BecauseShe smiled at him, radiant as the sun that shone on their wedding day. He paused before he lifted her veil from her face, his breath hitching in his throat as he took her face in between his hands. He leaned in slowly, then smiled into her eyes. "Have you got anyone you're dumb for?"
His smile grew wider at her familiar question, and shook his head. "Not at all. But I do have someone I'm dumb with. And," he added before swiping a thumb over her soft lips. "She's the smartest decision I've made all my life."
Her laughter was quietened by the press of his lips against hers, a sigh escaping her as he drew her closer. They didn't know how long they stayed like that, kissing in front of all their families and friends, but what mattered was just the two of them. Both hopelessly in love with the other, a love that took years to form. But they liked it like that, knowing that they had each other for the rest of their lives.
And they were satisfied.
