"Come on, oppa!" Nayeon giggled as she ran ahead of me. I didn't know where her energy was coming from this early in the morning but I knew mine was from her smile.

"Hurry up, oppa! I thought you were the athletic one!" Nayeon urged and waved her arm towards herself. We had planned to go down to Busan over spring break to see our family and friends again. Problem was, the KTX didn't wait for sleep-ins like us.

"Sorry. Jwaesonghapnida!" She apologized to all the people she bumped in to. Maybe if she didn't have her head turned around to look at me, she wouldn't be so clumsy. I laughed inwardly at the thought.

"Aish, I'm trying to keep my cool, okay?" I grumbled jokingly and Nayeon laughed. I couldn't help but crack a smile at her cute eyesmile.

*There's one of the things I fell for.* I laughed and sped up to grab Nayeon's hand. She squealed in surprise but kept up with my pace nonetheless.

"Phew! We made it!" Nayeon plumped down into the comfortable, cushioned train seat and tried catching her breath. She looked at me sitting across from her and broke out into a contagious laughter.

"Next time, I'm setting my alarm an hour earlier!" I shook my head at her comment and looked out the window as the train started to move.

---

"Oppa, can you hand me the circular sponge? It's time for the dots now!" I was helping Nayeon repaint her room. The walls were painted chocolate brown and colorful dots were to be on top.

"Sure." I nodded and stopped rolling paint onto the wall. I was about to throw Nayeon the sponge but froze in place. She was standing near a window where the blinding sunlight was streaming in, causing Nayeon to glow brighter than any crystal. She stood up straight from pouring paint into the platter and huffed with a satisfied smile. She had her small hands bound into cute fists at her hips as she mentally planned out where to stamp the dots.

"What? Do I have paint on my face?" Nayeon giggled and broke me out of my trance. I shook my head and closed my mouth. It felt awkward that she caught me staring but I quickly pushed the feeling aside.

"Here." I threw her the sponge and sent her a smile which she returned.

A minute later, Nayeon was facing me with the flat cylinder sponge in her hand. Bright orange paint covered the side facing up.

"Oppa? Can you help me with this first one? I'm scared I'll mess up." She pouted and I chuckled at her cuteness, "Araso." I put down my roller and walked over.

Nayeon held the sides while I pinched the top and steadied the bottom. Carefully, we pressed the sponge on the wall and held it there.

Just then, I realized I was pressed up against her back with my arms outstretched on both sides of her head. I swallowed hard and prayed that she wouldn't feel my beating heart through my tank.

"Done! Wah! It's so pretty!" Nayeon stepped back and realized that I was right behind her. She gasped and whirled around. She looked up at me with wide eyes while I held my breath.

*Doogeun. Doogeun. Doogeun.*

"Hoya! I didn't know you were so close!" She punched my shoulder and started laughing. I exhaled and nervously smiled.

---

"Of course he can come along! I haven't seen him in a long time." I regret agreeing.

I couldn't help but feel slightly irritated when Seyong tagged along with us on the camping trip. He was another friend of ours from Busan but it still bothered me that he was going to interrupt our alone time. I couldn't throw a fit in front of Nayeon so I just bit my lip and forced a smile. The displeasure in my voice was so evident that other people might've paused and gave me an uneasy glance but being as naive as she is, Nayeon just smiled and clapped twice.

"I can ask Jinhee if she can come along, too." Nayeon suggested with a smile, "Sorry oppa. She said she had plans." She explained with a frown.

*Oh it's alright. She's your annoying, nasaly friend anyway. It'll just be one less person to bother us.* I thought as I nodded and shrugged.

Nayeon got out of the car as soon as I parked the car. I smiled at her enthusiasm while taking my bags out of the trunk. She ran all over the tranquil campsite with her arms wide open. She shouted in glee and occasionally stooped down to wave to the curious animals.

Soon, we heard another car pull up and we turned our heads. Seyong got out of his sleek black convertible. He sported a light blue, plaid dress-shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and casual white jeans. His dark sunglasses made him look like he just stepped out of a drama instead of someone who was camping with his friends for a couple days. His outfit was no different than mine. That pissed me off. At least I had black jeans on.

"Ohhh! I say Ho! You say Ya! Ho!" Seyong came up to me laughing after he hugged Nayeon, "Ya!" I shouted back as we clapped hands and man-hugged.

"Dude, I haven't seen you in forever! How've you been doing, bro?" He asked me with that smiled of his. Oh his smile. The one that melts girls' hearts but makes me think he's too hyper or something.

"I've been good, man. You?" I lightly punched his shoulder and smiled. The negative feelings and thoughts were washed away as I thought of all the crazy times us three had back in Busan.

*Maybe it won't be so bad.* I was so concentrated on thinking of all the ups to the this trip that I didn't even hear Seyong.

---

Nayeon is caring. Sometimes, a bit too caring.

"Oppa! You're bleeding! What happened?!" Nayeon gasped when she saw that a long gash on Seyong's hand was oozing out droplets of blood.

He winced as she dabbed the wound with a handkerchief, "Yeah, there a sharp edge to a rock and I accidentally brushed my hand past it just now."

Nayeon pouted and looked around for a smooth boulder or log, "Oppa, sit here so I can treat it." She guided him to a large rock with a flat surface.

After she applied oinment on the cut and covered it up with a band-aid, we continued on our hike.

Night fell and we were back at the campsite. We each helped make dinner and wash dishes.

Nayeon was tired so she crashed in her tent early. Seyong and I were still out roasting marshmallows around the warm fire.

"Dude, you can keep a secret right?" Seyong suddenly turned serious. I looked up from the fire and turned to him.

"Yah Kim Seyong, I'm you're best friend. You don't trust me?" We both chuckled and bumped shoulders.

"Ever since we went on that ski trip with our families 3 years back, my feelings have changed. Every single time, these past few years, I noticed something different each time. You see how Nayeon was so caring for me back there when I hurt myself?" Seyong sighed and looked down.

My heart started beating faster as I thought about what might be heading my way. My palms became moist with sweat, my mind rushed with Seyong's next possible words, I couldn't breathe properly and I felt nervous all of a sudden.

"I like Nayeon and I think I might propose to her."

---

"You may now kiss the bride." The priest nodded once after we were done with our vows. I closed my eyes and leaned in. I expected a pair of soft lips meeting with mine but all I felt was air.

I opened my eyes to see Nayeon had stepped back a few steps. I looked around and we weren't in the vast white church anymore. We were in a field with soft grass up to our knees. To my left was a tall forest of thick oak trees. I was standing under the shade of a lone oak tree to my right. Nayeon was out in the sunlight. The sun wasn't setting but the orange color of it and it's position in the sky showed that it would soon.

"Nayeon." I reached out but all she did was giggle and step back more, "Nayeon-ah." I stepped forward once more.

I let out a sigh of frustration after trying for the sixth time, "Jung Nayeon." Her hands were behind her back and she swung her shoulders back and forth as if she was teasing me, telling me to come get her.

"Nayeon. Jung Nayeon!" I ran towards her but she quickly turned and ran away. No matter how fast I ran, I just couldn't catch up. I reached my maximum speed but she was still out of my reach.

Suddenly, she wasn't in front of me anymore. I turned around to find myself a few feet away from the tree I started at.

Nayeon was walking around the trunk, "Nayeon!" She walked past the trunk and away from my view.

I jogged towards her and rounded the trunk but she disappeared.

---

"Nayeon!" I shot up in my bed, drenched in sweat. I was panting hard and my head throbbed. I looked around, confused and scared. I grabbed my chest and tried calming down my heart, "It was just a dream. Just a dream." I rubbed my face and got out of bed.

After a refreshing shower, I dressed up in my finest suit and styled my hair in the mirror. I smiled at my reflection and flicked my earring, "Perfect."

"Where was the restaurant again?" I whispered to myself and looked for the address of the restaurant I was supposed to meet my friends in.

While digging through the stash of papers on my desk, I knocked down the card with the address.

"Ah, here we go." I opened it and scanned the contents. Slowly my eyes grew wide and my hands started shaking. It wasn't the address. It was Nayeon and Seyong's wedding invitation.

"I like Nayeon and I think I might propose to her."
"Dude! She said yes! I'm getting married!"
"Oppa! I'm getting married!"
"I hope you'll be able to make it. I know you're busy nowadays."

"!" I threw the card on the floor and ran out of my condo.

I ran as fast as I could down the streets of Seoul. People gave me dirty looks and yelled at me for shoving them but I didn't have time to react. My mind was set to go after Nayeon.

*How could I forget that the wedding was today?! Why are you so stupid Lee Howon?! You're a failure and if you don't get Nayeon back this time, you can call yourself a coward and live with regret!* I ran faster as the voice in my head grew louder.

The church was just in my view. Balloons were floating everywhere, the parking lot was jam packed with cars and bows lined the pillars. It was like as if someone sprinkled happiness onto it.

*Just a bit more. You can do it!* My lungs were burning, my legs were about to fall off, my head was numb, my heart could stop at any second, but I didn't care.

I ran up the stairs and through the door. The entrance to the chapel was right in front of me, just down the hall. My running hadn't ceased. Security became startled at my sudden entrance and started chasing me.

*Just do it.* I burst through the doors and fell on my knees.

But no one noticed me. They were all cheering and clapping.

I looked up and the scene tore my heart.

Seyong was kissing Nayeon. Nayeon was kissing Seyong. Everyone was cheering. Everyone was happy. I was too late.

*Goodbye Nayeon-ah. I loved you, I love you, I will always love you.*

Baby, please don't take his hand.
'Cause you should be my lady.
Please look at me, who has waited for you for so long.
