I sighed, I wanted to cry. FML! Jang Hyun Seung forgot our date today-AGAIN.

This became a hobby of his. Skipping our dates.  When was the last time we had a perfect date, hmm. Let me see, I think it was 5 months back then. And he’s been like this for 5 months. I wanted to cry so much, he’s leaving me alone in a coffee shop and I always have to order a coffee or something just so I could stay here, I’d check on my phone thinking that you’ll text me or inform me that you won’t be able to come, but none of these.

There’s another reason why I wanted to cry,  it’s because when he skips our date, I see him with a girl, who’s so much more beautiful than me, so much taller than me and so much capable of being Hyun Seung’s girlfriend, when I see them together, they look so happy, unlike when he’s with me.

Flashback.

“Hyun Seung! I missed you!” I said as I approached him at school and hugged him.

He smiled but then he broke away from my hug and walked away. I wanted to cry at that moment, I was humiliated, although there were only few people at that time, who weren’t even listening and watching us, I was humiliated for some unknown reason.

End Flashback

I walked home bowing my head down because I don’t want people to see me cry, they’d think I was crazy.

I arrived home and I saw my brother Yo Seob oppa.

“Yang Ye Seol! Why are you crying?” He approached me and gave me a big bear hug and wiped my remaining tears away.

“O-o-oppa..” I started to talk between sobs.

He looked at me straight in the eye and asked “What happened Ye Seol? Tell me everything.”

“He didn’t show up again on our date.”  I said.

“Oh Ye Seol. I’m so sorry.” He hugged me tighter. I smiled indicating that I’m fine and broke free from his tight hug and went to my room.

Even though Hyun Seung is hurting me this much, I am very thankful to have a big brother like Yo Seob oppa. I heard a knock on the door and I know that the others are already home.

I live with Yo Seob oppa and his friends since our parents died, I have always been surrounded by 6 guys together with one unni of mine, Jun Hyung’s older sister, Yong Jae Ra. And of course, Hyun Seung is also living with us.

I went downstairs because I know Yo Seob oppa already prepared dinner for us and I am so starving.

I saw Doo Joon, Ki Kwang, Jun Hyung and Jae Ra. But no Hyun Seung.

“What happened to you Ye Seol?” Jae Ra unni and Dong Woon oppa chorused.

“He didn’t show up at our date again.”  I told them.

“He wasn’t with us a while ago; we didn’t see him the whole day.” Jae Ra unni said.

“He was out early today, and he told me that we were going to have a date today at our favorite coffee shop but still he didn’t show up.” I told them.

Jun Hyung snarled “I’m going to rip him into pieces if he continues to do that.”

I smiled “Thanks for your concern but you don’t need to do that to him, I’ll just confront him.”

They looked at me.

“What?!” I asked.

Doo Joon said “Nothing.”

I sighed as we ate our dinner in silence. After eating, it was my turn to wash the dishes. As I was about to go to wash the dishes. Ki Kwang oppa stopped me. “I’ll do it for you. You seem so sad. Go and take a rest.”  I hesitated but then I nodded and went upstairs to my bedroom. I forgot to tell you that I’m sharing my room with Jae Ra unni.

I saw her in our bedroom sleeping already.

“Yah! You just ate and you’re already sleeping!” I bounced at her bed.

She groaned “Stop it Ye Seol!” I didn’t pay attention to her. And continued to bother her in her sleep.

“Would you just give it a rest? I’m trying to sleep here you know.” She said already annoyed.

I stopped and went to the washroom to change my clothes into a pair of pajamas. After that, I went to my bed and then tears built in my eyes as I remembered how everyday was worsening for me. Then I began to sob non-stop and I noticed Jae Ra unni come to my bed and she said “I’m sorry Ye Seol. I was just tired.”

I smiled “Nothing’s your fault. I just wish we were back to normal.”

“Oh honey. I’m so sorry.” She wiped my tears using her thumb.

“Yah! Go to sleep already. I know you’re tired.”  I told her.  She wouldn’t listen so she still sat beside me in my bed.  I tried pushing her off my bed but she was so strong and so I lost my strength.

“You know Ye Seol, you could always have us, your friends even though babo Hyun Seung doesn’t want to have you, because we will always love you no matter what.” She comforted me.

I smiled at her “Thank you Jae Ra unni.” She smiled and went to sleep as I did the same as she did.

The next days came by swiftly and it was still the same as those days where he kept on ignoring me. I stopped on trying to get his attention eventually and focused on my friends, who as Jae Ra said would always be there for me whenever. Tomorrow was my birthday and Yo Seob oppa already planned that they would give me a birthday party and every one of us will be there.

I opened the door to our house and saw them all lurking around and I shouted “I’m home! Back from the groceries. Jun Hyung oppa! Help me carry the groceries.” After saying that, Jun Hyung oppa was there in an instant. He smiled and got the plastics at my hand and went to the kitchen.

“Welcome home sweetie.” Jae Ra unni kissed my forehead. I smiled at her.

I looked at her and asked “He isn’t here again?”  She nodded but then she smiled happily “Let’s go to our bedroom. I have a surprise for you.” I smiled and went with her willingly.

“Close your eyes.” She ordered me as I did. She opened the door and I opened my eyes and saw a pink box over my pink bed.

“Jae Ra unni, what is this?” I went beside the box.” I asked her.

She squealed. “It’s a make up set full of everything you need, hair straightener, curler, make up, face masks etc.” 

“OMG! Thanks. You really know what I need.” I told her.

She dragged me to her mirror and sighed “You seriously need some work.”

“Then let’s get to work.” I smiled as she got the pink box and started working.

We had fun messing up with our hair, face and everything.

After our work is done, we looked in the mirror and we were very satisfied with our look. I smiled at Jae Ra unni and said “Thanks. You made me very pretty even before my birthday.”

She smiled “No problem.”

I stared at my reflection; I had big curls, pink lips, light blue eyelids and pink cheeks. Just the way I wanted when I was a little kid. I write it all on my diary. Wait― has she been reading my diary?!

“Yah! Jae Ra unni! Did you read my diary?”  I asked suspiciously.

She snorted “I don’t even know it was under your bed and stuck with a gum.”

I smiled sarcastically. “So you’ve been reading it really.”

“Ooops―! Sorry I read your diary.” She said.

I giggled “It’s okay. Let’s go downstairs.” She nodded and we went downstairs.

They were all looking at me. My face blushed “Whaat?”

“Hyung! Who is this?” Dong Woon face palmed himself.

Yo Seob oppa went to the living room from the kitchen and jaw dropped.

My face fell as I said “You guys don’t like it?”

“Don’t like it? We love it!”  Jae Ra said as everyone nodded.

The next day, I woke up and went down stairs still in my PJs.

“Yah! Yang Ye Seol! Don’t wear that here.” Jae Ra unni said and dragged me back upstairs and made me change into a pink cocktail dress.

We went down and I saw Hyun Seung there. He waved his hands and I waved my hands too.

Jae Ra unni pushed me to his side as he offered his hand which I quickly grabbed.

He gestured outside and so we went outside.

“Happy Birthday Ye Seol!”  He told me. I smiled “Thanks oppa.”

It was an awkward moment after. He got something from his pocket and showed me a small pink box. He opened it and saw a customized heart shaped locket with the initials YYS&JHS engraved in it. He made me wear the necklace and looked at me.

“I love you Ye Seol, happy birthday.” He said.

“But, you never showed up on our dates, and I see you with another girl. I never even see you at our house.” I told him.

“Oh, I never showed up on our dates because, I was with my cousin, In Young. I asked her to help me buy you a gift. I was having a hard time buying you a gift because I thought you would not like it. I’m very sorry.” He said.

“I’m also sorry if I had bad thoughts about you and your cousin. I didn’t know.” I told him.

He smiled. “It’s okay, all that matters is that now you know that I love you very much and I won’t ever ever leave you. Because we’ll be together forever. Till death do us part.”

“Oh. I love you too so much Hyun Seung.  I won’t leave you too. Because we’ll be together forever and nothing and no one will ever break us apart.” I told him and he kissed me on the lips and I kissed him back.

We then went back to the house and started my birthday party.

I have to admit, this is the best birthday in my whole life. Knowing that my boyfriend wouldn’t ever leave me and we’ll forever be together.  And I have wonderful friends who would always support me whenever, an amazing brother who would always protect me from anything. I am the luckiest girl alive.
