Summary: There are two ways unrequited love ends rarely in happiness and more often times than not in tragedy. Which side of the coin will Sungjong get?

“Idiots,” Sungjong repeated glaring at the couple at his doorstep, one of which was his older brother.

“Wow, that’s open,” L spoke softly taking odd view. Sungjong turned to his friend sitting at the low coffee table hesitantly. Nervously he asked, “Do you have a problem with that?”

“Nahhh,” L shrugged it didn’t affect him much.

“Really?” Sungjong asked again, a bit shell shocked.

“Yea, I’ve been your friend for way too long to let your brother making out in front of your house to bother me. It’s nothing compared to finding out you’re a shape shifter,” L replied, probably speaking the most he’d ever spoken in ages. L was odd that way when you were close to him hearing his voice was commonplace if you weren’t a whisper shocked you, Sungjong was among the first group.

Is that because you aren’t bothered by guy’s dating or because it doesn’t affect you? Sungjong wondered dangerously. His thoughts had been leaning more and more that way lately, in the past year. Why do you think Sungjong was so quick to push Woohyun towards his brother? It partly out of brotherly love and partly out of selfish thoughts since he fought similar yet more complicated feelings and didn’t have time to deal with a moping elder brother. Their problem was small anyway any blind person that looked at them could see they liked each other, it was either up to Sungjong to save them from themselves or let them die. For a moment Sungjong just stood there thinking, pondering, when it all changed when friendship turned crushed became puppy love that eventually turned into obviously unrequited love. L never showed interest in people of opposite or same-gender that way, not that Sungjong ever saw anyways. Quickly Sungjong moved to sit next to L and finish off their project. They chatted silently about how their teacher was an idiot until three stomping noises turned their view upwards.

Finally, Woohyun and Sungyeol had broken their lip lock long enough to get inside. Stumbling backwards through the door wasn’t embarrassing enough no they had to stumble through the door backwards with their hair and clothes disheveled. At that moment Sungjong literally felt like he could rip out his brother’s throat until the vibrating chuckles next to him were loud enough to his ears to pick up. Sungjong’s line of vision dropped for a second to see L holding back his laughing.

“Hey!” Myungsoo shouted at the two causing them to turn.

“I’m studying hyungs so don’t to too loud okay?” Myungsoo’s implication was clear enough to make them walk somewhat-civilly to Sungyeol’s room without an incident.

“Omo,” Sungjong’s giggles popped out one after another, uncontrolly.

“Wae?” Myungsoo replied innocently while throwing his arm lazily over Sungjong’s shoulder. That touch was enough to silence Sungjong whose heart was beating painfully in his chest. That’s what was irritating to Sungjong about unrequited love it had gone so far past the field of puppy love where love is innocent, brash and loud into the field where it hurt and mocked you. There are two ways unrequited love ends rarely in happiness and more often times than not in tragedy.  He just sighed and leaned out of his friend’s grasp.

What if I told you I liked you?  He mused, full of aggravation.  L’s sharp eyes analyzed him, seeing through his layers of protection, the he dropped his arm. Quietly, L went back to work and they continued like before only now there wasn’t any physical contact between the two. That small amount of misplaced irritated bothered L in an odd way, however, he pushed it out of mind. Meanwhile, Sungjong’s irritation only built up in his stomach. Sungjong internally growled, If you’re so intuitive why can’t you tell I like you?!

“Bye and sorry,” L left while apologizing thirty-two minutes later. Sungjong frowned when the door closed he was ashamed of his behavior and that Myungsoo let him get away with it. He climbed the stairway and passed out on his twin sized bed without changing out of his clothes. His last thoughts were I wish I could get over L. A light feathery feeling came on to him after he thought that then he promptly dreamt of nothing.

A series of heavy thumps woke Sungjong out of his slumber. Covered in mist was a well-tone guy with only a towel covering his privates walked right pass Sungjong’s eyes. Turning over, he pulled the pillow over his head upon after that his blanket before giving up.

“Thanks Hoya for waking me up,” the dongsaeng of the family groaned and stalked into the kitchen.

“No problem,” he flashed a toothy-grin. Sungjong glared for a moment before asking, “Where are you going?”

“Cutting my hair then out,” he replied smoothly.

“Oh yea, you’re engaged,” Sungjong said gently.

“Yup. First son and all,” Hoya tapped Sungjong’s back comforting before continuing, “you should get a haircut too.”

Sungjong’s dark brown locks were passing his cheeks and curling at his neck. Picking up a strand, he began to shake his head no, but suddenly the words from last night appeared in his head.

“Yea…actually can I dye my hair?” Sungjong pouted which was twice as cute as a puppy pout since he was literally part puppy.

“Fine with me,” Hoya dragged the bouncing boy out the door.

His head stung a bit from the bleach they had to use to turn it blond but he felt great. A new look and his determination to tell L off made him unusually excited it might sound cliché but it was true. When he walked there was a bouncing motion in his step then he crashed into a body.

“Sorry,” Sungjong quickly stood up and bowed. Chuckles low and familiar rang into his ears.

“Its fine Jongie,” L smirked tugging on a strand of his newly paled hair. “What’s up with the new hair did someone reject your confession?”

“No, but they are about to,” Sungjong took a deep breath and blow out, “I loved you, L. I know you don’t like me that way but I do, I did. You probably think that’s weird so let’s not talk until I get over everything okay?”

Just like he started Sungjong ran off or at least he started to.  He started to as in L immediately grabbed his arm before he got far.

“What?” Sungjong cried out with his voice cracking.

“You just confessed to me and you won’t listen to my answer?” Myungsoo pointedly stated.

“What are you going to say?! Huh?! That you love me too! That you’ve always loved me?! Or that you realized you loved me the moment I told you?!” Sungjong spat out with tears streaming down his cheek. His resolve to say everything was already shaky, however, he never thought that L would confront him.

“No, but I do like you enough to try and see where this goes,” L answered honestly infuriating Sungjong even more.

“Try?! Try?! You aren’t suppose to try! You know I “tried” to pretend like I was okay and that I didn’t care when you were near me but all that trying only made me bipolar and depressed. Listen to me right I’m shouting like a girl…”

Sungjong shut his mouth when L’s index finger was pressed against it the shape of a “shh” sign. Gently and calming speaking he said, “Let me phrase my words. Let’s take a chance and date. So yes I’ll love to date you, Sungjong. Happy princess?”

“No,” he hiccupped as L wiped the tears from his face. Rolling his eyes, L signaled with his other hand “what is it now?”

“I am NOT a princess,” he scowled which deserved another round of chuckles from L.

“Fine, Mr. Kim Lee Sungjong, are you happy now?” Myungsoo tenderly brushed away the last of the tears and places a very gentle kiss on his forehead.
