Vampires are always seen as having no heart or feel no mercy for the lives of humans.  This is very far from the truth.  They do feel emotions.  No emotion is too human for the undead to feel..Some just show it differently than others.  Vampires feel pain, lust, and love....more importantly they know betrayal.  This story tells of betrayal from a trusted fellow vampire and the pains of a curse bestowed upon two girls.  The 'Touch' some say....has away of ruining all that one holds dear. 

The Vampires

Kim Kibum (Allen) – Born from a rich Korean Vampire family that lived in one of the bigger populated area at the time.  His whole family perished (including his older brother HyungJoon) in a fire set by the village after the farmer’s daughter was found dead.  The  villagers suspected vampires; and who to better to accuse than the Kims?  After all they never got old and were rarely seen eating, or even heading near the light.  Several years after Kibum left Korea, he headed to Europe.  There he met the McKnight sisters.  He married the eldest, Lauralie, and moved his new wife and her sister back to Korea.  There the family stayed mostly in the house.  Kibum was the only one that went out, mainly because he knew the language and understood the people.  The family moved around a lot.  Eventually they settled in a new town, once adjusted to the new life in the house Kibum befriend a young boy named, Kevin. (Stopped physically age at 18)  -Kibum can communicate with other people through mental connections-

 

 

The McKnight Sisters:

The sisters were born in Portugal (Lauralie) and Spain (Cherie).   Their mother was a gorgeous vampire from Spain while their father was a nobleman from Ireland.  The girls’ family line can be traced all the way back to the first of the vampires.   

                Lauralie – The eldest sister that marries Kibum after becoming 14 (the legal age that a vampire can marry without the consent of the family Elder); Lauralie was reluctant to move away after her marriage.  She did not wish to leave her younger sister.  The younger girl was the only thing that she cared about besides Kibum and the girls’ dear cousin Alexander.  The young bride fought with Kibum until he gave in to letting his wife’s sister join them on their journey.  Lauralie didn’t have any gifts like the other vampires she knew.  This made her feel less important.  She acted out like a child whenever her sister was praised or someone commented on her inability to fascinate humans or other vampires.  Lauralie hated herself.  She longed to be different.  When Kibum came along he made her feel special.  Though beautiful and charming, Kibum was sly, and cocky.  Her parents refused to allow their marriage.  Lauralie patiently waited for her 14th birthday to arrive and when it did she dressed in her beautiful white dress, dragged her baby sister with her to the church, and married the man of her dreams.  The new bride her adventures with her husband and sister, but after years she longed to settle down and start a family.  She got her wish.  She never thought that one stop in a Korean town after so many years would end up changing everyone’s lives.   (Stopped physically aging at 16)

                Cherie – The daughter that her parents thought would live.  After her older sister was born, their parents tried several times to have more children.  The ending result was the same each time, Senora Celine would miscarry.  However, Senora carried Cherie to full term.  Cherie was a weak baby; she appeared to long and pale with no meat on her bones.  Her parents feared for the worse as the infant’s condition worsened, but one day Cherie grew healthier.  Eventually she was well.  Cherie never let her weak past get her down.  Instead she concentrated on the ones around her; always trying to please them and make no enemies.  She cared the most for her sister even when the older girl yelled at her for being ‘special’.  Cherie never liked her gift.  She hated even.  All it did was bring her grief or annoyance.  So she rebelled against it.  She didn’t need to control people’s bodies anyway.  When Kibum came to Europe, Cherie noticed a change in her sister.  The other girl was more alive, freer.  All the darkness that had loomed over her had been lifted.  Even though he had managed to heal her sister in ways she could not, Cherie did not like this Kibum and growled in frustration when Lauralie made her come to their wedding.  Cherie refused to leave with Kibum and Lauralie after their wedding, but the thirteen year old could not continue to say no to her dear sister.   Dongho came into her life the first night they had arrived in Korea.  The hunger had hit her so strongly that night.  Her made was slowing down and she needed to have her first real bite.  Dongho was it.  Hurting the boy had caused her so much grief that in a blind hurry she turned him.  Dongho did not hate Cherie for taking his human life.  He saw it as a gift from the woman he would stand by for the rest of his life.            Alexander Lee Eusebio – The McKnight’s cousin.  Alexander lives in the mountains of Korea in a large mansion.  He is a light, friendly soul and always greets people whenever he passes by them in the street.  Alexander keeps in touch with his dear, little cousins and cares for no one more than them.  When Lauralie suddenly marries he is just as surprised as everyone else.  Against what both girls tell them in their letters, he chooses to only judge Kibum after he meets the young man.   Alexander is the family’s historian; he also keeps tales of other families and legends long forgotten by vampires and humans.  (Stopped physically aging at the age of 21)

 

 

         SeungHyun – Alexander’s trusty butler; he is a shy individual that only comes when he is called.  He is always happy to see the girls when they visit, but is frightened by Kibum.  Something about the older man scares him. (Stopped physically aging at 16)

 

 

Adopted boys (Cherie’s Sons) –

Dongho (15) – 

 

Dongho was out in the woods on the night that Cherie bit him.  After he turned he couldn’t figure out why his creator was crying.  He asked her why she was so miserable.  Her response was that she had taken his young life and replaced it with a cursed one that she didn’t wish upon any human.  Dongho told her it was the greatest gift she could have given him.  Cherie had saved him from his abusive mother.  He would look to her as a new one.  Dongho is very protective over Cherie and will attack anyone he sees fit. ~Hair turns red as a sign of his abuse in his human life~ [Time of change: 1556]

 

Kiseop (18) -

 

Kiseop was a boy poor on the street.  After being injured in an accident that killed hundreds of people, he stumbled across the path of Cherie and her family.  Dongho went to finish him as to end his misery, but Kibum told the boy to just let Kiseop die.  The vampire said there was no need to dirty one’s hands with the blood of poor folk.  Cherie ignored her brother-in-law’s harsh words and saved Kiseop.  Kiseop was grateful to Cherie for bringing him of the edge of death.  Her repaid her with his loyalty and the love as a son like Dongho had.  Kiseop never forgot Kibum’s words. [1773]

ByungHun (16) -  

ByungHun was a lonely kid.  The kids in the neighborhood made fun of him.  His parents were always gone; he felt like no one in the world cared about him. One day he was washing by the river when he saw three figures standing safely in the shadows of the thick trees just on the other side of the river bank.  Feeling courage rise within him, he called out in greeting.  A young girl turned to face him.  ByungHun was amazed by her flawless beauty and almost got swept away by the current.  The girl giggled at his distress and waved back.  Every day after that ByungHun would go down to the river and spend time with the strange trio.  He didn’t know what they were but they weren’t human.  All of it was confusing but intriguing to him.  He asked Cherie what she really was one night as the two strolled down the river.  The girl had happen reluctant but she told ByungHun.  After that ByungHun demanded she change him.  He was tired of his life and he wanted to be with her and her family.  ~hair turned blond as a sign of innocence~ [1850]

Minwoo (15) - 

Life in Korea was starting to get harder.  Minwoo’s family was beginning to struggle to survive.  His parents and siblings were killed in a shooting in town.  Minwoo hide for days without food or water.  Just before death was ready to snatch him an Angel (as he likes to call her) came down from heaven and gave him the kiss of life.  When Minwoo opened his eyes he saw things in a whole new way.  He had no clear memory of the life he lived before.  So he called Cherie mother since she was the closest thing he would ever have to having one again.  Minwoo likes to stay close to Cherie and often sleeps in her chambers.  He says it keeps his nightmares away.  [1947]

JaeHyo (20) - 

 

Cherie found JaeHyo in a male brothel as she searched Korea.  At first JaeHyo just wanted to get money from her, but after sobering up he realized she had rescued him from danger the night before.  Feeling in great debt to her he offered her anything she wanted.  She made a comment about her boys.  JaeHyo was taken back.  Cherie had the physical appearance of a fifteen year old.  How could she have these children of which she spoke? Yes women got married early, but know had young teenage boys.  Plus Cherie was European and all of her boys were full blood Korean.  JaeHyo looked the group over closely.  Cherie eventually told him the truth, but her sons did need and older brother to look up to.  The oldest was eighteen and hadn’t learned the ways of the world like JaeHyo did.  JaeHyo agreed to Cherie’s offer.  His first kills were the men that trapped him in the life of the e.  JaeHyo grew to love his new brothers and adores his new mother. [1954]

 

The 'Touched'

 

The ‘Touch’ is a cursed that has been in the tales of vampire families for many years.  Either male or female bestowed with the ‘Touch’ has five people his/her heart must belong to.  The ‘Touch does not discriminate against marriage or love.  If one loves someone that does not share the same mark as the ‘Touch’ he or she will witness the horrible death of their loved one as soon as any, deep physical passion has been made.  If one refuses to fulfill the demands of the curse pain and misery will follow.  Death, death, and more horrible death…
