Foreword
The wooden door of Doctor Kim's office creaked open. He tilted his head, pushing his plastic glasses to the bridge of his nose.
A pale-looking lady walked in. Her expression showed she was still in shock, her fingers were shivering and her handbag was starting to fall off from her right shoulder.
"Mrs Lee, are you alright?" he questioned her as she sat in the chair opposite him. She looked at him, a tear rolling down her cheek. " Doctor..help me.. ", she pleaded.
" What is it, Mrs Lee? " He looked at her worriedly. It was weird to find her acting so strangely all of a sudden. Even after finding out she couldn't conceive due to abnormalities of the uterus, her condition then wasn't as bad as now.
" The..the..baby.. ", she tried speaking but failed to do so. felt dry. No matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't bring the words out of .
" Baby? Oh, you mean Ms Shin's baby? The baby's fine. Don't worry. Now calm down Mrs Lee. The baby and the mother are both fine. " The doctor assured her. She shook her head, her tears just wouldn't listen to her. She tried hard to hold them back, but they still rolled down non-stop disobediently.
" No? What is it, Mrs Lee? You have to tell me so I can help you. " Doctor Kim asked again. He had no clue at all what was wrong with her.
" The..the..fa..fa-fa-ther..is my..hus-husband.. " Mrs Lee cried out. The doctor looked at her questioningly.
" Father of..? " He asked again, completely clueless.
" Her baby. " She continued, " Ms Shin's baby. "
" Pardon? " Thinking he heard wrongly, Doctor Kim asked once more.
" My husband..he..he..had an affair..with her.. " She blurted out, " The baby..is my husband's.. "
Doctor Kim was speechless. He always thought Mr Lee looked like the most loyal husband on earth. But like they say, never judge a book by it's cover. But having an affair with his housekeeper? It sounded impossible.
She cried even harder now. " You have to help me..please..I'm begging you.. ".
" What can I do for you? " He wanted to help her as much as he could. She was already pitiful enough with the fact she couldn't conceive. But now, finding out her housekeeper's baby belonged to her husband, he couldn't help but pity her.
" Lie..lie..to her.. ", she choked on her tears. " Tell her..her baby..died. ".
