Luhan / So Yoon

Your heart skipped a beat in your chest when you saw him flawlessly step out of the car. He was in the middle of saying something when he saw you and stopped. The both of you stared at each other for a moment before a girl popped out behind him. Your eyes wandered to her for a second before you quickly looked back to him and forced a polite smile with a nod of acknowledgement.

“Annyeong.” You gave a small wave before the pretty girl shyly looked your way. He was about to reply when your younger sister suddenly jumped out from nowhere, practically screaming, “LUHAN-OPPA! You’re here!” She rushed over and immediately tackled him while you quickly turned away to avoid him and his new girlfriend.

“Ah, Luhan came.” Mi Sun, your best friend smiled as she walked over to help you pull out your tent.

“Ne.” You laughed lightly, despite the huge hole in your chest.

“Are you sure you’re going to be all right, So Yoon?” Mi Sun asked quietly so that only you heard.

“Ne. I’ll manage.” You quickly smiled before punching her playfully in the arm, “Remember? I’m a tough girl.” You pulled out the sleeping bags before hearing Mi Sun sigh under her breath, “…not after the break up, you’re not.” You only ignored her and pretended that you didn’t hear her as you pulled out all the other stuff.

“Do you girls need any help?” Luhan’s angelic voice startled you and you quickly turned to see him walking over with your little sister in his arms.

“Hye Mi, get off of Luhan and go get your things.” You cleared your throat before swiftly adding, “No. We’re okay. Thanks.” You wanted to slap yourself for making things so awkward as Hye Mi jumped out of Luhan’s arms and hurried off. You turned your attention back to getting the other things out of the trunk while Mi Sun tried to make things less tense around you two.

“Your girlfriend’s really pretty by the way. What’s her name?” Mi Sun giggled nervously and you tried not to freeze on the spot as your ears perked up.

“Ah…” Luhan laughed lightly before replying, “Ling Fa’s just a friend.”

“Oh, well…she’s super pretty.” Mi Sun nudged you with her foot before you quickly grabbed the tent and scurried off to set it up. After you finished setting everything up and you went back to grab all the sleeping bags and pillows when you ran into Ling Fa.

“Oh, I’m really sorry!” Her voice made her even cuter and you felt a little jealousy stir up inside of you, but only smiled back as you answered as cheerfully as you could, “No problem!”

“Hey, you’re Luhan’s ex, right?” She frowned and you felt a sudden weight fall upon your shoulders when you heard the word ex.

                “ Um…yeah. I am…” You tried to keep smiling.

“I guess you are kind of pretty,” She said before you blinked in surprise at her sudden blunt statement, “Mwo?” She smiled sweetly before nodding, “Well, last week I asked Luhan out, but he said that he’ll think about it. Soooo, naturally, I assumed that that he still had feelings for his ex and that’s why I asked him if his ex was pretty or not. Don’t worry. He said that you’re pretty and I didn’t believe him. But now that I see you, I think you are kind of pretty.”

“Oh…” Ouch. That definitely was a harsh blow at your self-esteem.

“Yeah, well. They’re starting the bonfire now, so you should hurry and join us, okay?” She beamed and then quickly left before you could say anything. Anger quickly replaced the pain that you felt in your chest and you hurried over to the car to grab the sleeping bags.

“He said that you were pretty and I didn’t believe him. But now that I see you,  I think you are kind of pretty.” You mocked her incredibly cute voice, “Pfft. So what if I’m not pretty enough? At least I’m not a snob like you. Dumb bi—”

“There’s the old So Yoon.” His voice washed over you like rain and you instantly shut your mouth before whipping around to see Luhan walking up to you. He had a small half smile on his lips as he chuckled, “I was wondering where your attitude went. You were so meek before…I was surprised.”

“Meek?” You tried to contain spasms of anger that erupted inside of you when you saw him. It was only two months since your break up and he was already picking up girls like there was no tomorrow. Did your relationship with him ever actually mean a thing to him?

“Ne. Actually, I need to talk to you about something…” He blushed before you felt the anger quickly die down and sadness crept back up in your chest.

“Uh—um—I—I have to put this away first. Tell me later.” You quickly grabbed the bags and left before he could start. You felt your heart pound in your chest as you walked away. What did he want to talk to you about? It wasn’t like you were still his girlfriend anyways. If he wanted to start dating Ling Fa, he could go straight ahead. It wasn’t like you cared…a lot. Maybe you only cared a teeny bit, but that was all. You sighed to yourself as you threw the sleeping bags and pillows into the tent before heading over to the bonfire where everyone else was hanging.

“Yah, where were you, So Yoon?” Mi Sun shouted before laughing when she saw you.

“Uh, I was setting up the tent and getting everything ready without your help. Thanks.” You shot back before grabbing a chair beside her. Hye Mi climbed out of Mi Sun’s lap before hurrying over to you and getting onto your lap. You pulled her close and wrapped your arms around her before one of the guys frowned at you from across the circle.

“So Yoon, you do realize that this camping trip was meant for 18 and up, right?” He was semi glaring at you and you only shot it back at him.

“My parents are out of town and I can’t just leave her home alone, so deal with it. Or, would you have rather I just not come at all, huh?” You glared back before he nodded, “Yeah, maybe you should’ve just stayed home.”

“Young Min, shut up. She was my ride here andI brought the drinks, so, mind you.” Mi Sun stood up for you before giving you a wink.

“Ayo! Luhan! Where you been?” One of the guys laughed before you looked up to see Luhan settle in beside Ling Fa and Young Min. He smiled and chuckled lightly before catching your eyes for a moment. You quickly looked back to Hye Mi and pretended to play with her hair before Young Min pulled out the booze.

“Young Min, at least wait until the kid falls asleep first!” Mi Sun quickly spoke up and tried to stop you from getting up.

“No. If So Yoon wants to leave, she can.” Young Min frowned at you before you gave him a sarcastic smile, “Don’t worry. I am.” You rolled your eyes before Hye Mi grabbed onto you left while everyone else started to drink and have fun.

“Unni, mianhae.” Hye Mi clutched onto your hand tightly when you let her down.

“Ani. Unni doesn’t care.” You smiled back at her before she pouted.

“If Unni didn’t have me, then she could have fun, too.” Hye Mi sighed before you lightly knocked her on the head and laughed, “Pabo. I’ll have more fun with you anyways! Come on, let’s go catch some fireflies.” The two of you began running around trying to catch fireflies and just when your little sister’s giggles were starting to help you forget about Luhan and Ling Fa, you heard all the guys and girls shout and laugh out loud from the bonfire. You stopped for a second and looked up just in time to see Luhan and Ling Fa locking lips with each other.

“Unni! Oppa is kissing that pretty girl just like he used to kiss you!” Hye Mi pointed before you felt your heart wounds re-open.

“Ai—Aigoo, don’t look, Hye Mi! That’s nasty!” You forced yourself to laugh lightly at your clueless little sister’s comment as you went back to catching fireflies. Guess that kiss confirmed that Luhan accepted Ling Fa’s confession. Hye Mi laughed before trying to catch more fireflies with you, while you quietly sniffed and held back all the tears that were just waiting to burst from your eyes.

“Unni! Unni! Look! I caught one!” Hye Mi quickly ran over to you with her cupped hands when she tripped and fell. You swiftly ran over to her before laughing lightly as you pulled her back up onto her feet, “Whoa there, are you okay, baby?” You brushed grass off of her knees before she let go of the bug and stomped her foot.

“I don’t want to catch fireflies anymore! I don’t want to fall again!” She crossed her arms and huffed cutely before you laughed, “Okay. Then what do you want to do? Do you want to count the stars?” You suggested before she shook her head. You sighed and tried to think of something else when she suddenly pushed you aside and ran, shouting, “Oppa! Oppa! Luhan-oppa!” You turned back around before seeing Luhan catch her and pick her up into his arms.

“Hye Mi, what are you doing?” Luhan smiled back at her before looking back over to you.

“Are they done already?” You pulled your phone out from your sweater pocket before checking the time. It was only 10:39pm, which was still way too early for group to quit.

“No. I just came to grab something.” He nodded over to his tent before grinning at Hye Mi as he carried her along with him, “Are you bored, Hye Mi?” Hye Mi nodded her head furiously in agreement before Luhan motioned for you to follow.

“Well, I have a surprise for you then!” Luhan grinned and put her down as you guys reached the tent before he went into the tent and grabbed a few things. You saw him grab a bottle of alcohol and inwardly sighed. Just two months and already so many things had changed about the both of you. You didn’t realize how much until now. He used to hate drinking and now, obviously, he liked it more than he must have ever liked you.

“Here you go,” Luhan handed a ton of packs of unopened glow sticks to Hye Mi before she gasped loudly in excitement.

“Unni! Glow sticks!” She quickly turned to you and handed you all the glow sticks before you took them and smiled a small smile back to Luhan, “Gomawo.” He smiled and opened the bottle before you took Hye Mi’s hand and tugged her over to the grassy area where no tents were set up. You glanced back and saw him take a large gulp before frowning in disappointment to yourself as you and Hye Mi sat down onto the ground and you opened the packets for her.

“Oppa! What were you doing?” Hye Mi asked loudly before Luhan suddenly sat down beside you guys.

“I was just rinsing out my mouth.” He chuckled before you smelt the mint on his breath.

“Wait—so that wasn’t alcohol?” You blurted out and looked back to him before he laughed, “Ani. I don’t drink, remember?” That pang in your chest from before seemed to soften before you muttered a quiet, “Oh…yeah. I forgot.” He stared at you and you rapidly turned your attention back to opening the packets before handing the glow sticks to Hye Mi.

“Aren’t you going to go back? They sound like they’re having a lot of fun.” You tried to sound casual as you opened all the packets and Hye Mi handed them to Luhan to crack for her.

“Ani. It’s getting a little too crazy,” He must have sense your unease, because he swiftly added, playfully, “Plus. Hye Mi’s a lot more fun to hang out with, right, Hye Mi?”

“Chincha?” Hye Mi gleamed and you couldn’t help but smile when you saw how happy your baby sister was as Luhan connected the glow sticks and made a ton of bracelets for her to wear.

“Chincha.” Luhan poked her on the nose before she jumped onto him and laughed, “I like Luhan-oppa the best!”

“Yah! What about me?” You teasingly poked her in the stomach with a glow stick before she laughed and dodge behind Luhan. You got up to chase her and she screamed before Luhan quickly got up to protect her. You tried to step around him, but he kept getting in your way.

“Hey!” You couldn’t stop laughing, because Hye Mi’s screaming and giggles were too contagious. Luhan was also laughing as he continued to block your every move. Then you reached out and behind him and grabbed onto Hye Mi before she screamed, “Oppa! Help! She’s got me!”

“Oh no!” Luhan suddenly wrapped his arms around you, surprising you before Hye Mi slipped from your hold and he replied, “Hurry, Hye Mi! Go hide! I’ve got her!” Hye Mi screamed again before laughing as she ran away.

“Yah—” You chuckled nervously and tried to pull out of his grip to go after your sister, but he only tightened his hold around you, while shouting, “Hide, Hye Mi! Hide!” You struggled and saw your sister with all her colorful glow stick bracelets race into your tent.

“Aigoo, I can see the bracelets.” You sighed and then tried to pull away again, only to find that he still wasn’t letting you go. You looked up to him before frowning, “Um, Luhan. You can let go now.”

“Hye Mi! Stay where ever you are! Don’t move or else So Yoon will find you, arraso?!” He shouted out before looking back to you.

“Are you stalling for time?” Your eyes widened in disbelief as you tried to pull away again when he only pulled you closer.

“I need to talk to you.” The smile disappeared from his face before you silently swallowed the abrupt lump in your throat.

“Okay, okay. I’m right here. You can let go.” You were glad that you didn’t stutter this time as you looked down and away from his mesmerizing eyes.

“Ani. If I do, then you’ll just run away.” He breath before you looked back up to him in surprise.

“Then—hurry and just tell me already.” You blushed and inwardly sighed in relief that it was dark enough so that he wouldn’t see. This time, you looked him straight in the eyes. You weren’t going to run away from this pain any more. If he wanted to confront you about his new relationship with Ling Fa, then you just wanted to get it over with. You might as well face it now.

“Why did we break up?” His gentle question made your mind do a flip.

“Mwo?” You frowned before he leaned in closer, “I want to know why we broke up.” You felt his warm breath brush against your lips before feeling your cheeks heat up again.

“Aigoo—” You tried to push him away lightly, “Why are you asking me?”

“Because you called it.” His answer was immediate and you looked back up to him before feeling his eyes bore into your very soul. You suddenly remembered how his eyes always wandered away from you and how he began to show less interest in you and how nothing just seemed to work out whenever you two were together.

“Well—you were falling out of love with me. I didn’t want to burden you, so that’s why I called it.” You quickly looked away from him and blinked back the tears that were starting to form in your eyes.

“Chincha?” He asked in a voice barely above a whisper.

“I’m not stupid, Luhan. I saw it in your eyes. You just didn’t know how to confront me about it, so that’s why I broke it off for you.” You felt a tear slip and quickly looked down to hide it.

“I guess, you’re right…I was falling out of love with you…” His hold loosened around you before you stepped back and heard a crackle. Both of you glanced down before seeing the light glow from one of the boxes. Luhan let go of you and grabbed the box before you turned to leave when he stopped you.

“Wait—” He grasped onto your wrist right before you could walk away.

“Mwo?” You didn’t turn around to face him, because you couldn’t hold back any more tears. You quickly wiped them away with your sleeve and only hoped that he didn’t see as he let go of your wrist and cracked the glow sticks.

“Can you help me put it on?” He handed you a glow stick before you turn around and quickly wrapped it around his wrist. You held out your hand for a connector before he handed you one and you connected the two ends of the pink glow stick together. Then you turned to leave, when he stopped you again.

“What do you want?” You groaned and tried not to sound like you were choking on your words when he cracked another glow stick.

“I wanted to tell you…” He started quietly and looked down just as you forced yourself to look back at him. “I wanted to tell you that I’ve been thinking about us for the past two months.” Your eyes widened and you stiffened as he cracked all of the glow stick and it shined a sapphire blue.

“And, I’ve been thinking about you nonstop…and I think the reason why I fell out of love with you was because I may have took our relationship for granted.” He slowly and gently wrapped the blue glow stick around your wrist. “When Ling Fa asked me out, I remember how you had confessed to me and it made me think. I started to think a lot, like how I fell in love with you and how you fell in love with me. And it made me realize how much I missed you.” He connected the ends with a click, “I’m glad that I rejected her, because seeing you now made me remember why I fell for you.” He finally looked back up to you before cracking a small smile as he took your hand into his.

“Mwo?” Your voice was barely audible.

“I fell in love with So Yoon, because she’s the type of girl that would choose to play with a little kid and glow sticks over drinking and partying any day.” He squeezed your hand gently before reaching out to wipe a stray tear off your face.

“But…just now…I saw you kiss Ling Fa.” You murmured softly before he leaned in and captured your lips with his.

“The difference is—I didn’t kiss her. She kissed me…But I’m not going to rinse my mouth with mouthwash after I kiss you.” He chuckled before you felt all the cold lingering pain in your heart melt away as he wrapped his arms around you again.

“So, you’re saying…” You trailed off, nervously.

“I choose you, So Yoon.”He pulled your hand up and kissed it softly before you saw how perfectly both of your glow stick bracelets matched together. A small smile crept onto your face before you smiled back at him, “Arraso.” Then you two shared another kiss before—

“Oppa! Is Unni still looking for me or not! I’m getting tired of waiting for her!” Hye Mi yawned loudly from the tent before you two glanced at each other and laughed. Then he entwined his fingers with yours before you two headed over to your tent and he smiled, “Let’s never break up again.”
