You stare out the window. Autumn leaves falling from the trees.

You observe the students walking by the school grounds, chatting away and laughing.

‘Where’s Seyong oppa? He’s been absent from class for almost a week and

he doesn’t pick up his phone whenever I try calling him.’ You thought and sighed.

‘Sang Minji!’ You’re interrupted from your thoughts as you heard your teacher yell at you.

‘Pay attention in class!’

Some students sitting across the class snickered at you. You rolled your eyes at them.

‘Yes, seonsaengim.’ You turn and face the ugly fat book on your desk.

You tried to pay attention but your mind is somewhere else, worrying about Seyong.

Where can he be? He would usually give you calls every day,

but these days he doesn’t do that anymore.

Suddenly your phone vibrated. You fumbled around your pocket and fished out your phone.

A message from Seyong oppa. You quickly read it.

Minji-ah! Meet me at the park that we always go later after class!

Your fingers quickly glided across the buttons replying him with an ‘OKAY!’

As soon as class is over, you dashed out of the room.

‘Oppa!’ You waved your hands and ran up to him, giving him a hug.

‘Where have you been? You’re not even answering my phone calls.’ You snuggled into him.

He let out a laugh and lightly squeezed you back. You looked at him.

Something’s not right.

He’s smiling but behind that smile, you sense that there’s something wrong.

‘What’s wrong, oppa? Are you sick?’ You reach for his forehead and

measured his temperature with the back of your hands.

He removed your hands and kissed them lightly.

You blushed.

‘Yes. I’m sick.’ He pouted. ‘I’m love sick.’

You just stared at him as he let out a laugh. You gently smack him on his arms and smiled.

‘Oh, i got you these.’ Seyong said, as he pushed a paper bag into your arms.

‘Thank you.’ You looked into the paper bag and pulled out a thick hard covered book.

You gasped. You’ve been looking for this all over the place.

You jumped up with joy and pulled Seyong into a hug.

 ‘Wah oppa! How did you know i was looking for this? This is classic! Where did you get it?’

‘Ah, Minji... you’re choking me.’ He pulled you off him and smirked. ‘I have my ways.’

‘Gomawo, oppa. I really like it.’ You hugged the book. He smiled at you.

The both of you stood there in silence, you admiring the book.

Seyong cleared his throat and you turned your attention to him.

‘I-I have something to tell you, Minji.’ He looked right into your eyes.

What is he going to tell me? Please don’t tell me that he wants to break up with me. Please.

‘I-I’ll be leaving Busan. I may not be coming back.’

Upon hearing those words, you stunned.

‘W-why?’ you stuttered. The expression on his face shows pain and sadness.

His eyes are teary too.

‘I decided that i wanted to pursue my dreams of becoming a singer.’ He said calmly holding in his tears.

‘T-then you’re leaving me? Leaving here forever?’  you croaked.

He nodded his head sadly.

‘B-but i will still love you. You’ll always be in my heart.’ He said.

 ‘W-without you here, i... i..’ You couldn’t finish your sentence as you fell on your knees and cried.

‘Minji-ah.’ Tears are streaming down Seyong’s face too. ‘I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry.’

He pulled you into his arms and held you tightly against his chest.

The only place that you always find comfort in.

The both of you stayed in that position, not saying a single word until

you pulled away from him and wiped your tears.

‘Go.’ He stared at you with wide eyes.

 ‘Go. Go and pursue your dreams.’ You bit on your lip.

‘Because that’s what you’ve always wanted right?’

A tear trickle down your cheek.

Seyong wiped if off with his thumb and stared at you deeply

‘I’m sorry.’ He muttered.

‘I understand.’ You said and took a step back from him.

‘I will love you. Always.’ Seyong said.

 ‘M-me too. I’ll always l-love you.’ You stuttered.

Seyong walked towards you and hugged you lightly before letting go.

‘No matter where i am, i’ll be with you. In your heart.’ Seyong said, his cheeks wet with tears

as he forced a smile on his face.

‘Goodbye, my seyonggie oppa.’ You forced out a smile.

That night, you couldn’t sleep. You tossed and turned about on your bed.

You sat up and sighed. Your eyes hurt from all the crying.

You glanced across your bed and saw the book on the floor.

You walked up to it and picked it up.

As you opened it, a small note fell to the floor.

You grabbed the note and read it.

“Minji-ah. I’m so sorry. I’m a selfish person. I wanted to go after my dreams.

I thought long and hard about it. I’m sorry.

I know it’s hard for you. We promised to endure through everything together.

I’ll be back as a better person for you.

Minji, always remember that I’ll only love you.

Although I’m far away, I’ll always be there when you need me because i’m your Seyonggie oppa.

I’ll be there for you.”

‘You liar’ you thought as you crush the paper and cried.

‘I need you now but you’re not here with me.’
