Statement #1: Choi Minki and Ren is Not One Person:      

   Sometimes Minki wonders if a person can have two personalities living inside their brain, arguing with each other at the same time. The answer, clearly, is yes; since Minki himself has two opposing sides.

   The first one is the person named Choi Minki – the warm, bubbly boy who is so much of a friendly person; but yet acts shy and insecure around strangers. Choi Minki loves the beauty surrounding his world and seems to see everything through too much of a positive side. Choi Minki likes to socialize and Choi Minki likes Kang Dongho. The feeling that the little boy gets whenever the blond Mohawk is around is undeniable; and it’s so strong that the only thing he can hear when the older is around is the sound of his own fragile heart thumping like crazy. On these kinds of occasions the shy feminine boy will normally turn away from the happy-go-lucky doofus hyung of his, trying to hide hues of pink that slowly creeps over his milky white cheeks. Unfortunately, this side of him barely reveals, because he wants to keep the little secret to himself. Acting feminine in front of the fans is enough; Minki doesn’t want people to look at him as an unusual person. So instead of being Choi Minki, he lets Ren out.

   Basically, Ren is Ren. Simply the hottie blonde named Ren from the hottie boy band NU’EST. This side of him is stuck in the dark of deep silence, acting cold and sometimes rude – which not only helps him to win the fangirls’ hearts but also hides away his true feelings. Shoo, said Ren to the insecure Choi Minki as he pushed another half of himself into a tiny corner. His entire universe is surrounded by the walls of the practice room, the studio, the stages and his dorm. Ren wants nothing but to reach the top, and he makes sure that nothing is going to stand in his way there. Even Dongho, or Baekho as he likes to be called by. Everytime Choi Minki’s heart flutters at the sight of the main singer, Ren will just flick his forehead and tell him to cut it off as the Ren goes somewhere to talk with someone else. Still, Choi Minki with his passionate love is always getting his way to make Ren turn around and peek at the laughing doofus, causing the cold side to blush slightly. And as usual, after mentally slapping the other side of his, Ren will casually have a chat with Aaron, or Jonghyun, or Minhyun. But it will never be Dongho.

   Sometimes Minki thinks he will go crazy, and Ren stands there nodding, with his arms folded in front of his chest. They need to sort things out, but how?

Statement #2: Kang Dongho is A Doofus:

   Jonghyun often states that fact; and Aaron and Minhyun cannot agree more with the leader. Kang Dongho is a cheerful doofus.

   I mean, says Jonghyun as the others nod in agreement again and again. Have you ever seen that guy being upset? Or even just acting casual?

   He is always smiling. He smiles when he is happy. He smiles when he is sad. Even when he feels normal, he will go and find something to smile at. That may be cute to blind fangirls. To the members, it is just creepy when they wake up in the morning and saw Dongho looking at them with a smile widening on his face. After freaking all of them out, Dongho will trudge back into his bed and continue with his sleep. As he said in interviews, he is not the type of a morning person. He is more of a stupid person, Minhyun chips in as Aaron gives him a thumbs-up sign and Jonghyun mouthed, Nice job.

   Just by looking at his grinning face the first time they met, the members knew that they won’t find anyone who can beat Dongho at the field of stupidity. Even though he trips himself on the floor or accidentally hit any other members with his chair during dance practices; Dongho, with less pride than a Yorkshire puppy, will just grin and say sorry, sometimes adding an annoying excuse. I didn’t trip, I was just testing gravity and it still works, he said as he crawled on his arms and legs to stand up from the fall. The chair doesn’t like me, you gained its attention, he pouted in a failed attempt of being cute while the other members was gathering around the nearly unconcious Minhyun. Usually Jonghyun will give him a kick which he can easily dodge; Aaron will say something in English in complaint about his dongsaengs and Minhyun, after reviving from the accidents, will grab his chair and chase Dongho around the practice room. As Dongho clutches onto the maknae’s sleeve and begs for help, the latter will leave him there with the crazy Minhyun and step away with his frustrated look, seeming like fighting two opposite feelings. Then Jonghyun will elbow Aaron and wiggle his eyebrows in a kind of told-you-so way, and the two will burst up with laughter.

   Dongho loves to have skinships with other people, in a specific way, with the maknae. He pecks the other’s cheek and runs away happily as the maknae begins to throw things at him. He piggy-backs the other from the elevator to their dorm, despite the younger’s desperate attempt to get down. He holds the other’s hand in public. He searches for the term ‘BaekRen’ on the Internet. Kang Dongho is obsessed with his little brother, or in another way, the Princess of the NU’EST kingdom.

   Everyone notices that fact, except for Dongho’s victim – Choi Minki aka Ren.

Statement #3: Dongho is Jealous with Aaron:

   The dance practice is dismissed and Dongho begins to jump around like an excited squirrel. Jonghyun lets his jacket find its way to the bench, while he himself sat down, his back facing the mirrors, and plays with his phone. A few seconds later, Minhyun’s phone vibrates, and he takes it out to see a message from the leader:

Hey, did he take any kind of drugs last night? He seems to be overdosed.

   Jonghyun is looking at his bandmate for seconds waiting for the answer; but the latter just shrugs casually and starts his chat with the choreographer hyung. The leader sighs and leans against the mirror, plugging his earphones in. Screw Dongho, he mumbles to himself, closes his eyes and soon drifts into his sleep.

   Minhyun begins to tap on the floor randomly, mumbling a melody in silence.

   Minki rests his head on the back of the chair, looking at Aaron. His hyungnim smirks amusedly and begins to stare him back in his eyes as if he is challenging the maknae to keep his eyes open as long as he can. Minki pouts and adjusts his headband before staring Aaron back. They sit there in silence, staring each other out of the tiredness and sleepiness.

   Dongho continues to pursue his effort of freaking people out, and this time the victim is manager hyung. The poor latter’s arm is not free anymore, since Dongho is clinging onto it while being dragged all over the place urging that his strong demand for meat needs fulfilling so badly.

   Aaron is quite a calm, silent man. A part of it is because he is not that good at Korean, and he finds himself awkward when people around him keep chatting when he, sometimes, can barely get to know the meaning of their sentences. But when he is calm it doesn’t mean he is weak. This eye battle is surely where his other talents in communication are showed; and the charismatic hyungnim doesn’t even seem to be bothered while the maknae’s brown, innocent eyes are getting red and teary already. Minki clings onto the chair, his hands trembling; and it is just a matter of seconds later when he starts to bend down and blink non-stop. It even looks like he is crying.

   That is when Dongho stops fooling around and Aaron stands up. They both head to Minki, but of course the older is faster. Dongho stands there and watches when his hyung pokes Minki’s cheek and the maknae tackles him, his hands ready to tickle someone’s guts out. The two keep on fooling around with each other until Minki stumbles over Aaron’s foot and falls on top of the latter. To tell the truth, he is all over his hyung.

   Minhyun whistles and goes to wake Jonghyun up. He doesn’t want to watch such a drama like that without a companion.

   Aaron helps Minki stand up, even ruffles the maknae’s gorgeous blonde hair after things are done. The latter glares at him warningly, but there is still a ghost of a smile gliding through his lips. They both know that they can never be mad at each other; closest siblings never do such thing.

   Dongho is the only one who seems to be different. On the outside, he stands there dumbfounded. On the inside, he is already fuming with anger; mentally choking his hyung in his imagination. Mumbling something about getting a drink, he quickly leaves the room, not forgetting to bump into Aaron’s shoulder really hard on total purpose.

   Aaron tilts his head in confusion. What was that for?

   Jonghyun and Minhyun try to hide their amusement, but fail as they are brought down to the floor laughing like crazy. NU’EST is changing, from a boyband to a mad house.

   Ren and Choi Minki are having a little private conversation about "how things should be done, not messed up" (Ren’s statement) and "you don’t know it until it’s done, I was just having a nice little eye battle" (Choi Minki’s statement). After a lengthy discussion and the careless Ren starts to lose control of himself; Choi Minki, of course, takes advantage and manages to get himself out of the room, ignoring Ren’s non-stop demands that they should just go back and forget all about this. After all, Ren thinks that a doofus like Dongho can never be mad for more than half an hour. He will be desperate for skinships and willingly find his way to the other person, choking him with a hug or somewhat like that.

   That is when someone comes there behind his back. Choi Minki (physically) and Ren (mentally) both squeak before they realize it is Dongho, the almighty doofus. His face is not in its normal state; and he seems to be struggling with his different emotions. Complex ones.

   Hyung, says Minki as he reaches his hand out and waves at the Mohawk. Are you feeling okay?

   You never get it, don’t you? Even when things are way too obvious? Asks Dongho with a smirk on his face.

   What do you mean? The younger puffs his cheeks; but receives no answer from his hyung. The latter lifts his feet of the ground and stares at his features for a few seconds before pulling him in closer.

   Ren faints as soon as he understands the situation. Choi Minki is left there alone with Dongho, unsure of how to react. The only thing he thinks about was, Hyung is going to kiss me.

   Suddenly, he is returned to the ground. Go back to the practice room, Dongho orders before disappearing behing a corner. Minki is a bit disappointed, but still makes his way back to the practice room, where he hears Jonghyun saying something, but Minhyun’s giggles keep on interrupting the leader’s words.

   Hyungnim, Dongho is jealous with you. The leader states, and Aaron smirks.

   I know it already; I just want to get his nerves on. The older replies back in Korean without any difficulties. Then Minki hears shuffling of feet on the ground, and figures out that maybe Jonghyun is back to his place in the room for a sleep. Minhyun is still giggling; and a thud is heard, along with Aaron’s voice telling him to stop fooling around. The older’s order, as usual, doesn’t even make his dongsaeng feel guilty. Minhyun starts to sing in an annoying tone, and the heat coming towards the eavesdropping Minki is getting more and more intense.

   Aaron and Minki are sitting down a tree; K-I-S-S-I-N-G.

   But then Baek is jelly and mad at Aaron, oh dear, what will this become?

Conclusion: Admit It, We are in Love:

   Choi Minki and Ren both agree that there is at least something they have in common, although this is not counted as a normal hobby. It’s just something to keep them safe, and sometimes, fit, because taking stairs to the dorm can be quite exhausting.

   But once they walk on foot, some rules need obeying. The part in the middle of the stairs that is gravelled in a different color, and they never let themselves leave that part, never ever. Minki has the feeling that if he just sticks a toe out of the purple-colored path, something will grab him and maybe, eat him alive. Ren, hearing Minki’s fear, just shrugs casually because a strong man knows how to handle monsters, but he admits that something scary might happen in the two lines outside the safe path, and it’s better for them to stay right in the middle. Just in case.

   Ironically, the stable principal has been broken by Kang Dongho. He appears in the middle of nowhere and pins the maknae against the wall, firmly but yet still caringly. Ren shows his unreadable poker face out, but one part of him inside is chorusing Minki with panicking screams. Not wanting to handle Dongho alone, Ren losens his control and let a half of Minki takes advantage, so they end up controlling the body together. Minki starts to blush at the sight of Dongho, and Ren just wants to choke himself to death. But there is something in Dongho’s eyes that makes the cold half feel safe, even though he is now pushed away from the limit. Those brown, loving eyes of him, and the way he stares at Minki and Ren passionately… And the way he bites his lips when he wants to say something…

   See, you like him too, Minki chirps in and Ren is startled.

   What? He shouts, not only at Minki but also at the world outside. Dongho looks at him questioningly, but Minki pushes Ren ahead and locks the older’s lips in a moment of silence. Ren wants to break out of the kiss, but as his legs go soften and Dongho wraps his arms around the younger’s waist; the feelings of Minki starts to become mutual for the two. Ren closes his eyes slowly, enjoying the kiss with the squealing Minki when…

   Argh, they are kissing! Someone shouts from above, and Dongho looks up to see the three troublemakers leaning against the banisters in front of their dorm, mischievous smiles flashing on their lips. Suddenly, he grabs the maknae’s slender hand, which is now hot and sweaty at the thought of being caught by the others.

   Nice job, dongsaeng, Aaron smirks, and Dongho, who realizes the circumstances that his hyung put him through, grins at the older triumphantly. Jonghyun blows Dongho a lovey-dovey kiss, and the latter laughs before dragging the maknae upstairs.

   Guys, I present you my lover, Dongho annouces proudly as the three are clapping and cheering. Minki feels the color of red coming to his cheeks again, but Ren slaps it away almost immediately. As Dongho walks towards them, Ren hisses telling him that a kiss is enough for a day. Minki is surprised, Ren finally admits that he likes Dongho. When the others were still teasing Dongho about what a cold lover he has; Ren opens the door and steps in the bedroom. He lies down on the bed, and Minki pokes his cheek playfully.

   Admit it, we are in love with the same person, the bubbly boy giggles.

   So what? Ren shrugs casually, but the fluttered look on his face tells a different thing.

   It’s high time we learnt how to control this mind together, Minki says and taps on his forehead, but Ren doesn’t answer. The cold side is busily thinking about the way Dongho’s lips taste, and the way the older looks at him lovingly; hoping that Minki and him chose the right thing when openly confessing to the older like that.

   Yeah, yeah we did. Minki grins proudly, but then when Dongho steps in, they decide to pretend to be asleep. Dongho, at the sight of his sleeping beauty, kisses Minki and Ren’s forehead before shuffling out of the room.

   Little did the older know, a smile creeps through the younger’s lips when he truly falls asleep at the thought that they, Minki and Ren, will always feel safe around Dongho.
