Open Your Eyes
Description
He has lived all his life alone. Going through primary school, he was often teased and ridiculed by his classmates for his helpless disability. He always felt the eyes of others digging into him as they watched him maneuver clumsily. He began to completely ignore others, believing there was nothing impressive in life—entirely nothing to admire or be in awe about. He thought he lacked the knowledge and images to see.
Then, fate brought him to her. She showed him life through her eyes. She showed him how to open his eyes.
Foreword
“People only see what they are prepared to see.”
A normal Sunday afternoon brings together two strangers. One who can see and one who cannot. Neither are prepared for what will happen next, but both know nothing will ever be the same again.
“Sometimes, a strong imagination is far more powerful than a perfect vision.”
Type: Oneshot
Word Count: 3000+
Characters:
Choi Minho: An ignorant man. It’s simple as that. Born into the world as a blind man, he has never seen the sun, nor a flower or the blue sky. He’s a bitter man and now in his early 20s, continues to live a lonely life. His unexpected encounter with this strange girl forces him to rethink how he has lived all these past years.
Im Yoona: The typical college student. Her clever but somewhat unusual mind makes her seem like an outcast to her peers. Usually not accepted well, she finds herself oddly obligated to this young man who has never seen the color of grass.
Dedication: This one-shot is solely dedicated to my dearest online mother, Nemo. There are so many reasons as to why I should dedicate this short story to you. Of course, some of which include those that you told me to never speak of again. However, I shall say those that I am allowed to share. You began as my talking partner, Nemo. Then that one day came where you posted the lovely poem of yours and I innocently guessed what it meant. To my extreme luck, I received a one-shot that you wrote especially for me. Our friendship grew from then. You’ve watched over me like a true mother, telling me to always eat healthy meals and sleep well. Now before I write a novel here, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for well… Absolutely everything. Those two little words cannot even make up for how much I owe you, admire you, adore you… I hope I didn’t write this one too terribly. Please enjoy reading. Your opinion matters the most for this one.<3
A/N: This one-shot is actually written for a little contest that a bright unnie is holding for her original fic. I chose premise 7 and my quote is, “Admiration is the daughter of ignorance.”~ Benjamin Franklin. I will explain how I interpreted the saying at the end of the one-shot because it will likely make the most sense then. Please check out her story and support her. This is not so much a romantic one-shot. It’s more of a moral, inspiration type of story. Just one that I hope will touch your heart. Enjoy.
*EDIT: This is a repost. I had originally submitted this oneshot to a contest outside of AFF, so I had to take it down for awhile. The contest is over now and I hope you will all give me the same support as last time. Thank you!
