Foreword

Lee Dabin! Please give a speech for the school newspaper!" Dabin, the girl’s swim team captain, heard as she turned around and smiled brightly to the girls who worked for the school newspaper, holding pens, paper and a camera.

"Of course. Ask me anything!" Dabin told them happily as they smiled back to her. The girls began asking her questions about the annual swimming competition, she willingly answered them all with a smile and finished the short interview.

Unbeknown to Dabin, Hwang Hyunjin, the boy’s swim team captain, stood at the back, watching her closely and smiling at all her small movements and interactions. After Dabin was finished, she approached Hyunjin and held out her hand, “Congratulations Hyunjin for coming first.” She said happily as Hyunjin smiled even brighter and held onto her hand.

“Congratulations Dabin for coming first too.” Hyunjin replied as the two smiled and held each other’s hands for a couple of seconds before shaking them.

After everyone had left, Dabin took in the silence and sighed with relief. She had trained hard to win the annual swim competition which meant she was now the girl’s swim team captain. But little did she know, that wasn’t going to last long.

As Dabin stood in the changing rooms and dried herself with her towel before wrapping the towel around her waist, she had her back facing the door. She was whistling a song to herself and smiling, the proudest she had ever been of herself. She hadn’t realised that the door had opened slightly and suddenly a bucket of water was thrown over her. Dabin jumped as she leant forward and covered her head and face. The changing room doors slammed closed loudly and she heard the rapid footsteps and laughing coming from outside. But Dabin wasn’t fine. The footsteps and laughing was soon covered by the loud screams and sobbing of Dabin as her skin began burning.

That’s when everything changed for Dabin.

Author's note:

Hello my lovelies! This is my first story I've released in a long while. Becoming an adult, moving across the world and having my first full time job stopped me from writing and releasing stories on here like I used to. But now I have some more time, I went back through my old stories which I had never released and thought it was time to write one of them, update it and release it! I hope you enjoy this story of Dabin and Hyunjin. I'll put a small trigger warning in here for the topics of bullying and also the mention of permanent scarring. I'm hoping to release a chapter each week of this story, and I'll update you as we go! I hope you like the story and also subscribe to read it. ♥
