soo became more and more strange.

"Mommy, do you hear that crying?" she would say, even though the room was completely silent.

Or...

"Mommy, do you smell that smoke? It's hurting my nose." Hei's back would be turned whenever her daughter spoke. The sound of her voice always made Hei jump.

Hei didn't know what to do. She wanted her daughter to have an active imagination, but also didn't want her to lose touch with reality.

She would answer back, "No, I don't hear that crying." Or, "No, I don't smell that smoke. Why don't you go and find your brother to play with?"

Then, she would dream about the things her daughter told her. She would hear the baby crying and smell the smoke. She would see her daughter in the dreams,  burned to crisp.

She would wake up in a cold sweat.

One night, Hei woke up and had a horrible feeling in her stomach. She ran to Soo's room. Soo wasn't there, she wasn't in her bed, either. There was a burnt corpse on the mattress instead.

She screamed.

Her husband ran into the room, wondering what was going on.

"Where is Soo?" she said, "Where?"

Her husband couldn't believe this was happening again. He hated having to explain it to her over and over. "Soo is no longer with us," he said, "You know that." He tried to touch her arm.

She turned quickly from him. "What are you talking about?" she demanded.

"Every year, on her birthday, you do this." He explained. "She was accidentally locked in the pantry, playing hide and seek or something, and you couldn't find her as the fire started. She would have been 10 years old today."

Hei burst out crying, and buried her head in her arms. Her husband left the room, because he couldn't stand it.

"Mommy, why are you crying?" Soo said, as she reached out to touch Hei . "It's okay..."

Shortly after that day, Hei killed herself. Her husband then sold off the house, and with his remaining children, left Seoul. The house was turned into a school a few years later.

And each year, on Soo’s birthday, Hei would visit class 3-A, or rather, Soo’s room….

…but this time, when she went in Soo’s room….

….she’d always find her daughter, and when she does she never lets her go.

PRESENT DAY.

SMENT ACADEMY.

.

.

He regarded the classroom once more. It was abandoned, and the signs that it was clearly shown from the dust gathering all over the desks—hell, it covered the entire room. Sunlight streamed through the blinds.

"Ghooossstty," Jonghyun wailed. "Come out, come out where ever you are!"

No response.

He pouted. "I HAVE YOUR DAUGHTER." He waited, hoping for a cold chill to pass, or at least the desk he was sitting on to magically shift.

But nothing happened. He pouted some more. "YOU IST GHOST!"

“Seriously, Jonghyun?” Came a voice. “That’s really pathetic.”

Jonghyun whipped his head eagerly around, hoping to come face-to-face with the dead spirit, but only saw Minho.

“BOO. I DON’T WANT TO SEE YOU.” He cried. “I see too much of you anyway, Minho.”

“You’re such an idiot,” Minho muttered.

“It’s not fair,” Jonghyun said, ignoring the jab. “I mean, why the hell do I have be female to see the damn ghost?”

Minho sighed. “Look, what if I told you I managed to get a girl at this school to pose as bait for this ghost you’re so bent on seeing?”

“You’re kidding, right?”

Minho snorted. “Does it look like I’m kidding?”

Jonghyun regarded his friend. Then said, “Jesus, are you serious? What girl is crazy enough to do it? I mean all the girls at this school are like, 'I don’t want to die! Are you stupid? Eeek!'”

“Well, I don’t know her personally, but I think she’s perfect for the job.” Minho said.

“Why?”

“She’s can’t feel fear. Some crazy accident that affected her brain prevents her from feeling it.”

“You’re ing ting me.”

.

.

.

“You’ve never heard of the legend of this school?”

Minjung shrugged. She’d heard there had been a legend, she’s just never actually heard of the legend itself.

"Dude, how can something like that not make an impact?" Jinkyong, or rather, ‘Kyong’ as everyone calls her, said, chuckling and shaking her head. "The story goes that this woman lost her daughter to this whack fire, and like, didn’t even realize it. So whenever it’s her birthday, she’d go crazy and looks for her, only to find out that her daughter’s dead. So then, she goes commits suicide, her husband sells the place, it's turned into a school."

"So now, she haunts class 3-A, the room that used to be her daughter's, kidnapping idiot girls in that room, and like, boom…they’re gone. No one knows where they go, the just…disappear.”

“But that's not all,” Hibari interrupted, shivering, and then grinning mischievously. “It’s actually true. See on the news how girls are randomly disappearing a year ago? Yeah, well they’re all from our school.”

Minjung tilted her head. “So, you have to look like her daughter to be taken?” she asked.

"Well, they were the targets," Hibari admitted, "but they say she if she’s desperate enough, she’ll take any girl.

"Just think," Kyong offered, lowering her voice conspiratorially. "The girls who disappeared—we kind of knew them. They were friends of friends. Heck, they could have been us!" She shivered, a nervous grin lighting her features.

Minjung blinked at them. “But we’re not in class 3-A, as it’s now vacant…and Hibari’s a boy…so it can’t be us.” Her expression was quizzical.

"Well, yeah," Kyong shot back, her lips twitching in merriment. “Which brings us to why I called you over…I hear that Jonghyun from class 7-B wants to prove that there’s actually a ghost doing it. But no one wants to be bait…but I kind of told his friend, you know Choi Minho? Well, I told him you’d do it!”

Hibari grinned. "Min, you should totally do it! If you’re in, I am so in.”

"Well, yeah, she should," Kyong shot back. "What do you say, Min? Maybe we'll freak you out after all!"

Minjung allowed the corner of to curl into a smile. She'd go, of course. It would be enjoyable. "Not a chance, Kyong," she said mildly. "I'm not afraid."

Of anything.
