Beyond our Strengths

Description

Hey everyone! This is my first story on Asian Fanfics, and the main pairing is Im Yoon-ah (YoonA of SNSD) and Lee Jong-hyun of CNBLUE. This is a random pairing I've come across with no.chemistry.whatsoever.  but they somehow caught my attention, so I'm writing a story. Heh.

Right now I am having a battle with figuring out this… tag thing. Um. It isn't letting me put more than one tag… is that normal? :3

I apologise if the summary is a little weird and if it doesn't make any sense. I seriously can't be bothered right now.

So this is the promised Lee Jong-hyun (CNBLUE) * Im Yoon-ah (SNSD) AFF debut story of mine! Huh, there's not much to say than I hope anyone else who enjoys this strange pairing will like the story!

-dreamless cherry clover :)

P.S.: Yes, I possibly will be adding a poster later on in the story. If anyone feels like creating one for me... well feel free! :D

In the days of Ancient Korea, magic was considered a norm. In fact, failure to utilize magic was considered abnormal, and those Drained were known as Fiends, shunned from villages and they had to live as nomadic tribes, being outcast from regular citizens.

And thus, there were three basic classes; the ordinary citizens Saram (literally people), the rich officials and such known as Puja (literally rich), and the Drained nomad tribes, the Agma (literally fiend).

Legends has it that the famous prophetess Seo Joo Hyun - whose skill was one of a kind and said only to be born to one in a billion  - had eloped with a young chief of a Agma tribe, Jung Yong Hwa. The Jung tribe stormed into the City by Han River, the capital of Han Guk, believing that the young Prophetess had cast a vile and sinister love charm on their leader, refusing to believe that Yong-hwa could be bewitched by her looks, and the infamous Han Massacre was written into Ancient history.

The Han Massacre supposedly killed every last person in the City by Han River, and the City had indeed been reduced to charred rubble because of a fire, and this said fire was known as the Killing Wind, and historians record the fire as 'unstoppable' due to the harsh winds from the deserts up north. People from the nearby villages slowly dared to approach the fallen Capital and started rebuilding…

Five millenniums have passed since Seo Joo-hyun and Jung Yong-hwa's time. Present day prophetess-in-training Im Yoon-ah has been repeatedly witnessing Joo-hyun and Yong-hwa's tragic love story from start to finish  in her dreams. Her father, a prophet before her, denies any truth in her 'visions', laughing them off as teenage wonderings, but her mother, a highly skilled prophetess herself and Yoon-ah's Guardian teacher, fears there is more to Yoon-ah's 'dreams' than just ordinary dreams.

The Lee tribe is a distant relative tribe to the exact Jung tribe Jung Yong-hwa originated from . There, a young man buries his head in martial arts and sword training to make up for his incompetence in magic. This man is said to be a better candidate for the next tribe leader than the named successor, and the Lee tribe is in a current uproar due to that. However, the man, Lee Jong-hyun, has no interest of the position of tribe leader. Jong-hyun wishes not to be tied down in tribal cultures, which he thinks are 'tiring' and 'old-fashioned'. He is discouraged by the fact that he can't use magic, which is something he strongly believes. Jong-hyun has already perfected the martial arts of Judo and Taekwondo, and is easily one of the strongest living non-magic wielders in Han Guk, but he does not believe so.

Characters:

Im Yoon-ah

An aspiring prophetess-in-training and said to become one of those prophets. Those prophets are prophets with the skill of the legendary Seo Joo-hyun, but nowadays those prophets are no longer considered a blessing, but more rather a curse due to the Seo Joo-hyun legend.

Lee Jong-hyun

One of the strongest non-magic wielding human in the country of Han Guk and highly skilled in the arts of Judo and Taekwondo, surpassing even those who have received three times the amount of training. He is best friends and the 'older brother' of the tribe successor Lee Jung-shin. He has developed a hateful prejudice towards the Saram for casting out the Agma, especially those highly trained in magic.

Minor Characters (may serve to be major in future chapters)

Lee Jung-shin

The successor to the Lee Agma tribe by blood, as his father is the current tribe chief.  He is best mates with Jong-hyun and strongly believes that Jong-hyun should succeed the tribe. Jung-shin goofs around a lot as he is not the type to take things seriously.

Seo Joo-hyun

A legendary prophetess who resided in Han Guk five thousand years ago. Eloped with a Agma tribe chief and was never seen again.

Jung Yong-hwa

Said to be the strongest non-magic wielder in the history of Han Guk, Jung Yong-hwa was the chief of the famous Jung tribe five thousand years ago. Eloped with a prophetess of renowned power and was never seen again.

Im Sae-hee (fictional)

Yoon-ah's mother and a powerful prophetess.

Lee Se-rah (fictional)

A retired oracle in the Lee tribe. Dotes on Jong-hyun and Jung-shin as if they were her own children.

Kang Min-hyuk

Saram merchant-in-training who frequents the dangerous Agma tribe lands.
