Burning Tears

[OS] Burning Tears

It was already 5 o’clock p.m. when the boys rode the company van on their way to the H.I.M building for some final announcements. Today is a very special day for them since it’s the 2010 Taiwan Music Festival, the grandest event for the year in the musical industry.

They entered their manager’s room and greeted him politely.

“Good afternoon! Tonight is your night. Are you ready for your number?” and the boys nodded at him. “That good. Well then, it’s time for you to get ready for the night. Your suits are with your personal assistants, which is at the hotel. You’ll be heading to the hotel where all the participants are staying. Is that clear?” and again, they nodded at him.

They were about to leave when Jiro suddenly turned back and asked, “How about our dates? Where will they be staying?”

“You’ll find out when you get there,” and their manager smirked which made them all laugh.

So they quickly went to the said hotel and were welcomed by the hospitable workers. Calvin made his way to the front desk to ask about their room.

“Room 214, sir. And here’s your key.”

“Room 214 it is. Thank you!” Calvin looked at the three other boys and signaled them to follow him.

They reached the second floor and scanned the hallway first before searching for their exact room.

“Nice ambiance, huh?” Arron commented as he looked around.

“You should bring Ella here.” Jiro looked at Chun and hoped for a reply. But all he was able to get was a dumbfounded reaction from Chun. “You must be kidding,” Chun snapped back knowing Jiro’s words had a different meaning.

“Here’s our room. 214,” Chun said while double-checking the room number with the one that’s indicated in the key. Calvin stole the key from Chun as he tried to open the door.

“Where in this hotel would S.H.E and Angela be staying?” Jiro’s ‘curious self’ started to appear again. His voice was loud enough to be heard by the ones who were at the room athwart theirs.

“Jiro?” a woman in her mid-20s appeared. The four looked back and saw Angela in her white tee and shorts. Angela suddenly called for the other three girls and told them that Fahrenheit will be staying at the room across theirs.

“I’ll be going there, later!” Ella screamed. She was still busy feeding her puppy since they will be out for the whole night and no one will be left to watch over her puppy and Selina’s poodle as well.

“Finally!” Calvin interrupted when he saw Chun trying to make his way to the girls’ room. Chun quickly snapped back to reality that his room number was 214, not 215.

Minutes after they entered the room, their personal assistants came bringing their charcoal gray-colored two-buttoned suits. “Ready for the event?” one of their assistants asked.

“Quite scared,” Jiro quickly answered. Fahrenheit’s number was already perfect but their hearts and minds were still bothered about the main event. The award itself. They were not that confident that they would get the Best Male Band for the Year award. But who knows? Maybe good luck will be at their side later tonight and they would be able to have that trophy in their hands.

The aides started preparing the make-up while the boys rehearsed for their song number. It was a good run-thru, should I say. Their voices were conditioned enough to make the crowd go crazy over them. Their bodies were prepared enough to present good choreography to the fans that night.

“I’ll drop by Ella’s room first.” Chun made his way out and went directly to the girls’ room. Calvin wanted to follow his friend’s path but was stopped by the youngest member, Arron.

“Leave them some time alone, brother. Chun is planning something, you know?” His sentence made the two other boys and the assistants stop what they were doing and all eyes were already at Arron.

“What plan? He never mentioned that to me,” Calvin responded. Being the closest friend of Chun in the band, Calvin expected that Chun would tell him about his so-called mission beforehand. But instead of seeking for Calvin, he went to Arron for help.

“I thought you were already informed. Chun is planning to go against the company’s rule.”

“Are you telling me that Chun is going to tell the crowd—“ Jiro was interrupted by Arron’s nod.

“Yes, and I think he’s planning to tell it in our congratulatory speech, if ever we get the award.”

Jiro stood up and tried to follow his colleague, but he was also stopped by Arron. “Don’t ruin their moment, please? I think he’s going to inform Ella about it.”

“No, I’m going to visit Selina,” he said, stuttering.

“Jiro, you’re lying. I may be the youngest member, but I can also warn you at times. I know what you’re up to. Trust me, everything is under control.” Arron flashed an assuring smile. But at the back of his mind, he wanted to tell his older brother, “I know Chun is going to cause a big trouble.”

While the three are left at their rooms having their make-over, Chun peacefully entered the girls’ room. He was welcomed by Angela who was getting herself busy with the kitchen stuff.

“Where’s Ella?” he wordlessly asked. Angela pointed at the end of the hotel room. There was Ella, still enjoying her time with the pets. He thanked Angela and went to Ella.

Selina was about to scream but was signaled by Chun to remain silent. The lady understood Chun’s attempt to surprise Ella and motioned him a good luck sign.

“How I wish I was your dog,” he stated while staring at the lady in front of him, feeding the dogs. Ella was shocked to see Chun since she was just in blue top and white shorts, totally not her normal outfit. Ella tried to get her way to her room, but Chun held her hand tightly and pulled her for a hug.

“…so that we could be together 24/7,” he continued. Tears started forming from Ella’s eyes. She was saddened by Chun’s words. He has a point there. Her dogs could see her almost 24 hours. She brings her pet during interviews, photoshoots, and even while filming her latest drama Down with Love. And what about him? He can only be with Ella when they film Meng Niu commercials. He can only spend time with her when their manager asks them to go H.I.M building. And what’s worse is they still need to go to Brunei if they want to spend more time together since there are less ChunElla fans there.

“Don’t worry, Chunnie! You’re absolutely more important than my dogs.” Her cute childish voice made Chun smile, even if it really hurts for him to keep their relationship as a secret.

Hebe, who passed by the sweet couple, mouthed to Ella that they need to start preparing already. Even though they weren’t nominees for that said event, they still needed to fix themselves since they would be walking in the red carpet with their respective guys.

“You go back to your room now. I’ll start preparing for the event,” Ella said.

But instead of leaving the room, Chun pulled Ella to the couch and made her feel comfortable in his arms. She gently laid her head on his broad shoulders. The three other girls couldn’t help but giggle while watching the two lovebirds have a sweet time together.

“I think I should bring you to our room. The three ladies over there can’t stop themselves from smiling crazily,” Chun whispered to Ella who was already on her way to dreamland. Ella gathered all her senses and followed her boyfriend.

“Knees up!” Chun ordered.

Ella bended her knees and Chun carried her on their way to Fahrenheit’s hotel room.

“Bring her back, safe and sound, okay?” Selina teased Chun. Angela, Selina and Hebe were left there, still having those beams on their faces. They started eating the food that Angela cooked for them. “Tastes good!” Selina and Hebe said in unison.

Ella stayed with the boys for almost thirty minutes. They stayed at Chun’s own room where the assistant started fixing his hair. Ella made herself comfortable with the bed as she stared at Chun being groomed by the older lady.

“Don’t you think they would start spreading rumors about us again? You know, the media has been quiet since Jerry and I ‘went out’ Fine, the media knows about our relationship. Are you sure about this?” Ella asked while Chun and the other boys were getting ready for tonight’s show.

Chun looked at his invitation and recited, “Bring a date with you, if you want.”

Ella gave him a confused look.

“Date, Ella. Date. Aren’t you used to going on events like this? S.H.E has been in the industry for like 10 years and I know that things like this are not new to you, am I right?” and Ella nodded.

“You don’t get my point. Are you…”

“PlanningtotellthepeoplethatEllaChenismygirlfriendandmysoon-to-be-wife? Yes,” he replied, without breathing in between.

His statement left Ella a worried but kind of happy look. Fine, she’s looking forward to his plan. But she was really afraid that the other fans might end up stabbing her for having a handsome boyfriend like Chun.

Ella exited and went to the room across Fahrenheit’s where the three other girls were already busy preparing for the event as well.

“Hey! Why are you crying?” Selina rushed to her dear friend and gave her a sisterly hug.

“I think he’s going to tell the whole world now…”

“Tell what?” Selina asked. Her mind was too bottled up to think about Ella and Chun’s secret relationship.

But Hebe was smart enough to think about the deepest darkest secret. “You and Chun? Well, that would be nice. Then, why are you crying?”

“Tonight.”

“Toniiight?!?” her wives screeched. Ella nodded at them and flashed her puppy eyes. Hebe hugged Ella even tighter which made her sob even more.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I didn’t intend to make you cry even more. Here, grab some tea first so you can relax. You need to get ready for the event, Ella. Don’t mind about him first.”

Selina, known for being so sentimental, cried with her bestfriend Ella. Sure, Ella was strong and funny in front of the camera. But behind the lenses is a girl who easily gets hurt when it comes to personal matters like this.

Selina knelt down and stated, “Ella, don’t cry anymore. We’re here for you. And if all else fails, we will still be together. Don’t think about negative things right now, okay? Just condition your mind that things would end up the way it should be. You have me, your wife and sister. I’m sure Chun would not do this to embarrass you or ruin your career. Of course, if your career would be ruined because of this issue, his career would also be affected, am I right? So come on, flash that childish smile of yours!”

Ella looked at her bestfriend’s eyes. No signs of dishonesty were shown. Gosh, Selina is really a good friend. Little by little, a curve on Ella’s lips was formed. This made Selina smile with her as well.

The media men were already busy capturing all the important details in that said event. Camera flashes can be seen from left to right. But the whole world seemed to stop when a man in his suit went down the black limousine holding a woman’s hand. It was Ella, wearing a red whimsical v-neckline cocktail dress.

“You’re absolutely the prettiest woman here tonight,” Chun whispered to her ear. She just looked at him and smiled back.

The two did their famous red carpet walk as they smiled for the camera. They openly held each other’s hands and didn’t mind about the fuming looks from the jealous fans.

They reached the end of the walkway and Ella made her full turn, revealing her bare y back. Two infamous interviewees approached them and started bombing the couple with different questions. As more and more camera started flashing, Chun held Ella’s waist even tighter, a sign of ‘don’t touch my girl, okay?’ and ‘don’t look at her that way’.

“So you two are really in a relationship? How hard was it to keep your relationship for three—“

“Four years,” Ella corrected him.

“Right, four years. So how hard was it for the both of you to work with different artists and manage to keep the relationship stable?”

Ella’s mind tried to process every word that the interviewee uttered, but she didn’t succeed. It was her first time to be questioned that way. In the past, she was only asked to answer simple questions like, “Are you in love?” and “Are you in a relationship with your co-worker?” And of course she would answer them with a simple answer—NO.

Chun looked at his girlfriend who was really having a hard time dealing out with the question in her mind. It was like she had a big signboard in her head stating ‘HELP ME. I CAN’T ANSWER THAT QUESTION!’ So Chun, being a gentleman, took the initiative to answer the man’s question.

“I’m happy to have a girl like Ella because she is actually not the bossy type of girlfriend. Honestly, she doesn’t care if I work with other artists. For as long as I don’t commit myself to others, she’s really fine with it. Am I right, Ella?”

“Yes, he’s right. And after all, he would end up being stabbed at the back if he goes home with another girl.” Ella’s back with her funny side. The two interviewees just laughed at Ella’s answer.

The two men let the couple off this time. They went straight to the main venue where the event will occur.

Next in line were Jiro and Selina. Selina pulled off a black ennobled strapless gown and a shining silver pouch for her accessory.

“You’re back with your princess look, huh?” Jiro commented.

Hebe and Arron went after Jiro and Selina, who were already being interviewed at the end. There, a girl with a silk chiffon sequined short formal dress started walking with a very cute and charming man beside her.

Lastly, Calvin and Angela went out of the limousine. Angela, who was known for her angelic face dared to wear fabulous purple chiffon short evening dress.

“So, you’re ready to give up your innocent side? You’re so daring tonight!” Calvin said. Angela didn’t feel bad about his comment and she even gave him a unique sneer.

The big function hall was filled with different artists around the world. There were a number of Korean and Japanese artists there. Even some Western singers were also present. Having Show Luo as one of the hosts would definitely bring a light mood to the crowd.

The first part of the event finally started. The best artist in the female category, the best rock singer, and the best music video would be awarded. Right after that, Fahrenheit would be having their intermission number.

“It’s time to go. I’ll leave you here, is that okay?” Chun said.

“No, I want to come with you. I feel so awkward here. The people are actually looking at me.”

“What’s not to stare about a woman who is so y and so beautiful tonight?” he . Chun was about to make his way to the backstage but Ella placed her hand against his.

“You have Selina and Hebe here.”

“But I really want to see what’s happening backstage.” Ella looked at Chun with her famous pleading eyes that no one can resist.

“Chun, let her, please? I know you also don’t want her to throw tantrums here, right?” Hebe really knows how to blackmail Chun. Ella has a strong personality and the girls are sure that she has the guts to create a scene if Chun wouldn’t let her come with him.

“I’ll be with you. It’s not a request, but a command,” Ella insisted. Chun had no choice but to pull Ella along with him.

There were a lot of artists backstage. There were staffs running here and there, some camera man fixing their own cameras, and some organizers preparing the medals, bouquets of flowers for the performers, and the trophies as well.

Some make-up artists started retouching Jiro, Calvin, and Arron’s make-up. But Ella noticed that no one was actually giving attention to Chun. She stared at him, waiting for someone to actually mind about her guy.

“What are you doing? Go, help your boyfriend there!” their manager commanded. Ella felt a bit scared by the presence of their manager. So she quickly grabbed the sponge and applied some foundation on Chun.

While fixing his suit, Ella observed that Chun was trembling. She thought that it was something serious. You know, health-related problems?

“Hey, what’s wrong with you? Are you nervous?” Chun nodded at her.

“You have done this a couple of times before. Then why are you scared?” Ella continued fixing Chun’s outfit and wrapped up by placing a gold accessory in his pocket.

“But it’s the first time that you would be watching me.”

“First time? No, this isn’t the first time, Chun!” Ella tried to recall the time when she watched Fahrenheit perform on-stage.

“I know, I know. But don’t you get it? It’s the first time that you would be supporting me as my girlfriend. As far as I remember, the last time you watched our live performance was during the Chinese Spring Festival which was–“

“Five years ago,” Ella shyly said. Her voice was soft enough that even Chun didn’t hear it.

“Pardon?” But it seemed like Ella misunderstood Chun’s action. She felt like Chun was making her feel bad for not supporting his career for the past few years.

“Fine! FIVE. YEARS. AGO!”

Before Ella could burst out into tears, Chun stole a kiss from her. It was a short but a sweet kiss. The thought of having so many artists around them vanished. They were already in their own little world; a world where they finally found freedom in their inner selves.

To tell you the truth, it was their first kiss, off-screen. Yes, right after the Hana Kimi promotion—the one in Kang Xi Lai Le—they never actually kissed each other on the lips. Sweet, isn’t it? At first, it will give you a ‘What? Why? Huh? You have been together for years, and then you actually haven’t kissed each other off-cam?’ expression. But what’s their reason behind that?

“I’m sorry, I promised you—“

“It’s okay, Chun! It actually feels good, you know?” Ella timidly answered. The boy didn’t have second thoughts on stealing another kiss from her. This time, it was not a short kiss. It was something that both of them wouldn’t forget, ever.

“I promised you that we would only kiss after marriage. But that, that luscious lips of yours… it’s irresta—“ Chun was cut when Ella pushed herself against him. She gave in and made her move. She took the initiative to kiss the man she loves the most.

“Eh… I’m sorry to cut your special moment, but we actually…need…to… go now.” Arron couldn’t help but blush while tapping Chun.

Good thing a staff entered the waiting room and requested the boy band to get ready for the performance. “Up next: Fahrenheit. Two minutes to prepare.”

Ella stood up and fixed her hair. She didn’t have the guts to face Arron because her face was as red as a tomato.

“Don’t worry, we understand you.” Jiro gave Ella a pat on her back. Calvin, Jiro and Arron have an idea about Chun and Ella’s promise to each other. And seeing them kiss for the first time made them very happy for the couple.

Even though the boys flashed a smile to her, she still felt embarrassed after that kiss. She wanted to run to her wives and tell them about this, but it was really crowded in the backstage and there’s no chance of her going back to her seat already.

Chun was right. There was really a chaos backstage a few seconds before their performance. “I should have stayed with Hebe and Selina there,” she thought.

Chun held Ella’s tightly and prayed with her while the emcee introduced their band.

“Good luck, Chun! You can do it!” Ella ily whispered. It gave him chills, but at the same time, it gave him more strength.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the men of the new generation, Fahrenheit!” The crowd started screaming like they’re fanboys and fangirls. This made Ella laugh quietly at the backstage.

The performance was breath-taking. Every move they made gave justice to the song. The charismatic face of Arron together with the angelic voice of Calvin matched up with the two hunks Jiro and Chun definitely made the temperature at that time increase.

The four men bowed down and made their way out. There she was, with her cheeky smile and welcoming aura, waiting for her boyfriend to approach her. “You did absolutely great!”

Arron, Jiro and Calvin threw a ‘he’s not the only one who performed, Ella’ look at her. She understood what they were trying to convey and she abruptly praised the performance in general.

“Let’s go now?” Chun asked, sensing that his girl was already uncomfortable with the situation. Chun’s band-mates just laughed at the couple.

While changing to their normal suits, Chun stole glances at Ella who was busy listening to music through her iPod. She sang along with it as she rested her head on the couch.

“She’s in her own little world again,” Chun whispered. But it was not soft enough that even Arron heard it.

“Let her be that way. Maybe she had a hang-over from your kiss a while ago,” he teased. Who would not feel that way, anyway? To be kissed by a man as hot as Chun can definitely make you go crazy.

“You… You… And your dirty brain! Just call for Selina and Hebe, they’re next.” Chun felt a bit tensed after analyzing his choice of words. It made Arron laugh even more.

“What? You’re being defensive, my brother. And who are you to know the line-up of tonight’s show? You don’t know our schedule, but you know that it’s already your girlfriend’s turn to perform?” he smiled.

Chun looked angrily at him but ended up sticking his tongue out. Arron got up from his seat and made his way to the audience, just to inform the ladies that it’s their time to prepare already.

“Up next: S.H.E. Five minutes to prepare!” another staff entered.

Ella was shocked by what she heard. She was about to throw her iPod, but was slapped back to reality that it isn’t an ordinary gadget.

“What?!? Five minutes??? I haven’t changed yet!” she whimpered.

“I thought you were practicing…with your eyes closed,” Chun said.

“Practicing? I was actually having a power nap.”

Chun went near her and gave her a gentle hug. “Don’t worry, everything is settled. There’s your costume, go get ready.”

Ella felt a bit relaxed and completely forgot about the time allotted for her to get ready. A few seconds after she wore her costume, the two other girls entered the waiting room, both humming to the beat of their latest song SHERO.

“Don’t tell me, you both practiced before coming here?” Ella asked, slightly annoyed.

Hebe and Selina looked at each other with a confused look. How could they practice if it only took them a minute to reach the backstage? Chun gestured the ladies that Ella just got up after a few minutes of resting. Selina understood it and found out a way to put back Ella’s senses.

“Of course! We should practice for the performance, you know? But you were too busy staying here with your guy that you totally forgot about your band-mates.”

“On the lighter side, you actually don’t need to practice anymore. You’re too inspired tonight. I’m sure you won’t commit a single mistake,” Hebe continued.

But Ella was really out of her senses. She didn’t get the point that Hebe and Selina were only teasing her.

“What. Are. You. Saying? I’m not inspired. And who knows, I might commit a lot of mistakes later. I don’t know what to do now. Wait, I need to practice!” She asked her personal assistant to move as she stood up and walked around the room. All eyes were on her, some were confused and some tried their best to control their emotions and not laugh at Ella.

“Ella, relax! They’re just kidding! Here, have a sip first so we can already go to the standby area. Selina, Hebe, go change your apparel now! I’ll walk you to the standby area after,” Chun politely instructed.

“Hey, Chun, it’s as if the standby area is too far! You should have told us ‘I will watch my girlfriend perform’ instead.” Selina flashed an evil grin at Chun. But he just replied with an annoyed smile.

“We are very lucky to have another heavenly group tonight. These ladies have been giving us heart-warming melodies ever since 2001. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, please welcome on stage, the heavenly group of Taiwan, S.H.E!”

Before entering the stage, Selina, Hebe and Ella prayed together with Chun. Selina and Hebe faced the crowd with smiles on their faces. But Ella was left with Chun at the side.

“Hold me,” she whispered. Her eyes were a bit cloudy already.

“Why? Are you scared?” he worriedly asked but followed his girlfriend’s request.

“I’m afraid that I will commit a mistake. I don’t want you to laugh at me if I would end up playing around the stage.”

Chun kissed her on her forehead and lightly pushed her to the stage. She looked back at him and he replied with a supportive smile.

“Hello, everyone! We are S.H.E!”

The music started and the three girls moved their bodies like there’s no tomorrow. Hebe reached the highest note without experiencing difficulties. Selina and Ella were able to blend with each other’s voice without committing sharp or flat notes.

Unlike Ella, who was so serious while watching the boys perform, Chun was so ecstatic while eyeing his girl performing in front of the crowd.

The three entertainers bowed down and happily exited the stage. Chun was there with his arms spread out, ready to give the three ladies a laudatory hug.

“So, worried about committing a mistake, huh? You were totally amazing back there!” Chun helped Ella remove the huge accessory she wore for the number.

“It was all because of you. Your smile made me go on even though I wasn’t able to practice beforehand.” She gently grabbed his hand and let it brush to her cheeks.

After S.H.E’s number was the announcement of winners from the last three categories—The Best Male Band of the Year, The Female Newcomer Award and The Male Newcomer Award. The boys were all excited to hear ‘Fahrenheit’ for the first category. Chun held Ella’s hand as tight as he could, hoping that all his fears would vanish because of her calm touch.

And the moment of truth has arrived. Show waved the small piece of card in his left hand as he looked around the place. The cheers from the crowd became louder and louder, making Show give up and announce the winner already.

“And the winner for the The Best Male Band of the Year is no other than Fahrenheit! Please come up the stage.”

Chun and Ella both stood up and rejoiced because of the announcement. Before leaving his seat, he hugged Ella and gave her a peck on the cheek. Ella was left with a surprised and mesmerized look. Hebe stomped her feet just to get Ella back to reality.

The boys happily went up the stage. Jiro, being the most jovial member of the group, accepted the award and took the first spot to give thanks to their fans. The other two—Arron and Calvin—said their speeches after Jiro. And Chun, who was still shocked by the news, remained silent not until Arron pushed him near the microphone.

Chun placed his hands on his pockets. He felt something weird, so he took his right hand out and found out that Ella placed a piece of paper right after their performance. He read the letter before speaking.

I knew it. You will get the award. Congratulations!

-Mushroom.

He flipped the paper and found something that made him smile.

I forgot to tell you that I love you so much, Chunnie!

He found an inspiration, Ella. So Chun started thanking all their fans. Being the spokesperson of the group, he started thanking their talent agency, then their family members, then their fans, down to his very special girl.

“… And lastly, this would not be possible without the support of our senior S.H.E, especially Ella who constantly kept track of our activities.”

He looked back at Arron and the second guy handed him three 1/8 illustration boards. The first one stated ‘THANK YOU, EVERYONE!’ The second stated ‘LOVE YOU MORE AND MORE’, which was their latest single. And the last one, ‘MARRY ME, ELLA.’

There wasn’t a single noise from the crowd when Chun flashed the last card. They were all shocked by his rapid action. He knew he was wrong because it was indicated in their contract that each member can’t have a relationship with an artist in the same company. But no one can control love, right?

He looked at Ella who was currently hitting Selina. She didn’t know how to react about it. She was happy, but her other half says ‘No, that’s really not a good idea.’ Tears started flowing from her eyes. Each tear symbolized how she felt about Chun’s proposal. She looked at the man before her. He was sincere, really sincere about his proposal.

He gave the signboards to Arron and took three steps forward. He extended his hand and asked Ella to come up the stage. At first, she was doubtful about the idea of accepting his proposal in front of so many famous artists. Hello, there were a number of artists from different countries. Basically, some of them don’t know the thing between Chun and Ella. But then, thanks to her vigorous wives who did all their best just for Ella to get her out of the chair.

Ella scanned the place, there were people who smiled sheepishly at her and there were also some who gave her a supportive grin.

When Ella got herself composed, she openly allowed Chun to grab her hand and pull her closer to him.

“So, what’s your answer, Ella?” Show oddly asked.

Wait. Wait. Wait. Think. Think. Think.

Ella responded to Show’s question with a three-letter word: YES.

The crowd stood up from their seats and clapped their hands for the sweet couple. Chun, who was so surprised by Ella’s answer, carried her and danced like no one was watching them.

“Wow! This is the first time in the music industry that a man proposed to an artist! Congratulations, Chun and Ella!” Show gave Chun a friendly pat on his back and Ella an affable hug.

The two groups went back to the hotel together, safe and sound. It was already 12 midnight and Ella was the only one who had enough energy to join the boys in their mini-after party since the three other girls were so tired from tonight’s activity. Ella and the four boys spent the rest of the night diving into the pool of alcohol. Arron was the first one who became drunk while Chun and Ella were the last man and woman standing.

Chun pulled Ella to his room. He carried Ella and made their way to his bed.

Ella felt something warm just below her rib and realized that it was Chun’s hand under her shirt. She was so bamboozled by his action and even kissed him, giving him a sign to continue with what he’s doing. Their lips parted for a while as they both took their shirts off and went back kissing each other after that.

“Are you sure with this?” Chun politely asked his girl.

“No man can be as sweet as you are, Chun.”

They stopped for a while, looked at each other and searched for signs of regret. But there was none. Chun moved closer to Ella and kissed half of her lips, giving her a chance to back off if she doesn’t want it anymore. But instead of letting go, she brushed her hand against his hair and pushed him closer to her. This time, Chun covered Ella’s lips with his. If it wasn’t because of the person outside, maybe they were already giving each other the most precious gift, the v word.

“Go get it,” Ella asked him. He nodded and gave her the final kiss.

“It’s Selina.” Hearing her bestfriend’s name, she quickly put on the white shirt on the floor and made her way to the main door of their hotel room.

“I’m just here to ask you if you’re going to sleep in our room. Angela wanted to take your bed if you’re not staying with us.”

“I’ll be there in a minute.” Ella unconsciously smoothed her hair as she went back to her, or rather Chun’s room but was stopped by Selina when she called her name.

“Ella!”

“What? I said I’m going back!”

“It’s not that. Let me just remind you that you’re still not married. And before I forget, Chun’s shirt looks good on you, huh?”

Ella checked on her clothes and realized that it was Chun’s shirt that she was wearing. She cursed on her mind and hurriedly went back to Chun’s room to change to her own clothes, a loose red shirt and mini-shorts.

When she was in her own room already, she kept on turning and tossing around the bed. She can’t forget what had happened between her and Chun minutes ago.

“Good thing Selina was there. If not, I would have lost everything already.”

The next day, Fahrenheit had to attend a variety show where the winners from the event last night were the guests. Ella tagged along with him. That was the first interview were they would be attending together.

“You stay here, okay? Make yourself comfortable. Do you want some snacks?” he asked.

“No, I’ll be fine. I think they’re calling you already,” she whispered.

The first part of the show was mainly about the solo artists. Their experiences, their feelings, and things about their personal lives were shared. And the second part was intended for the groups.

The main topic of their part was Chun’s proposal to Ella.

“We all know that your company doesn’t allow their artists to fall in love with each other, right?” Chun nodded as a reply.

The host looked at his cue card and continued, “Then what would you do if Ella’s job would be taken away from her because of this confrontation?”

Chun thought about his answer for a while. He looked at Ella who was eager to hear his answer. The three other boys whispered something to each other. “What is he planning to do now?” Arron thought.

“Ella? Uh, she can still work for me,” his brief answer.

All the people in the set were confused by his answer. Even Ella had the ‘what are you trying to say’ face. Chun didn’t get a response from the host. That’s why he continued his sentence with, “She can work as my personal assistant.”

“WHAT?” the female host reacted.

There were murmurs around the place. The staffs were all curious about his words.

“Yes, she can work as my personal assistant. As my personal assistant, she has to go with me during our practices and other events of Fahrenheit.”

“Then what will she be doing there, brother?” Arron couldn’t help but laugh at the oldest member of the group.

“Simple. She just needs to stay there so I can stare at her. You know, my source of inspiration,” and he winked at his girl, making her laugh without manners. Typical Ella laugh.

The female host almost rolled around the set because of Chun’s sweetness. The other artists were all high because of Chun’s straightforward explanation.

“May we invite Ella over?” the host asked. Ella was just in her jeans and blouse without any cosmetics on. But still, she was able to be at her best. She was blooming, period.

“So, what can you say to your boyfriend?”

She looked at him, from his eyes down to his lips; his lips that were once against hers. Ella placed her hand on his cheeks and playfully pinched him.

“He’s just too sweet to be ignored. I’m happy to have him, really. And if there will come a time that I need to give up my career because of him, I would not have second thoughts on quitting my job as a singer. I’ll be a full-time housewife to him.”

Chun replied to her sweet statement with, “I promise to be a hardworking husband. I will never let a single drop of sweat come out of her body. I will never force her to be the best wife. I’m happy with what I have right now. I’m happy to have this jolly and playful Ella with me.”

Ella rested on his shoulder and closed her eyes. Seconds after, she felt crystals of salty substance run down her face. Chun noticed it and wiped off the tears for her. He lifted her head and whispered, “If you’re thinking that I was lying before,” he paused. He was referring to his sweet line. “Well, you’re wrong. I’ll take care of you forever, Chen Jia Hua…”
