"I need to confess..." he looked at her with sorrowful eyes

"Confess what?" Yoona had blinked

"I have already enlisted in the army. I leave tomorrow"

She stared at him wanting nothing more than for him to laugh and tell her he was joking. Tell her that he really wasn't going to the army and wouldn't leave her alone for two whole years. But he didn't laugh, he didn't smile, instead he gave her his silver bracelet and kissed her forehead before leaving her alone in the rain. He spent the night at his parent's place instead of their place that he and Yoona shared as a couple. She lay in the double bed by herself and fought her tears.

"So this is what being alone feels like..." she murmured

Her hand wiped the first tear away but after that she couldn't control herself anymore. Her tears poured out and she ended up crying but no one was there to help her...

"Donghae... You said you wouldn't leave me by myself anymore," she cried

She could just imagine his voice all apologetic.

"I'm sorry" he would probably say

Yoona called her one and only best friend, Kwon Yuri. Yuri woke up in an instant when her phone rang, she had fallen asleep reading her book.

"Yuri? It's me, Yoona. Can you come over now?"

"Isn't Donghae there?"

Yoona stayed silent and her voice trembled a little as she gave Yuri a small 'no'. Yuri wondered what she could have possibly done to upset Yoona.

"Yoong did I say something wrong? Look I'll be there in 15 minutes OK?"

"No it's okay. Nevermind. Uh, Donghae just got home, I have to go... See you later!" Yoona lied and hung up

Yuri stared at her phone, completely baffled. It wasn't usual of Yoona to behave so strangely... Something is definitely wrong... She peered out the window and sighed as she saw the heavy rain. She grabbed her coat and yellow umbrella before making her way to Yoona and Donghae's house.

"He's here!" Yoona's eyes lit up when she heard the doorbell ring a few minutes later.

Yoona ran downstairs and eagerly opened the door but her energy was completely sapped out of her when she saw that it was Yuri.

"You've been crying haven't you? Come on, fess up. What did Donghae do to you?" Yuri asked

"He's done nothing to me," Yoona bit her lip

"Oh right so you just usually look all puffy and red-eyed everyday? Invite me inside and talk," Yuri sighed

"Yuri thank you for worrying about me but I don't want to-"

"I have cookies," Yuri handed a bag of Yoona's favourite cookies over

"Come on in!" Yoona accepted the bag and opened the door wide for Yuri

Yuri rolled her eyes as she saw her best friend open the bag and squeal with happiness as she recognised her favourite cookies inside.

"Umma had made some yesterday, I thought you might have wanted them," Yuri smiled

"Thanks so much Yul~!" Yoona grinned

"Now that's the smiling Yoona that I would have normally seen opening the door. What happened between you and Donghae? Did you fight?" Yuri sat down on the couch

"He's entering the army. He didn't even tell me until a few hours ago!" Yoona ate a cookie

"Well he is almost 30..."

"He's only 28!" Yoona bit into another cookie

"Ya slow down, you'll get fat... They were only to cheer you up and make you stop crying and I believe,” Yuri yanked the bag away from Yoona’s hands, “they have already done their job”

 “Oh Yul, why does he have to leave…” Yoona rested her head on her best friend’s shoulder

“It’s the law Yoong… At least you can still see each other when he has his vacations!” Yuri tried to cheer Yoona up

“No… I already calculated the dates. The times he is free from the army for his vacations, I already have booked appointments…”

“Booked appointments? Well then move some around”

“Can’t. They’re all photoshoots or fashion shows overseas”

“Well that’s the price you pay for being so beautiful and for being Korea’s hottest top model!” Yuri laughed

“Well that’s all thanks to a certain fashion photographer who practically dragged me along to her company’s building so that her boss would hire me as a model,” Yoona glared at Yuri

“Oh come on, you love your job and you know it,” Yuri poked Yoona’s cheek

“Sure sure…” Yoona laughed

“Listen Yoong, Donghae is leaving tomorrow right? Well first thing you do when you get up is you call Donghae and talk everything out. Talk about how you are going to make it work and stuff… I have to go now, it’s getting late,” Yuri stood up

“Yuri! Are you crazy?! I can’t call Donghae!” Yoona said in shock

“Um why not?” Yuri put on her boots

“Well… It’s just… I don’t know! It’s late, I can’t think of a reason right now!” Yoona stuck out her tongue

“Such a choding… Well see you next week Yoong!” Yuri waved before leaving

“Wait! Yul! You forgot your umbrella!” Yoona grabbed the yellow object and dashed out to call after Yuri

“Keep it! I have a different one at home!” Yuri yelled

“It’s still raining! You’re going to catch a cold! Take it with you!” Yoona yelled back

“Keep it!” Yuri replied before sprinting away from Yoona’s house

“That stubborn girl…” Yoona muttered as she went back in the house and put the umbrella away

-The Next Morning-

“Aish! I have to call Donghae!” Yoona smacked her forehead as she reached for her phone

There was a new text message… from Donghae.

‘To Yoong:

I will probably be on the plane when you read this but I’ll still send it. When I get back from the army, meet me at the park that I took you to on your birthday OK? I’m sorry I didn’t talk to you about my enlistment earlier but what’s done is done…

From Yoona’

Yoona tossed her phone onto the bed and headed to the bathroom because she didn’t expect a text from Donghae as he said he would be on the plane but to her surprise, he instantly replied.

‘To Yoona:

Thank you Yoongie for not being mad at me <3

I love you

From Donghae’

Yoona typed in ‘I love you’ into her phone but instantly deleted it. Ever since she was little, she was never the type of girl to say ‘I love you’ to anybody. She just found those three words extremely awkward… Instead she replied him with an ‘Ok :)’ and switched off her phone.
