The Promise…
Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu were the best of friends since they were in grade school. As time goes by, Gerald realizes that he sees Kim as more than a friend but is afraid to confess his true feelings. Finally gathering up the courage to tell her, he then finds out that his parents have arranged him to attend college in America. Kim is devastated upon his confession although keeps her sadness to herself. Convincing Gerald that they are unable to be together due to the long distance, Gerald leaves for the States. Just before Gerald leaves, a promise is made. A promise that kept him to pursue his career and a promise that he is determined to fulfil. As years go by, each has grown to be a successful entity but neither is happy to their fullest. Both of which are in the search of the same thing; LOVE.
Kim Chiu, a mere individual who constantly sacrifices her own happiness in order to bring joy to everyone else around her. It was one promise that she held onto for many years. The promise that gave her hope that one day, someday, she too will finally have a genuine smile on her face. Till this very day, she still conceals her feelings for her best friend. It would’ve been 16 years since she met him, 9 years and 3 months since the last time she saw him, 7 years and 8 months since she last heard from him and 11 years of loving him. If ever she would see him again, she would run up to his arms and tell him she loves him until she could no longer speak. She would do this only if she wasn’t engaged to marry a man. A man who she thought would suffice as a remedy for her longing heart. She wasn't in love with him. That was clear but she knew his love for her was unquestionable. Little did she know that the man she’s been longing for is coming back to Manila and is desperate to find her. One night, during a masquerade ball; Kim and Gerald once again meet each other. A meeting which may evoke memories from the past…Will their rendezvous be the consolation for all these years being apart? Or will it be the reason why they could never be together?
