Description

Seollan has never been satisfied with the traditional role of a woman, but when she disguises herself as a boy to take her crippled father's place in the army, she finds that the world of men is not so easy to navigate either.

Under the rule of King Sejong the Great, the Joseon Dynasty has begun to flourish. However, incursions by the Manchurian barbarians threaten the kingdom's safety. During this time, one young woman seizes the chance to escape the limits of her gender and prove herself in the only way she knows. It will not be easy for her, but she will not be alone, with acquired friends and a supernatural helper by her side every step of the way.

Foreword

I watched both Mulan the Disney movie and also Mulan the Taiwanese drama recently, and that combined with Howon feelings to produce this fic. Well, plus some Sunggyu feelings that creeped their way in rather sneakily.

I changed the main character's name because the Korean translation of Mulan sounds awkward, so I went with something that sounds better and is more reasonable for a Korean name.

Chapter 49: as the story proceeds towards the end, I realize I didn't crave for the right thing needed to be craven for in this fic, that is romance. The focus of the story mainly centers war so it became boring to me in the second half of the story. At times, it felt rushy (esp. towards the end, there were many details that I think could have been addressed but easily passed or barely mentioned at all) but most of the times in the middle of story, it becomes draggy (or so I felt). Though I love Seollan and Hoya's characteristics, both of them and their interaction seem weird in the final chapters. I can't really explain why, and that's purely my opinion.
It was still a fun read till the end. I expected more about the romance part, but overall you did a great job with your wordings and writing style. I love Sunggyu though. I don't know, but his past life and all his interactions with Seollan make me pity him to the fullest. Oh, the way you write felt dry at times, so Seollan's thoughts about Sunggyu (esp. in their last encounter) came off to me as a bit heartless.
All of this is an opinion of mine. I might have sounded rude, but I hope I made my point clear and it was not a hate comment. If I hate it, I wouldn't have read it till the end :)

Chapter 49: this fic of yours deserves lots of attention and subscribers. i got hooked up by your story, although its mulan's story inspired but i can't help but to acknowledge your writing skills, great story, plot, development characters and everything, wish you all the best luck on your upcoming works, fighting!!

Chapter 3: I remember this part clearly; "Father, you can't go!" That was what Mulan said when she didn't want her father to go! I love Mulan story so I decided to give your fic a try even though the fact that a lot is in common quite a bother to me I still put it aside.

But its a relief that you did not copy all the way everything at least the simple things changed a bit. I like that Sunggyu is a fox spirit and granted a human form. Yong Junhyung played the Lord Of the House or something and using his 26 years old body to be shown lol that was funny. And I noticed that the grandmother is not here instead you replaced with a brother, Sungjong. I remember that grandmother is the one who bothers Mulan alot about marriage but here you made mother a nagger. Impressive! Congrats. I can't wait to see the others.

I bet Woohyun/Sungyeol will be Ling or thet burly short guy whose name I can't recall lol. Chien Po? Couldn't be Myungsoo hhahahaha. And of course definitely Howon is the Captain Shang!

Chapter 49: I loove this and I thank my friend who rrcommend me this Hoya fangic. no drama so yeah ! :) I just wish there was a part2 or something sequel one shot of the after wrdding thing of Hoya and Seollan. they're just too cute!

Hello there, a bit late, but I've just finished this, and I'd just like to commend your for such a well-written story! I rarely come across good Hoya fics, he was definitely sigh-worthy in this one! Again, good job! :)
