Foreword

When a Centruroides exilicauda scorpion molts, its exoskeleton is nearly white in color, slightly translucent and nearly impossible to spot if not looking.

He called these White Scorpions.

Though its exoskeleton isn't as protective anymore, it doesn't make them any less dangerous. They're still venomous, and can strike in a moment’s notice. The venom is comprised of groups of complex molecules called a neurotoxin, these contain proteins containing 60-70 crossed linked amino acids. When injected the neurotoxin attacks the nerve cells of the victim causing paralysis and death.  These types of scorpions are only one of the few that have a lethal sting. 

She was a white scorpion. Hard to spot if no one’s paying attention; she’s lethal, she’s dangerous; she’s hidden in the dark. But what was it that was so alluring about her? Truth was, she was gorgeous, and in fact, she was well-noticed.

The part of her that was considered ‘white scorpion’ was her true personality. It seemed like every day she’d put on a new façade depending on who she was with. But he wasn’t deceived. Never once was he fooled by her persona, and he could always see straight through to her shadow, the person she really was.

The hard part was getting that first step to actually meet her.

She was a mysterious woman, confusing and complex, hidden away by her hardened scorpion shell.

And only every so often did she come out to play.

He didn’t even know what she did for a living, but ever since he started training with EXO, he saw her everywhere. In every hall, in every room, in all of his space, she was there. It was frustrating to him that he didn’t even know her name; much less what she was doing hanging around in SM Entertainment’s building all the time.

Occasionally he’d get a peek of her laughing and talking with Su Ho, but never once did he hear a bit of their conversation, nor gather the courage to approach and engage her in a conversation of their own. He watched from afar, always.

Would it be fair to say that he got a little jealous when she conversed with everyone except him? He wasn’t even sure if she knew he existed, but oh God did he wish she did. He wished she saw him in a way she didn’t see everyone else, but the fact that she didn’t even talk to him tore that fantasy down in a second.

“Hey buddy!” Luhan called, shuffling his way over to Kris before shoving his hip to the side, checking Kris’s, and causing him to stumble a bit.

“Luhan,” he growled slightly, eyeing the younger boy who sunk down slightly, a mischievous grin on his face.  He followed Kris’s gaze when he turned back, landing on the aforementioned female and Luhan grinned even wider.

“Checking the lady out, huh?” Luhan asked, setting his elbow on the taller man’s shoulder, making it slightly awkward for Luhan. Kris turned his attention back to Luhan before shaking him off his shoulder.   

“Hardly. I’d rather just know her name,” Kris replied, watching the younger male slip from Kris’s shoulder.

“I know her name,” he teased, “but I don’t think I should tell you,” he laughed, skipping away from Kris who merely sighed, frustrated slightly. Maybe he’d just ask Su Ho later.
