The Confession

The Simple You

Eun Ah and Hani joined Baro, Sandeul and Gongchan on their table. While Shinwoo, Namji and Jinyoung on the other one. Jinyoung couldn’t take his eyes off of Eun Ah as she cheerfully spoke with his friends.

“Come on, talk to her.” Namji said. “You said that you regretted it when you didn’t confess to her. Now is your chance. And look, doesn’t she look so lovely tonight?”

“Yes, she looks so lovely. I wonder what happened to her but I really missed her.” He said.

The music started to play and all of you stood up from your seats and danced with song “Feeling”. You were enjoying the dorky dance that Sandeul and Baro were doing when the emcee stopped the fun time for a moment.

“Mianhaeyo! Sorry to cut off the fun but I have to say something. First of all, thank you all for coming. I know you guys missed all your old folks, geureso? So, we are going to play a game. In the count of three, we will turn the lights off and then, each one of you will hold the person that you missed the most. And in the count of three, we’ll turn the lights on again so you could see who missed you. Is that clear?

“NE!!” everyone excitedly agreed.

“Ne, so let’s start! Han, deul, set….” And lights went off.

Eun Ah started to feel nervous so she didn’t make any move. Suddenly, someone grabbed her hand and led her somewhere. She was so startled that she couldn’t even protest.

“Han, deul, set…” and the light went on again. Everyone was so happy to see the person who missed them, but Sandeul noticed something. “Where’s Eun Ah?”

“Where’s Jinyoung?” as Shinwoo asked the same question.

“Omo, could it be possible that they’re together?” Hani assumed while thinking about her best friend. Namji didn’t say anything but she was just smiling in the corner. “Finally! You can do it Jinyoung!”

Eun Ah couldn’t believe her eyes as she saw Jinyoung holding her hand.

“Jinyoung, where are you bringing me?”

“Somewhere, where nobody can see you. Just follow me.” It might sound strange but even though it looked like he kidnapped her, Eun Ah just did as he said.

After running from the party, they finally sat in a bench. Jinyoung could see how she shivered because of the cold breeze in the evening so he took off his coat and let her wear it. She didn’t expect his sudden action but deep inside she really liked it.

“I didn’t know that you like wearing short dresses like that. And your lips, aren’t they too red?” as he looked at her face carefully.

“Yah! Jung Jinyoung! All the boys inside complimented and you? What are you even doing?” She irritatedly said and pushed him away. She got conscious when he looked at her that way. Jinyoung just smirked and looked up to watch the stars in the night sky.

“What happened to you in these past three years? After graduation, I haven’t heard anything from you anymore?” Jinyoung said out of nowhere.

She didn’t know how to respond but her feelings were getting more inexplicable as he continued to talk. “Why did you have to change?” he asked again, but looking at her this time.

She tried to look away but she had to be brave. “Because people change and so do I.”

“But I think the old Eun Ah was way better – way prettier. Simple and sweet.” What he said confused her more.

“What are you trying to say? Why are we even here? The boys must be looking for us now. And Namji must be looking for you.”  She couldn’t take it anymore.

Jinyoung heaved a sigh. He stood up and stood in front of her. He took her hands and let her stood with him.

“Listen to me because I’m going to say this once…” he held her hands tightly like he wouldn’t let her go. This made Eun Ah’s heart to beat even faster. She felt like she’ was going to faint anytime soon but she also looked in to his eyes. She could see sincerity with them.

“I don’t like your flashy-make up, I like your simple pretty face. I don’t like your short skirts, jeans look good on you. I don’t like curly hairstyle, because I like your long straight hair. I don’t like the red lips, your sweet smile is enough. I like the old you because that’s what made me fall for you. Do you understand?”

She was left speechless. What is he trying to say? Is he in love… Before she could finish her thoughts he cut her off again.

“Aish, are you listening? Han Eun Ah! I love you!”

“Are you confessing just now? Do you mean since we’re in high school, you already like me?”

“Yes! And I’m such a coward for not telling you that when I had the chance to. Eun Ah, do you love me too?”

“Jung Jinyoung! What kind of question is that? Don’t you know that the reason I became like this was you. I thought you’d notice me if I looked like this. Just like Namji and wait what about her? You two are…”

Jinyoung gently put his finger to her lips that me her stop. “You don’t have to worry about Namji because there’s nothing between her and me. And you haven’t answered my question yet.” He softly said.

She shyly bowed her head and when she was ready to speak, she looked at him again. “Yes Jinyoung, I love you too since the first time I saw you. You never failed to put a smile on my face. You have no idea how much I missed you.” Tears started to fall from her eyes but Jinyoung wiped it off with a kiss. He started from her forehead, to her cheeks, her nose and lastly, he sweetly kissed her lips.

On the other hand, Namji was talking with the boys and told them the truth.

“Mwo!? You’re Jinyoung’s cousin!” they were shocked with she revealed.

“Yes. The night you saw us together, I wasn’t really feeling well. And the reason why we’re always together was because I asked him to. I also asked him not to tell you about our relationship because I got tired of guys asking me out in school, so I used him so they’d think he’s my boyfriend. And he agreed to it.” As she explained.

“That’s why he’s not really saying anything whenever he asked him.” Gongchan said.

“So, if you guys are cousins, does it mean I have a chance on you?” Shinwoo said as he put his arms on her shoulders.

“Yah! Shinwoo, hands off! That’s not how you treat a girl!” Sandeul said.

“Geurae! And you should ask her in a right way? So Namji, what about dinner tomorrow evening?” Baro said as he winked at her.

Namji just chuckled with these guys’ cuteness. “Araseo, since it seems like you guys all want to get a chance, I’ll give you guys one. But there’s a condition.”

“Mwoyeyo?” They asked excitedly.

“You should show me a dance!”

“Wae geurae!? Aish…” Baro got disappointed.

“I will win this.” Shinwoo bragged.

“No, I will get this! I’ll show her a cute sprout dance!” Sandeul didn’t want to lose.

“Can I join too?” as Gongchan shyly asked his hyungs in the center.

And they enjoyed the rest of the evening with more upbeat songs.
