He sat down next to me carefully, almost as if he was afraid of what would happen to the bench with the added weight.

He sighed, arching his back and shoulders with his palms on his knees. With his neck tilted back and his eyes on the cloud that resembled the Mad Hatter, he began the conversation.

“If there’s something bothering you, I’d really be happy if you could confide in me.”

 I looked at him from under the cap that was pulled over my eyes. While he didn’t look back at me I knew he paid attention to my every move.

“So… There’s this guy,” I started hesitantly. He nodded slowly, his eyes still not leaving the Johnny Depp cloud. When I couldn’t find the words to express my feelings, he asked me a question to urge me on.

“Is it Changsun?”

No, it’s you.

Ignoring his question, I continued with a sigh.

“It’s funny, you know, I don’t know what it is exactly I like about him but he’s not selfish, annoying or clingy, like Changsun can be. He’s just…”

I paused, not knowing how to describe the feeling.

“I don’t know what it is about him, man, but I swear to god I like him so much,” I finally said, mentally cursing myself for almost saying ’you’.

He smiled gently and sat back properly onto the bench so that his back was now leaning against the wall with his head against the bricks. I watched his lean legs and clean shoes but looked up to see that his head had lolled over to the side so he was facing me.

He smiled softly before continuing.

“Sometimes, the best part of being in love with someone is when you think you’ve fallen for someone else. Because when all you can see are flaws in the person you’re with now, sooner or later you’ll realise just how much you love those little imperfections.”

He kept on smiling; that perfect little smile adorning his face drove me insane. When I couldn’t take it anymore, I looked back down at my own feet. The shiny part of my Nike that was glistening in the sun didn’t do much to take my mind off his words.

It’s when you say words like that that makes me fall for you even more. I’m not in love with Changsun and I never was. I’m crazily in love with someone else, Park Sanghyun.
