Foreword
Kyungsoo’s POV.
"Be sure to send the kids lots of kisses from me!" My mom said as I said my final goodbye to her. I grinned,
"Of course, mom" She wiped a tear that was rolling down her cheek and smiled as she cupped my face.
"I'm going to miss you so much, Kyungsoo-ah!" She then started sobbing and I held her, rubbing comforting circles on her back as I secretly checked the time. Late again. I hated it when my mother was always this sentimental, I’ll be back before she knows it anyway...besides, it made me feel guilty, leaving her all alone with my good for nothing father. I sighed, shrugging off the feeling as I pulled away, her dampening cheeks drowning in snot and tears.
"Calm down, ma," I comforted, "I'll be back soon," I smiled warmly as she did the same and handed me my bags.
"You'll be late..."She patted my shoulder, “you should go"
"I know" I smiled. "Then I'll be going now...okay?" I looked into her eyes as she took a breath and smiled at me, her eyes looking watery and damp.
"Okay...like I said, call when you can, and give a kiss to each of the boys!" She pointed an accusing finger at me as I laughed. "I'll call each one to know if you did so!" My eyes widened and I chuckled nervously as she pinched my cheeks, leaving a mark.
~~
"Goodbye, Kyungsoo! I'll miss you!" she waved goodbye at me as I got into JoonMyeon’s car. Inside it sat a very tight looking Sehun as JongIn sat next to him, leaving space for a very happy and grinning Chanyeol and Baekhyun, hands on his face, blushing like crazy, sitting on Chanyeol's lap. The boys waved goodbye to my mother as I sat next to JoonMyeon in the passenger seat, rolling up the window and seeing as my mom wiped a tear from her face, smiling at me.
"You ok?" JoonMyeon asked. I nodded in response. JoonMyeon shrugged and started the car and left my house, driving towards the train station.
Along the way, we passed markets and neon lights that shined on our faces, sniffing the intoxicating smell of Seoul, the air on our faces as we listened to the radio. Baekhyun was still on Chanyeol’s lap, but had started getting comfortable and less irritated as Chanyeol just sang along the radio and JongIn slept while Sehun listened to his iPod.
"Are we there yet?" Chanyeol asked, anxious. JoonMyeon arranged the mirror to look at him directly through it and started.
"Nope," He sighed, "3 more hours until we get there." Chanyeol groaned.
"Well, is there anyway we can—‘’
"Do you have the key?" JongIn barged in, sighing tiredly while laying his cheek on his hand.
"What do you mean 'do I have it'? Of course I do, it's around my neck, see?" He showed him the key as JongIn went 'ohhh' and kept sleeping on Sehun's shoulder. The key JoonMyeon had around his neck was a sacred key that only people like us could recognize. It seemed like a normal key. Platinum colored, dirt marks covering it and looking like it could fit on any lock...except it couldn't. This key was only used among Alphas, beings with extraordinary 'powers', per se. The key was used to open a secret chamber that sent these 'Alphas' to a secret academy in Beijing called Bùréndào, where they sent these inhuman pedestrians to master their abilities and then use these abilities to keep the world spinning like it should. To get to this academy, we needed to travel to a train station and take a train to China. After we get to our destination, we use an ancient map that leads us to a door, and that's where we use the key.
"Hey, guys," JoonMyeon looked at each one of us, "call me Suho from now on, my parents could find out I'm there by just tracking down my name," Suho was an only child. He grew up with me and depended on me as a brother. His parents also treated him like perfection. The best schools were always the best choice for him because he was unlike any other child. He had an extraordinary love for science and nature, where his parents refused to help by granting his wish of studying scientific things. He also loved his pet fishes because he shared the same love of them: Water. This didn't go unnoticed by his parents.
The child they recognized as perfect was now a menace among other children, who he constantly squirted water at out of nowhere. As soon as he began growing, the whole water thing had passed and JoonMyeon was normal until he reached the age of sixteen after he went to the beach with me. The boy made a swift move of his hands and made the ocean go on rampage. JoonMyeon then knew he wasn't normal...what his parents feared...and when they told him all about his ancestors and strange DNA, he claimed to go to the academy where his great grandfather attended but of course…they said no. They wanted their perfect son to be normal and not some water bending freak that could easily get killed by much more skilled Alphas. He was furious and decided he could train himself until he was the proper age of 20. Me and him stuck together until I decided to tell him that I'm one of his kind and that I'll gladly accompany him to the academy so he wouldn't go alone.
Then we met the other 4, they came from different parts of Korea and told us that to get into the academy, we needed to become a group of six and since they were in need to two…we gladly accepted. We got to know each other and now we're in this position. Traveling to Bùréndào together and breaking JoonMyeon’s mom's rules (since he escaped) and being fully aware of what we were getting into.
"Alright...Suho" Suho smiled angelically to Sehun and nodded in response, "Chanyeol, good news"
"Are we stopping for food? I'm hungry!" He buried his face into Baekhyun's back as Baek widened his eyes in response and flushed to a deep crimson red. I rolled my eyes at the two oblivious best friends and kept hearing on the conversation.
"You can eat on the train," Chanyeol huffed and pouted, ‘’but we're gonna make a quick stop to take a break and you can finally stretch your limbs well," Chanyeol grinned over the mirror, making his left eye twitch.
"Yes!" He exclaimed happily, "you hear that Baek?" Baekhyun just buries his face in his seat and nodded his head in response. Baekhyun was put on Chanyeol's lap so the other two were comfortable and they wouldn't feel cramped up together. Baekhyun was shorter than Chanyeol, which made him a teeny bit heavier than him and it obviously made Chanyeol's legs uncomfortable but there seemed to be no problem on the younger's reddening face when he was offered. After about an hour of driving, we stopped for a break and got out of the car, JongIn sounding annoyed when we told him to wake up.
"JongIn-ah!" I violently shook him as he groaned in displeasure.
"Yah!" He managed to squeak out.
"If I were you, I would pour water on him," Sehun barged in, raising a brow.
"Not a bad idea," Suho crossed his arms and soon after uncapped his water bottle. This somehow managed to reach JongIn's ears and he immediately jumped from the sides of Suho's convertible.
"Hell, no!" He raised his arms in defense, "I'm awake now, hyung!"
"It's Suho to you now," He pointed his water bottle at him and chuckled. JongIn just rolled his eyes then rubbed them and yawned. Suddenly, Chanyeol barged in with a pouting expression while fidgeting with his fingers.
"Hey, hyung?" Chanyeol came up from behind and poked his shoulder.
"Yes, Yeollie?"
"Baekhyunnie told me not to touch the gasoline pump," He pouted and pointed an accusing finger at Baekhyun as Suho gasped.
"No, no, Yeollie, don't touch it," Suho brought Chanyeol's arms down and patted his hands, "you wouldn't want to us all to die, now would you?" Suho used a tone of voice acting like he was talking to a child as Chanyeol covered his mouth with his available hand and gasped.
"No, Suho-hyung!"
"Then I suggest you stay away from the pump...and gasoline...and/or fire related products," He chuckled nervously as Chanyeol pouted and nodded faintly.
"Okay, okay," He released his hand from Suho and walked towards the car and sat on the backseat with his feet above the passenger's seat as he fidgeted on his Gameboy. Yes he still had one.
Nobody's POV.
The boys quickly ended their break and got back inside the car, Baekhyun refusing to sit on Chanyeol's lap again but Chanyeol insisted that it was no problem and therefore, the whole trip resulted in Baekhyun sitting on top of Chanyeol again. As they drove along the road, JongIn fell asleep again and threatened his hyungs and dongsaengs that if they wake him up, he would kick their sorry asses. This of course scared the others, knowing that could be easily possible when JongIn was pissed or sleepy.
Chanyeol's arms circled perfectly around the smaller boy's frame, pulling the sleeping boy closer to his chest so he could have better commodity for himself. He yawned and snuggled closer to the boy, allowing his head to rest on the nape of his neck as Suho observed them and raised an eyebrow, shifting his eyes towards Kyungsoo, observing him and somehow asking him with a look of his eyes if he knew something of the slightly too comfortable best friends in the backseat. Kyungsoo just shrugged and laughed quietly. Sehun looked at Chanyeol and Baek's sleeping arrangements and sighed as he rested his head on his knuckles while looking out the window dramatically. He glanced down upon JongIn, who was happily snoring against his shoulder that was slightly covered in drool. And this is what I get Sehun thought while rolling his eyes and sighing in discontent. It was now 9:34 PM and the boys yet had to be there at 10:30 sharp. Suho sighed and kept driving, trying to maintain his drowsiness and staying awake for his dongsaengs. Suddenly, he hears muffled breathing; he turns the mirror back to the backseat and notices it was just Chanyeol and his loud breathing at night. Quite a scare leader Suho caught there. He glanced over to Kyungsoo who tried to stay awake and then at JongIn who looked dangerously peaceful and then at Sehun who looked like he was willing to push JongIn away any second and close his drooling mouth with his own fist.
Sooner or later, the boys had fallen asleep except Suho. Even if it were to be fifteen minutes of sleep, his boys had to be well slept for a long night in a crowded train towards China, even if it meant him staying awake to drive them towards their destination.
~~
"Kyungsoo-ah..." Suho stirred Kyungsoo in his seat, ‘’Kyungsoo-ah…"
"Hmm?" Kyungsoo answered and yawned, "Are we here yet?" He asked lazily.
"As a matter of fact, we are," Kyungsoo went wide eyed at Suho's answer and hopped out of the car to wake the others up even if it meant stirring them violently.
After a successful attempt of waking Sehun, Chanyeol and Baekhyun, JongIn was yet the last one to be woken. He glanced over at the younger's sleeping figure. He looked so at peace and happy, his eyelashes batting slightly, his full lips parting and sending melodic sounds that were music to Kyungsoo's ears and his body shifting quietly. Kyungsoo had never seen JongIn in such a peaceful state, where nothing could bother him and where he didn't have to worry about his hyungs and dongsaengs getting hurt. That was the JongIn he longed to see one day. He smiled and felt a slight tugging on his chest. Suddenly, he snapped out of his thoughts and tried to stir him…carefully.
"J-JongIn-ah..." No response, "JongIn..." He was about to shake his shoulders… "Jong—‘’ …until he gasped as JongIn caught his hand in the act, making him gasp in horror as JongIn opened his eyes slowly, only to find Kyungsoo in a shocked state. He stared at Kyungsoo and looked into his eyes, still holding onto his hand. He wanted to apologize for scaring him but had no words towards the older as he started stuttering.
"I-I—"
"S-Sorry," JongIn let go of his hands and cleared his throat awkwardly while looking around, "I'm awake now..."
"Good, because we're here, now let's go!" Suho barged in and released the entire luggage from the trunk and gave a few bags to Sehun who looked like he was struggling.
After they settled their luggage and managed to run with them, they got to the station and noticed the train was still there. Suho sighed, relieved they didn't take up time while getting their bags and stuff as the others looked tired after running.
"Get inside," Suho ordered and they complied. One by one, they entered the train and sat down near the end of it. The seats were facing each other and they could fit three people in each. The orders were Suho with Sehun and Kyungsoo on the left side and Chanyeol, Baekhyun and JongIn on the right. JongIn didn't take any second thoughts and just leaned his head against the window and dozed off pretty easily while Sehun was looking out, excited that they finally boarded and are going to Bùréndào.
"Okay, what now?" Asked an anxious Chanyeol who luckily didn't have tomato-faced Baekhyun in his lap.
"We wait," Suho smiled angelically and intertwined his fingers together while placing his hands on his knees, "it'll be a long trip, boys," He sighed, "I suggest you have some rest"
"I'm not tired," Chanyeol frowned and pouted while crossing his arms against his chest, "I'm hungry."
"Ah, right," He snapped his fingers and reached for his bag that was full of things they might need on the train, "have this" He reached out for a granola bar and tossed it to Chanyeol who just shrugged and opened it, engulfing it in one bite.
"Umm, better?" Kyungsoo asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yup," Chanyeol answered with a mouth full of food and gave him thumbs up approvingly.
"There's more of those where that came from," Suho smiled again and sighed, letting his head throw back against the seat as he closed his eyes, trying to sleep as he pictured in his head a perfect scenery of his dongsaengs and him being who they were in a place they belonged for three hard years of study and knowledge. He smiled one last time before finally sighing off to sleep and feeling the others doze off as well.
~~
"How could you have accepted them?!"
"They're powerful! And their abilities are far unknown to us here,"
"They could mean danger!"
"They're kids!"
"I don't care!" He exclaimed angrily, "What about my kids?!" The other sighed and dropped his head then raised it to look into his eyes.
"Han Geng…please understand a couple of Koreans would do us no harm, right?" He got on his knees and grabbed the other's hand, pleading for an answer.
"How would you know?" Han Geng raised an eyebrow.
"I don't..." He sighed, "just take this in consideration…they've already exited Seoul and are boarding the train...please give them a chance, you wouldn't know unless you try and educate them and I wouldn't know unless they destroy us and try to take the Legendary's position."
"Tssk..." He released his hand and tapped his chin. "Yes, I understand…who would dare take their position?"
"No one..."
"Then I accept," The other released a much needed exhale of relief but looked up into the other's eyes as to look for approval. "But...if they dare cause menace against my Legendary 6, they’re dead."
"Deal," He released his hand as Han Geng smirked.
"Thank you," He bowed before he exited the room, leaving Han Geng by himself, wondering what would be of him and his academy in a couple of hours. A long session of meditating is much needed, thank you very much.
