Description

This is the new, improved, and continued rendition of my ten-year-old piece, Voices. Please note that some elements are subjected to change yet the very essence of the story will remain the same. Ten years after and I would still like to write a piece about a man whose voice is his what keeps him going in life and how he changed a girl who lost her voice and her will to live.

Enjoy!

XO, Chew

"I don't care about our differences. I don't care if I have something that you don't. Those things are the things that brought us together. Those things are the reasons why I met you. I'll still love and cherish you forever, no matter what."

You lost your voice. You heard his. Then that's when destiny comes in.

Foreword

On that fateful rainy day of November 6, 2005, a family of three made their way home from the university. They were only two intersections away from the 24/7 diner that their family runs as a business and behind it is the very house that they call their home.

"Dad, I swear. That's the last dad joke that I want to hear from you. I have no idea how mom puts up with that," Hyemi jokes.

"Oh, honey, I don't! I'm on your side on this one," Hyuna, Hyemi's mom, chimes.

"Well, darling, that's the whole reason why we've been married for eighteen years!" Junmi, Hyuna's husband and Hyemi's doting father exclaims, laughing.

All is fine with the world as the trio laughs on their drive home. The radio was playing the latest evening news about the on-going storm. Junmi's grip on the stirring wheel loosened as he made the right turn on a green light. It was another fun ride with his family. He thought to himself how whimsical life is whenever his only daughter is around. He's been excited the entire morning to pick her up from university for the winter break. He genuinely enjoyed the moments when they're all together. They all can't wait to dig in on Hyuna's cooking tonight. Hyuna knew very well as a mother to prepare Hyemi's favorite dishes as she only comes home once in a while.

As their laughter and the radio echoes around in the mini van, a truck's frantic horn suddenly deafened the roads. Hyemi seems to notice that the truck should have stopped on the intersection. But as it the truck makes its way down the sloping road, honking in distruaught, Hyemi knew that the truck lost its breaks.

"Dad, pull over the the side!" Hyemi exclaims in a panic.

Junmi was unable to register what Hyemi said due to the deafening horn of the truck. Hyuna can only scream in fear as she grabs her husband's hand.

The storm continued to pour over the streets. The collision of the two vehicles echoed all over.

The truck's deafeaning horn came to an end.

As well as the lives of Hyuna and Junmi Lee.
